Visiting for the hot springs

It seems that the care and maintenance have taken a nose dive. The once-charming location is now marred by overgrown weeds, making it a challenge to even maneuver into a site.

It's truly disheartening to witness this decline, as this place had the potential to be a lovely spot for a getaway. I’d give the site a 2 out of 5 rating from me due to the lack of upkeep, the location still shines brightly with a perfect 5 out of 5 score. The view remains as great as ever, and the value for the price paid is still noteworthy.

It's a bittersweet experience when you see a place that held such promise fall from its former glory. In my opinion, there needs to be steps taken to restore this location to its former beauty and make it a great destination once again.

Gorgeous lake side camping!

For those with a boat or want water access this is a pretty great site! Good views and super close to the hobo hot springs which was great! Lots of mosquitos at sundown and a bit windy. Even has a playground for kids just make sure they have their tetanus shots!

Pretty Lake - very quiet

No privacy but no one is here. 2 handicap accessible marked sites. Picnic tables and fire pits. Right on the lake but no bugs! Clean, no smell, tp pit toilets. $10 without electricity but no way to pay.

Quiet lakeside campground with electric

This campground is managed by the city of Saratoga. There is no one on site. When you arrive, pay by filling out one of the forms that in a box attached the the backside of the bathroom. You will need your license plate number and cash, as well as the number of the site you are parked in. I suggest testing the electric before committing to a site. Sites with electric are $15/night. The campground consists of two “tiers” and everything is gravel. The second tier doesn’t have great views, as there is some shrubby foliage in the way. Each site has a picnic table. The boat launch is here but since I am staying in late September it’s been very quiet. Town and the public hot springs are only ~8 minute drive away, but you do feel like you are further outside of town. There are some private homes across the lake. There are no sewer hook ups or potable water, so fill up before you arrive! Overall this is nothing fancy, but it’s quiet and nice to get a remote camping feel while still having electrical.

Nice lake, good over night, maybe 2 nights

Nice lake, most sites have 30a hookup, no water, no dump. The sites are tight in a gravel lot. No privacy.

20 minutes off I80. Nice overnight, maybe 2 nights.

The town is cute. There's a hot spring "bath."

Quaint, clean, quiet

Stopped in Saratoga for one night. Unplanned. Found a spot on the lake. Had electricity though we didn’t use it. Pit toilets. Lots of water fowl on the lake. Close to the Hobo Hot Spring. Beautiful drive to get there.

Worth the 20 min drive off the Interstate

I love a place where I can just plug in the van and rest on road trips with a great view of water and quite enough to hear all the nature sounds. Great bird watching and pronghorn sightings.

So quiet/peaceful

We loved this place! It was so quiet and peaceful out here. There’s a playground which our little girls loved! Definitely one of the more primitive places if you’re in an RV. It looked like there was potable water available but we didn’t use it. Also we could not locate the dump station so not really sure if there is one. Really affordable. $15 for an electric site. First come/ first serve. They never fill up apparently.

My kinda place

Love this campground.

This is a city campground on a beautiful lake! $10/night without hookups and $15 for electric sites. The electric sites are a little close together so we opted for a non-electric site right on the lake front. Campfires allowed. Vault toilets available, but could use a little maintenance. No reservations, first-come first serve. AT&T cell service is strong at the campground.

While you are here, go to Bella’s for the most unexpectedly amazing Italian food and phenomenal wine list. Visit Hobo Hot Springs, the free hot springs in town.

Saratoga is a great small town with really nice people. It seems that masks are optional as we have only seen about 30-40% of people in town wearing them (August ‘20).

Easy to access, Beautiful lake

I arrived late to this campground but just in time for sunset. The tent sites on are the lake which is beautiful but arriving at sunset let me meet all the bugs of the evening. They weren't mosquitoes, I didn't get but they were out by the hundreds. The RVs are close to the tents so it was bit noisy. no tent pads

Nice little get away

Just north of Saratoga, Wy. Is Saratoga lake, and the aptly named Saratoga Lake Campground. It has tiers of camp sites mostly set up for RV'S but a few towards the water which tent campers will be comfortable. It has vault toilets on either side of it and a playground near the main entrance. A boat ramp is also by the entrance. There is not much privacy and vitually zero shade, but the views of the sparse landscape and the abundance of birds and other wildlife life mitigates that. Town is not far away, along with the natural hot springs the town is famous for. Fishing is in abundance from not only the lake but the Platte River known for its blue ribbon trout waters. All in all the positive charms outweigh the slight drawbacks of this spot. Enjoy.

Basic camping close to a cool town

Just outside Saratoga Springs, this campground has the basics on a lake. Tent sites are out in the open with no privacy and few trees for hanging a hammock. However, there are pretty good views of the lake. Sites have picnic tables and fire pits, and the vault toilet was pretty basic. If you need a shower, go into town to the free hot springs and take a shower for free (altho in a very prison like atmosphere). Be sure to spend some time in the hot springs pools, or go down to the river to soak in cooler water. Plenty of restraunts in town to get a great bite to eat, and there is even a microbrewery at the local spa/lodge/resort.

limited amenties at the campground, but many nearby

I stayed here on a bicycle tour across American in 2016 and again while driving across later in 2016. There are basic services, bathroom at the time only as they were doing something with the water. however the campground is situated next to a lake and offers a stay for a reasonable price. There is a nearby hotspring where you can enjoy a soak and a shower as well as laundry and food options in the town.

Mountains meets plains

Beautiful views of the Rockies down in Colorado and the plains stretching out east, plus the nearby rock formations at Medicine Bow. Excellent area to get that backcountry experience just a few feet from your car.

Near Medicine Bow

This campground has a sandy beach, mountain views, prairie nearby, and wildlife. Simple but nice camping, mostly RVs/campers and people with boats. We came by road bike, which was not too fun for the last little while on the dirt roads (but it should be accessible to any vehicle unless heavy rains were recent). The town of Saratoga isn’t too far and has a few restaurants (got good steak there but I forget the name of the place). Great Wyo/Colo border feeling to this site.

Great beach!

To me, it seems as though a sandy beach on a lake and mountains can't possibly go together....i was so wrong! This place was cool! We were there on a weekend and didn't find it busy at all. I only saw one boat on the lake and that's it. The water is beautiful, the swimming is great, and the lake is big. I'm a fan and I'll definitely come back!

Great area

Friend and I did a spur of the moment road trip down through the Snowies. We stopped Sunday night, drove into town to find the bath house (free hot spring, freaking awesome!). We drove a mile north, found the campgrounds, made camped and passed out. Woke up the next morning to a beautiful sunrise on a steaming lake with tons of different birds (pelicans to meadowlarks), went back to the bath house (again, FREE!!) and drove about 10 minutes to the beginning of the snowy range access. Beautiful, amazing site.
