Noisy but great views
Tent camped for 1 night along the river. The tent sites are close together so it was pretty noisy with people snoring and rustling around in their tents. It’s right off a main road so there’s a lot of traffic noise as well. This spot might be better for RV campers. For tent sites you aren’t allowed to park on the grass so you have to haul everything from your car. Great views all around. Don’t forget bug spray!

Scenic and Quiet
Nice open, park like campground on the banks of the Shoshone river just west of Cody, WY. All sites are pull through with electric. Some have water. There is a nice double dump station on the property. Clean toilet and shower facilities. We had a reasonable AT &T cell coverage. Very nice State Park about 45 minutes east of Yellowstone.
Nice Camground
Nice campground with amazing views. Spots are gravel and paved, with nice surrounding grass. River is beautiful and is far away enough from the highway that you don’t hear cars. Nice clean facilities, and they even have a small library!
I love this place.
This is one of the most picturesque places to camp. Surrounded by mountains and right on the Shoshone River, this is a bit of Heaven on earth.
There is only one flush toilet/(paid) shower facility in the North Fork campground (none in Lake Side), but there are accessible vault toilets within walking distance from anywhere. The tent sites have HUGE tent pads, plenty of room for our 9x12 cabin tent and solar panels. All sites have large concrete picnic tables and the tent sites have privacy walls which are separate to the tent pads. And the tent sites are spaced very far apart, so you never feel cramped.
Cody, WY is pretty close if you need to stock up on supplies and Yellowstone is just 44 miles down the road.
Wonderful
Though we only had electricity the park provided privacy and views that surpassed all expectations. I was taken back when I went to the bath house and had to pay to take a shower. But the water pressure was nice and the temperature was nice and hot. No disappointment there!
River view spots
Make sure to stay by the river. Breathtaking views. Nice pull through sites with room for tents and hammocks on the same site
Nice campground
Nice and quiet campground. Most spots I saw were all pull through with 50A service. No water at sites, either fill prior or bring 200’ of hose, that will allow you to fill if you run dry. Hounds are on the river just prior to the lake. Saw pelicans and mulies (bucks). Weather was constantly changing and did not necessarily match Cody weather. Fires were allowed with wood on site with donation. Showers and pit toilets also on grounds.

Beautiful Spots on the River
Beautiful easy to access spots right next to the river. The current was too swift for swimming g while we were there but that may change later in the summer. The was was too chilly for me in any case.
The sites do not have have power or water or sewer hookups. There is a dump station and water fill station.

Sweet Campground for Tents
We were so lucky to find this campground! It is a perfect base camp for exploring the east entrance to Yellowstone Nat'l Park. We were looking for a tent camping site & found exactly what we wanted in the lower loop sites #38 & 37. These are RV sites without hookups ($30/night). These sites are reserved through an online site, but the attendant helped us make our reservation when we drove up. The only bad thing is that people reserve sites online & then don't show up. Because the sites are "reserved" no one else can camp there. There is a vault toilet & water pump. The upper loop has very nice pay showers. Firewood is available for a donation or you can collect your own. We have stayed here 8 days & loved it!
Stunning 360 views and the cleanest grounds
North Fork (NF - on river) is 1 of the 2 campgrounds located within Buffelo Bill State State Park. The other one is Lakeshore (LS - on the lake) We were in site NF 77. Quick review:
- Immaculately manicured. Every twig was gathered and left in the firepit for use.
- Free campwood (donations accepted)
- We loved that all of the sites were pull through and level.
*There are no bad sites. They all have amazing views.
- There is a huge lending library onsite.
NF is on the river. A huge herd of deer was grazing in the field when we arrived. After setting up, we strolled around the campground. There are pit toilets in each loop. The tent area has one designed for that area. At the entrance was the shower house. There are 4 seperate rooms, each with a flush toilet, sink and paid shower. I have included a photo with the cost. They are clean, spacious and typical for a state park. I do like that there is a plug so I can bring a little heater for those cold mornings. It is so quiet here. No road noise. It is mid May and the water is still turned off due to freezing temps at night. It even snowed last night. They did leave 1 spicket turned own at the host site in order to fill tanks. The dump station was open for dumping only. No water there yet. The staff was super nice. I now wish we were staying more than 4 nights.

Really great site
Great campsite. Lots of room. Facilities were very clean. Ice playground for the kids.
Buffalo Bill State Park
Typical State Park with wide open spots and no privacy. We got a pull through site with electricity but no water hookup. Potable water was available throughout the park, however. There are vault toilets scattered and near the entrance is a single person flush toilet stall with coin shower. The playground was fenced off due to Covid in August 2020. We enjoyed visiting the dam and the bike park in the town of Cody, WY. We were on the river portion of the campground, there is also a loop further east on the reservoir.
Pretty and Peaceful
Closed for the Season. No restrooms but still allowing campers to use Free. Well laid out parking. Picnic tables and fire pit.
Perfect spot on the water
Loved this campsite. Perfect weather and even better views. Great for traveling through Yellowstone. Good facilities too! Only thing that could be annoying is a bit of noise from the highway but it was quiet from 12-5am.
Gorgeous and quiet
Gorgeous, quiet and good 4G. 15 minutes to Cody for a great old west experience.
Best camp site I’ve ever had!
I would give this place 10 stars if i could! We had so much space, a beautiful Mountain View on both sides, and easy access to firewood for a small donation.
Buffalo Bill Northfork Campground - State Park
July 24 - Aug 7, 2019 Love coming to this park. Site 55 has electric and water. Park has dump station. Restrooms are very clean and they have a charge to shower ($1 for 3 minutes). There is a Visitor Center and Dam very close by.

Best Free Camping EVER!
I don’t know where to begin! We went all the way down this road, nearly to the end until we saw a national park camping sign, took this long dirt road all the way down to the river and found this hidden gem of a spot! Absolutely stunning, lots of privacy, great fishing spot and view of the Tetons! The dirt road you take to get down is a little sketchy so I sure wouldn’t take a trailer out there. But definitely the best free camping. A deer came right up to us at the site too!

Served its purpose...
We only stayed here for a night and it served its purpose. The sites were clean, bathrooms were really nice and the views of the bluffs were pretty rad... however, it was SUPER windy the night we stayed. Like, people digging their heels in holding their tents praying for them to not blow away kind of windy. I was also not super pumped that all the sites were right out into the open. I could see into everyone’s campground in the entire grounds.
Namaste
What a gorgeous view! This state park has the best view and is a wonderful base camp for Yellowstone. Only 8 miles from Cody! Make sure and stake your tent down there is some wind. The tent sites do have a wind break wall.

Great State Park close to Yellowstone National Park
We stayed in Site # # 5 which had water & electric & a semi view of the lake. Best sites in our loop were #4 & #6 but all sites in this loop weren't bad. There is a boat ramp, several different loops for camping one primitive & one with water & electric hook up. spectacular view from the site. This was a quiet campground with a good sunset.
Going towards Cody there is the Buffalo Bill Dam which is worth stopping at, It's free to get in and has a great story about them building it. Cody is a cute town, have a drink at the Irma Hotel and the Proud Gut, Rodeos at the Stampede.
The campground is on road that goes into Yellowstone National Park the East entrance it's about 50 miles. As soon as we got in the park we saw some Bighorn Sheep, Elk,, then a swan, Bison & more. I love Yellowstone.
We went to a place towards Yellowstone to eat at a hidden gem called Cutthroat Steak house & Lodge. Great steak, good service and off a dirt road that you would think you were lost.

Awesome Campsite with Beautiful Scenery
Visited here in June of 2019. Amazing views from our campsite. Close to the water, great place for kayaking. Campsite had a playground and lots of kids riding bikes and playing. Great campsite for families! Rangers were very friendly. If you have a truck or all wheel drive vehicle you can drive right down to the water just about a mile from the campsite.
Bathrooms were not that clean.

Beautiful setting convenient to Cody
We camped at the North Fork section of Buffalo Bill State Park. The scenery was outstanding and the campsites roomy. Our trailer site, #81 was a pullout/pull-through site. We ended up pulling our trailer in the "wrong" way so that our door faced the picnic table and fire ring rather than the road. The scenery was incredible! We drove around the mountain side of the lake and saw a coyote, grouse and pelicans. We watched the sunset from this incredibly remote and peaceful location. The pay showers were very clean and well laid out. Had to wait a few minutes on a busy morning but definitely worth the wait. Quick drive into Cody, WY.

Roadside and lakeside and close to town
This is an affordable campground that is near Cody. We aren’t planning to go into Yellowstone so this was a great option for us. It gives us a nice starting point to dive into the national forest land to the north.
The campground is stretched out into 3 loops and most sites are lakeside. The campsites are very large. Even without any vegetation between us, we still felt like a private space. It seems like the reservable sites have electric and the rest don’t. Restrooms are clean but I haven’t found a water source. I’m thinking it’s by the dump station.
The lake has a nice shoreline to sit at and boating starts from the day use area next door.
This was a nice campground to give us a regrouping place before another venture off grid.

Gorgeous views
Great views of reservoir and mountains. Electric, pull through sites. Boat landing. Pit toilets. No showers.
Beautiful Campground!
I wish we had stayed longer here. The campground is beautiful and right near the water. The mountains behind it are gorgeous! Cody is a short drive and a fun town to explore.

Great Scenery. Good Location.
We rented. The camp sites are in the open. Not secluded but the dividing walls worked great. Near the road but traffic noise was not a issue. Beautiful Scenery.
Beautiful open views
Beautiful mountain and water views. Privacy fence available at some spots. Which I’ve never come across before so we used it. The weather was perfect. Good spot for sunrise and sunset. I just loved it.
Nice!!
Had a wonderful time!! Wonderful sites, clean restrooms, beautiful scenery! The Camp Hosts were wonderful!! A perfect campground!!
Great sites
Great sites to look at along the way but not great fishing
