Childs Rapid Camp

Coconino National Forest manages this dispersed camping area along a challenging access road that requires high clearance vehicles. The narrow route features sharp rocks that can damage low-clearance vehicles, though sprinter-type vans can navigate the path with care.

Campers gain access to nearby hot springs and elevated views from the camping area. The forest service site operates without developed amenities or designated sites, following standard dispersed camping regulations. For those planning extended stays in the region, campgrounds near Strawberry provide additional options with varying access requirements.

Childs dispersed camping

First off the road is challenging. Narrow in parts. Sharp rocks. Sprinter type vans can make it. High clearance is best. The hot springs nearby are great. The views are amazing.
