Stariski State Rec Area

With views of three volcanoes—Augustine, Iliamna, and Redoubt—across Cook Inlet, Stariski State Recreation Area operates as a small clifftop campground from May 15 to October 15. The facility accommodates RVs up to 35 feet and provides drinking water, restrooms, a dump station, and picnic tables across its limited sites.

Sites 13 and 14 offer direct water views, with site 14 working well for RVs and site 13 suited for tent camping. The campground typically sees light use, especially early and late in the season when campers may find themselves alone at the site. "What can I say about the views," notes Tanya B., referencing the volcanic panorama visible from the bluff.

The location sits on cliffs above Cook Inlet, requiring caution around children due to the drop-offs. Beach access exists but involves finding your own route down the bluff. No fishing opportunities are available directly at the campground itself. Traffic consists mainly of local residents passing through the area.

For additional overnight options, Whiskey Point Cabins & RV Park and Whiskey Gulch Campground operate less than a mile away. The campground works best for self-sufficient campers seeking volcano views and solitude rather than activity-focused stays.
