Nice place to camp
The manager was really nice here the shower Is clean. Laundry is cheap. Weather was nice. You are surrounded by water. The rate was 30 a night for a tent site. No water or electric. Which is very reasonable compared to other places I looked at. The store prices were reasonable. My only wish is that I could have had a campfire but they do rent out fire pits. The Couple next to me fought all night but the quieted down. Fort Monroe is a historical site pretty cool place nice boardwalk to walk the dog. The campsite was right by the "pond" as they called it. People fish in it. I like they built towers for the osprey to build nests. I watched birds catch crabs next to the bathhouse. All in all it was a very nice stay.
Historic
Sites: 22 with 1 pull thru 13 full hookups 12 Tent sites
Electric: 30-50 amp
This is a private campground and you do not have to be military to stay. It really is in a great location.
Beach, dump, firewood, showers, fire pit, store, ice picnic table, playground, toilets, concrete pads, horseshoes, trash. A wonderful spot for a campground on the Historic Fort Monroe. There is no gate to have to pass through to reach the campground. It is located on the far end and on a beautiful flat grassy area with beautiful mature trees. Well maintained and very quiet. While there you must check out the Fort Monroe Casement Museum. You have water on two sides with excellent walking area.

Perfect for us!
This place was relaxing and peaceful. It’s located on a peninsula with beautiful bay and creek views. You can enjoy both the sunrise and sunset. There is a little beach down from our site and our dogs enjoyed their first dip in the bay. The camp hosts Pat and Chet were wonderful and suggested a wonderful local dinner place with views of the tunnel. The place is was clean and had really cool Halloween decorations. There is also a viewing deck with lounge chairs to watch the sunset over the creek side. We will definitely be back!

Not great for tent camping
The area is beautiful & the bathroom is good. But if you're tent camping, be aware that it is extremely windy here and there is nothing to block the wind so your tent will howl and keep you awake all night.
One of the most scenic and peaceful
One of the most scenic and peaceful campgrounds in the state of Virginia, you are right by the water (it’s almost like an island), 2 minutes walking distance from a secluded beach, add two more minutes to that and there is Paradise Ocean club. Fresh ocean air! The beautiful trees! Serenity. Pricey in the summer time, but they have a monthly winter rate $756 (not proratable) from October 1 thru April 30. Staff is awesome, we stayed here on and off for two years in a row before traveling.

Great Small Campground
This is a great location to the beach, just a short walk. The stairs are broken down to the beach, so you have to climb over the rail. The campground is great if you have a number of campers, you can hangout in the middle. Small bathhouse, but clean, employees are very helpful!
Great spot!
Site had everything you need. Bay on one side and ocean on the other. Little country store with good prices on things that campers actually need too.

Beautiful but bustling
The campground is awesome. Beach is a short walk, but what they don’t tell you is that there’s a club on the beach. So be warned- it’s a bit noisy. Sunday nights are the loudest, but they quiet enough for bed time. Hint: for more privacy (tent campers) ask for site 6 or 7
Definetly going back
I loved visiting The Colonies, it was a very relaxed enviroment with friendly staff.
Beach Paradise
Smaller campground with plenty of camping space. This hidden gem has lots to offer. Beach access, country store, water on 2 sides. Located on historic Fort Monroe, VA the fort has a lot to offer. No reason to leave but if you do there’s plenty in surrounding areas.

Nice small campground surrounded by water.
Lovely small campground located inside a National Park land. Full hookup sites are named after the original 13 colonies. Nicely situated between Williamsburg, Hampton, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Tent sites, group accommodations, store, firewood, pavilion for rent and typical rv resort activities including corn hole, pickle ball......
