Probably could have been a 3. We checked in late 930 but called ahead to let them know. We got to our spot no power. Under 30 degrees with no heater not ideal. They did come fix it in the morning but when we mentioned it to the office they just said oh well. Definitely not exceptional service. General store was very limited. Wi-Fi didn’t work they claimed it was out of service. People drive way too fast through the camp ground. Lots of permanent residents with some pretty rough setups. Upside great location by the river. Beautiful sites and sounds.
Nothing like the website photos…
My partner and I canceled our booking here after a short drive to our “campsite”… everyone seemed to be camping in what looked like dirt parking spots with cheap fire rings with no space or privacy. The campground was rundown and poorly maintained… looks more like a cheap trailer park than whatever they’re advertising on the website. After driving almost two hours to this location… we will admit we were incredibly disappointed with what we found. Don’t waste your money.
Not the same place
The camp ground recently changed management and it’s not the same place. The new staff are not very helpful and know very little about guest services. There is no one patrolling at night so other guests are allowed to play music and yell all night. Yet the staff was quick to ask that you do not walk in the residential area of the park. Extremely disappointed with the new management. Beaver creek is now a mosquito filled swamp. My family and I have been going here for over 40 years and we are seriously considering going somewhere else.
Tent Camping
The best FIRST TIME CAMPING experience, I could have asked for. Very clean. Restrooms and showers were very well kept. Good sites right on the river.
Will not be going back
Was very disappointed with this campsite. Each site is so close together that you can literally hear everyone’s conversations. No one enforced the 10pm quiet time it was super loud until about 1am. The workers home was right across the way from our campsite and they left their gate open which allowed their huge dog to get out and run at me and my small child. For the amount of money that I paid to stay at this site I was expecting a much better experience but ended up leaving after one day because it was so awful. I gave it two stars because the bathrooms where always clean.
On the River spot!
We love it here. Try and get a spot on the river, it’s like having property right there. You’re own private fishing resort. 80* on Memorial weekend.
Great campground
Great campground. Very clean and the staff was helpful. General store has everything you may need if you forget something at home. We booked last minute so we were unable to get a riverfront spot however our campsite was still nice and have a river view. Would definitely recommend booking early and getting on the river.
Great Stop-Over to Death Valley
We called ahead and got walk-in the day of. Very nice spot. If not for Covid we would have loved to explore the town of Kernville. It looks super fun, reminded us of Truckee. A little loud for us since quiet hours didn’t start until 10 and I don’t think there was any enforcement. Otherwise, the river was beautiful.
Best Campground in Kern
I’ve been coming here for the last 33 years. My parents took me here every Memorial Day weekend and now we continue this tradition with my kids. The fishing is great, the people are amazing and the camping is awesome! Please respect the Kern River, keep safe and you’ll have a great time!
Lovely campsite by the river - good clean facilities
We loved this river spot even though we were next to one of the smaller parts rather than the main river. If you can try and get one near the main river as it is more picturesque.
Facilities were clean and well looked after. We had a nice time here.
Short walk into town - couldn't find decent shortcut that wasn't for mountain goats so perhaps just walk along the road to the town. The brewery was a good night out.
Large campground on the Kern River
Our campsite was right on the river, which was nice. We only stayed one night, but would consider returning
Convenient and well spaced out
Visited in January so it was pretty empty which made for a quiet and spacious experience. Stayed off the river but access to it is simple and quick from anywhere on the grounds. Fire wood delivery makes things easy as does ability to launch or take out boats from the whitewater. Great launching spot for Kernville adventures!
Wonderful kick off for retirement!
We couldn't stay at the river's edge, but instead stayed at a full hook up. The area was under trees and quiet, but could had used a little more landscaping. The fire pit was in way in front of the spot so it was not too private. The area was not full due to COVID and/or the time of year (stayed in Oct). We entered from the north from 99 and noted the road was not meant for RV's but still very passable. The sites had good spacing between them. The trail was short, but good for an hour walk to the pond. The pond was great and this would be a good short stop over for anyone with or without kids. We didn't visit much so it may be a good destination stop for the lake. The help at the front desk was great and friendly. WiFi worked well.
Enjoyed the sound of the river
Glad it was a warm weekend because the river was super cold. The water was knee deep and im only 5’3. We stayed on the 420’s and it was a decent size camp area. Not water front which was ok since I had a little one to worry about. Partial hookups. We sometimes got the wiff of the potties too. It would have been all peachy except some neighbors stayed up past 1am and were annoyingly loud and woke up my little one, and any one who has kids can relate that its hard to get them back to sleep especially in unfamiliar places. Other than that the rest of the trip was nice. We got to use the fire ring. Walked around on the campgrounds during the break of dawn. Made s’mores at night, and enjoyed the family’s company. Nice little weekend getaway.

This campground is awesome
Rivernook Campground will be my first pick to stay at in Kernville every time! The prime reason is they have campsites directly on the Kern River. Also while camping there you will maintain cell reception, there is WiFi, restrooms available 24/7, and FREE hot showers between 7am to 8pm. The campground is only 1/2 mile from the grocery store and a few restaurants nearby as well. The sites are clean, the staff is friendly upon check in and anytime you stop in the general store for a reup of ice and goodies. We stayed on the southern end of the campground site #102 and we walked to the northern end and floated down the river back to our site with a nice cold beer in hand. Highly recommend because you can’t beat camping on the river. Sites start at $37/night and go up depending on the size of your group

Great family friendly destination.
The camp site was very nice and clean. Beautiful and peaceful! The people we met there were regulars and extremely nice and friendly. I recommend this campground to anyone that likes staying on a river, fishing, swimming and rafting. My family loved it and we will definitely become regulars there.

One of the best campgrounds I’ve been to, like ever.
Okay, so first I’d like to say the staff on site was excellent. Very helpful and incredibly nice. The bathrooms and showers provided by the campground were seriously a game changer. They were very clean and tidy and someone came through to sanitize regularly. The campground itself is GORGEOUS. Very nice camp sites that sit right on the water-there are so many places to float the river or soak and still remain very socially distanced. We will definitely be returning!

Beautiful well kept campground
Beautiful well kept campground. We tent camped and our site was close to the rv hook up sites. The rv sites have two different sizes and hookups. Tent sites had access to running water. We were located close to the creek and the bathrooms with showers. The walk to the water was a bit far but fun once you’re out there. The current wasn’t too strong so the kids were able to enjoy themselves in the water. Overall we had a blast.

Decent camping
The campsites are super close to one another. Recommend getting a site that is at a corner or end of a row. And be aware of the “security” that drives around at night with their lights off trying to harass campers!
Yearly Camping Trip
Did not disappoint!! Everything was kept clean-restroom and showers included. LGBT friendly Dogs were also welcome at no additional charge! Campsites were by the river and easily accessible!

Large Grounds on the River
I gave a four star only because there are a lot of tent spots only and I really like some of them but they are reserved for tent only. There are sites on the river with hook ups except sewer, but that’s ok for us. There is also a large grass area they have for large parties like weddings and things. We go every year.
Fun for All
Visited this campground during 4th of July. Restrooms are clean and situated at good distances throughout campground. Showers are free and have warm water. They are also clean. The creek side sites are great for the kids to play in and search for frogs and crawfish in evening. These sites have plenty of shade. Especially (50-53). Riverfront sites are hard to get. Looking forward to trying those later in year.

Awesome spot!
Stayed at Rivernook for 5 nights in site 430. Had hookups. The site was riverfront and the water was flowing. Watched rafters and kayakers go by. Dog friendly. My lab went swimming everyday. There is also a creek that runs through the campground. Lots of nearby hiking. Lake Isabella is close as well. The town of Kernville is 2 minutes away with anything you might need. It was my first trip to the area but I plan to return!
Camp on the water
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, not much has changed except the water level.. and nicer restrooms!
we tent camped by the river ( other options include by a brook ) and had plenty of space and trees. Full rv hookups and rv camping available on the top tier of the campground. Be careful of thievin raccoons!
Close to Riverkern , cell service and supplies
Spring break tent camping
Tons of fun, fishing in the river, showers, flushing toilets
Beautiful Waterfront camp sites
Great place for RVs and tents. Great fishing spots all over the campground. And access to floating in your tubes and hanging out at beaches in the campground
