With electric and water hookups available, Arapaho Valley Ranch accommodates both RV and tent campers on forested sites near the Colorado River. This private campground requires reservations and charges varying rates depending on the site and season.
The property features multiple accommodation types beyond traditional camping, including tipis, cabins, and glamping options. Campers have access to river frontage for fishing and paddling activities, plus an on-site stocked trout pond with complimentary canoes. A playground serves families with children, while community fire pits provide gathering spaces in the evenings. The campground maintains a small bar on the property and occasionally hosts live music events.
Site 25 draws repeat visitors for its seclusion and direct river access. Road conditions can present challenges for some vehicles, as one reviewer noted difficulty accessing the property. Shower facilities are restricted to glamping guests only, which affects the value proposition for traditional campers. Teresa M. calls it a "perfect location for paddle boarding, kayaks and fishing."
The ranch sits in a region where moose frequently appear on the property. For those planning extended stays in the area, campsites near Grand Lake provide additional options within the same mountain valley system.
Description
Arapaho Valley Ranch is a gorgeous family-owned guest ranch in Colorado’s beautiful Grand County. We are located at the base of the Indian Peaks Wilderness, within a 2-hour drive from Denver.
AVR has a rich Colorado history and has been helping people enjoy the outdoors since the early 1900s! There is a long-standing history of families and friends that have spent their summers at AVR, creating lifetimes of memories. You can feel this vibe as soon as you enter our gates!
Our ranch is surrounded by the Arapaho National Forest and is nestled in one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. This area features hiking trails, waterfalls, and historic steam engines from the old town of Monarch. We have our own private hiking trail that leads to our “kissing swing” overlooking the headwaters of the Colorado River Valley.
Arapaho Valley Ranch offers cabins and upgraded outdoor camping accommodations, glamping, and tipis, along with regular campsites.
Our lodge has a game room, a comfortable place to relax with friends, a piano and the Red Dog Saloon, the smallest bar in Colorado.
