Within Tonto National Forest, Bermuda Flat Recreation Site provides shoreline camping along Roosevelt Lake with both designated spots and dispersed options. The US Forest Service manages this drive-in campground, which accommodates RVs up to 32 feet and allows walk-in tent camping.
The recreation area features marked camping spots directly on the shore, accessed through a parking lot with portable toilets available. Campers need a Tonto pass for the designated shoreline sites. "Portajohns available but no potable water," notes Leanne S.. Free dispersed camping spreads across the highway down the dirt road called Bar 3, offering additional space for those seeking more solitude.
The lakefront location attracts groups of various sizes, with reviewers noting it can accommodate both small and large gatherings. Noise levels vary depending on crowds, particularly during busy periods when the shoreline sites fill up. The forested terrain provides some natural screening between camping areas. Cell service reaches the campground, and both campfires and alcohol are permitted.
Campers seeking additional options can explore campgrounds near Tonto National Forest. Nearby alternatives include Cholla Campground, located 1.5 miles southeast with more developed facilities.
