Allison Point Campground

Managed by the military, Allison Point Campground operates along a gravel road system from mid-June through Labor Day. The 49 sites spread across both sides of the access road, requiring some campers to check the opposite side if their designated spot isn't immediately visible. Sites sit directly above the water with views across to Valdez.

The campground functions primarily as a fishing access point rather than a traditional recreational facility. Most sites lack picnic tables, though fire pits are provided at each location. Campers need to bring their own seating and table arrangements. The gravel sites offer no hookups or potable water access, though clean restroom facilities serve the area. Cell phone service and internet connectivity are available throughout the campground.

Direct water access makes salmon fishing the primary draw here. Sites position campers just 30-40 feet from the shoreline, allowing easy access to fishing spots. The rough access road mentioned by multiple visitors requires careful navigation, particularly for larger RVs up to the 45-foot maximum length.

"You can see Valdez across the water from this campground," notes Tanya B.. For additional camping options, see campgrounds around Valdez. The campground works best for anglers prioritizing water access over traditional amenities.

Visitors often highlighted stunning water and mountain views plus excellent salmon fishing access. However, many mentioned the basic gravel sites along the road lack typical campground amenities, making it better suited for anglers than traditional campers.

Bring a table and chairs

You can see Valdez across the water from this campground. There are fire pits for each spot but no tables so you will need to bring your own.

There is cell phone service here as well as internet. There are 49 spots and they are located on both sides of the road so if you can’t find your spot go back down and look on the other side of the road.

Fishing Only

This really isn't a campsite, but more of a place to park while you fish. All the spots are directly along the road access. They do not have fire pits (although you can have a fire) or picnic tables at most spots. This is seriously just a place to be if you wish to be very close access to the amazing salmon fishing. Gorgeous views of mountains and Glaciers in almost every direction do help with the lack of amenities.

Fishing for Salmon

The campground is along the road. It is just gravel sights. It was nice to have a bathroom in walking distance. However, the price was a little much for a night sleeping in a tent and not having access to potable water or electricity. The appealing part is that the campground sits right above the water so it was nothing to walk down and fish for salmon.
