Happy Camper RV Park

Happy Camper RV Park operates year-round in Pagosa Springs, making it one of the few winter-accessible RV options in this mountain region of Colorado. The park accommodates rigs up to 70 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, plus amenities like WiFi and a dump station.

The San Juan River runs behind the property, though dense vegetation limits visibility from most sites. Several reviewers mention the river access as a highlight, while noting that weeds obscure much of the water view. The park appears to house many permanent residents alongside transient campers, creating a mixed community atmosphere that some find disruptive.

Road noise from the nearby highway creates a consistent backdrop, and Christian M. reported issues with "loud music and arguing constantly from this one camper" along with "people running in and out of the park at all hours." Cellular service operates on extended network coverage, and the WiFi receives poor marks from users.

At $45 per night, the rates reflect the limited competition rather than premium amenities. Allyse noted that restroom and shower facilities were closed during her stay, requiring trips to a gas station 10 minutes away. The park serves primarily as a functional base for visitors to Wolf Creek Ski Area, located 45 minutes away, when other campgrounds close for winter.

Many mentioned this as the only year-round option near Wolf Creek, but significant issues emerged with closed facilities, noise from permanent residents, and poor connectivity. Most found the $45 rate excessive given the conditions.

Not ideal

Stayed here as a lot of dispersed spots were closed due to snow. It’s one of the only year round parks in the area that had availability. I stayed toward the back, multiple trashy campers, no rules so people were running in and out of the park at all hours of the night. Loud music and arguing constantly from this one camper. it was hard to get some sleep as it would sound like people were talking right outside our camper. The only nice part about the area was the river behind the campground, however, it’s definitely not worth $45/night.

Sad Camper RV Park

This is one of the only only parks open year round in the area. It is 45 min from Wolf Creek Ski Area. They list that there are bathrooms and showers but once you arrive you find out they are “closed for COVID” so we had to drive to the gas station 10 minutes away every time we had to use the restroom as it’s too cold to run water in the camper. This park appears to be many folks’ permanent residence. Not worth $45/night but if it’s the only option close to Wolf Creek, so be it. 🤷🏼‍♀️
