Sandy desert roads lead to Quartz Peak, a dispersed camping area that requires serious preparation for vehicle access. Reviewers report approximately 12 miles of challenging sandy terrain, with conditions deteriorating significantly after the first seven miles. Deep sand and rough surfaces make four-wheel drive essential for reaching the camping sites.

The remote location attracts campers willing to navigate difficult access roads for solitude away from developed facilities. Those planning visits should prepare for self-sufficient camping and consider vehicle capabilities carefully before attempting the full route to campgrounds around Goodyear.
