About

National Forest

Upper Teton View Dispersed camping is a fantastic destination for those who enjoy primitive camping and stunning natural scenery. The campsite is located on the east side of the Teton Range in Wyoming, offering a remote and peaceful camping experience with breathtaking views of the Teton Range. The campground is located in a dispersed camping area, but the lack of amenities is more than made up for by the feeling of being immersed in nature. The Teton Range offers hiking trails, mountain biking routes and fishing opportunities. Visitors can also explore nearby Yellowstone National Park, which is home to a wide range of wildlife, including bison, elk and grizzly bears. Additionally, the campsite is located near several hot springs and natural swimming areas, providing a refreshing and unique way to cool off after a long day of outdoor activities.

Get there early and claim your spot!

This is a fantastic spot off the road to take in the grandeur of the mountains - and even plan your next climb;) lots of people camp here, so be sure to prepare to squeeze in, or get there early to claim your spot.

We lucked out and got the spot all the way at the end. Lots of other folks joined the site as well, and we even had some guys pitch a tent right in front of us but the view was still well worth the stay. Road wasn’t terrible coming in with our tundra pulling a 20 ft camper

Best view in the valley!

The campsite was very primitive with zero services and gets very crowded. But everyone was nice and respectful and the sunset and sunrise of the Tetons cannot be beat. The road was also far less rough than Curtis canyon. Highly recommend this place!

You can't beat the views, but it is a little crowded. Thankfully the road in isn't too bad. Good sky visibility for Dishy folk. About a half hour outside of Jackson. Pit toilet at the beginning of the road.

Beautiful spot!

We showed up around 2pm and found a spot. Spots are separated a good amount to let the pups play. Awesome view!!! We parked farther back, the front row spots were very very packed, people parking on top of each other. But it was very clean and gorgeous!!! Our RV had no problem going up, just a little bumpy of course.

Beautiful view

My husband and I got to this spot at about 11:30am and we only saw one camp spot available, so get there early! It fills up quick! There’s beautiful views of the Teton mountains as people say, the roads are a bit rough and inclined but that’s everywhere in the west really:) no four wheel drive needed at all. We have a 2 wheel drive truck and a 16ft camper that made it up and down just fine. It’s also a narrow road up to the upper camping area so stay going slow and watch for others coming the opposite way!!! If the top part gets full it’s pretty packed together, and people stayed in spots that were not designated camp sites. Also our site was full of trash and someone DIDNT pick up after their dog! Always leave nothing but footprints! Practice leaving no trace!

Amazing views and wildlife encounters

There are about 27 designated spots to camp in this area, you pull off onto toppings lake access and go from there! There’s one vault toilet at the beginning on the camping area but it’s a bit far if you camp further back. I didn’t get much service with verizon but I did get full bars at elk flat pull out or something like that down the road. Also close to Jackson and extremely close to the national park. It was a spectacular stay with my pup, we loved the views and how many animals we saw!

Unbelievable Views with Campfire Camp

This boondocking location was amazing. It had one of the best views on your trip so far and we have been everywhere! The sites are spacious and they have deep fire rings. The nights are nice and chilly to warm around the camp fire. One of the few places that allows campfires so that was a real treat. There are plenty of piles of dead trees around that you can collect for firewood. No hook ups so come prepared. No bear sightings, but we saw some wild bison in the field below. Bring bug spray and citronella because the mosquitos bite.

We were able to use our generator a few hours a day to get things done, just be courteous of run time and neighbors. We didnt leave the site and explore much because it was just so beautiful.

There is a 5 day limit and the camp hosts are good about checking.

We made it up there with out 29ft travel trailer with no issues just take it slow.

Chaos and Mayhem

Even though we’d been striking out at every spot near the Tetons, we thought we’d give this one a shot. Nope. The lower section was packed tighter than an RV park (though there was one spot available that we could have, but chose not to, squeeze into).

The upper area was just a madhouse. RVs of every size shoved into every free space. The 30 ft max rule is not heeded. Even if by chance there was room for us up there, it’s not a place where we would have enjoyed our time. The road up was doable in our 26ft class C. If you’re used to unpaved rough rocky roads then this will be easy.

No water or garbage so packing and pack out. There was a pit toilet at the lower camping area. No cell service.

Can't beat free99 with a view

We got to the campground at 4 we were lucky enough to get site 16 with a pretty good view of the Tetons. Around 630 it appeared all the sites were full as we saw a lot of vehicles heading back down the road. So I'd suggest getting there fairly early.

The sites go way back so it you don't get one of the closer site you won't have the views.

The bathroom is also located at the entrance so you'll have to walk to the bathroom or dig or if your rig has one your in luck.

Beautiful!

This is a great spot to stay if you have no site booked at the payable grounds, and if you have a vehicle capable of making the trip up. The road leading to the first sites and bathroom, which is locked early in the season due to the area being overused in the winter(snowmobiles are used frequently on the road and trails in the area), is heavily grooved due to 4x4 vehicles using it often. Once to the sites, you have a beautiful view over the valley below and the Tetons past that. Fire rings can be made with rocks in the area, and many are already established by previous campers. The camp hosts are always very kind and friendly as well. There is a small creek nearby, about 60 yards or so. The sun sets behind the Tetons, and doesn't shine directly onto tents until later in the morning due to the mountain cover behind the sites. There is one bear box near the camp hosts spot. This is the only one we saw on the road, but granted we did not travel all the Way up the road. Get here early if you want a good spot as they fill quickly, depending on the time of year you visit. 10/10 would recommend these sites if you don't mind minimalist camping off of a dirt road!

Its a quick turn off the main road so slow down once you get close you shouldn't miss it it has a small wood post sign and a large gate open with a camping advisement board a bit further up.

We spent four nights here and enjoyed every bit of it. Unbelievable views of Grand Teton and the surrounding area from virtually every site in this spot. No facilities that we saw, but had enough service to work remotely with our cell booster. The road up was tough but manageable in our low-clearance converted shuttlebus. Would absolutely stay again, if only for the views!

Drove to the upper area with 35 foot 5th wheel and you need 4-wheel drive.  A bit dicey in one area but worth the trip.  (There is a sign coming off the main road for any RV longer then 30 foot to got the the next site up the road another mile.)  Host at site did not say anything about our stay (3 nights).  A bit smoky due to forest fires in CA, but great sights/views early in the morning.  We stayed two nights three weeks later as we headed back south.  Stayed in lower area and it was also just as great, although views not as nice.
