Greaet family campground

General: Pride of ownership is evident throughout the campground and there are many different types of accommodations: tent, electric and water, (including some classified as prime), full hook-up, cabins, and yurts. There are also seasonal sites and travel trailer rentals. This campground was as busy as I would expect for Door County in the summer. We checked in at the well-staffed office (open until 9 pm) at which time our site was assigned.

Site Quality/Facilities: Since there are so many different kinds of sites, they vary greatly. Our non-hookup site (#104) had an L-shaped driveway which was just a bit awkward to back our campervan into but not impossible. This site would not have been suitable for a large RV. Some of the tent sites in this loop (#111-113) were called “hideaway” tent sites as they had very long driveways and more privacy. Many of the sites are wooded and there is varying separation between sites but more than adequate. The premium sites have the most privacy and many of these have no one behind them.

Bathhouse: There are two bathhouses, and each is closed for a two-hour period each day. They were immaculate (possibly the cleanest campground bathrooms I have ever seen!). The shower, while a bit on the small side, had nice hot water and plenty of hooks to hang clothes and toiletries. They were clean.

Activities/Amenities: The campground itself has much to offer: playground, recreation area with volleyball net, laundry, dishwashing station, fish cleaning station, recreation room with pool table and arcade games, lounge with fireplace, couches, and books, a camp store, and doggie stations. A couple of hiking trails lead from the campground, including one to Grandma’s Swedish Bakery (highly recommend at least one visit). Nearby kayak and SUP rentals. There is much to do in Door County for active and less active pursuits; this campground is located on the quiet side of the peninsula, but it does not take long to drive to other activities.

This is not our typical type of campground. We used to live within two hours of the northern part of the Door Peninsula, so we only took day trips here; camping here is new to us but we are enjoying exploring many different options.

Nicest campground I’ve ever been to.

Beautiful campground. Stayed here for 7 nights back in 2017. Showers were very clean. Quiet and peaceful.

My wife was scared the first night because she heard noises in the woods, Turned out just to be some porcupines coming into the camp site during the night. Lol.

When it was very dark it seems the tree trunks would glow, not sure if it was the moss or some kind of bioluminescence bark or something, really cool.

We will definitely come back here again, and we tell all our friends who go to Door County about it.

Thee best camp ground ive been too to date!! The bathrooms are AMAZING compared to others, everything is new and well maintained. Theres a park, game room, adult lounge, amazing trails and all breed of dogs are welcomed! They have a dish washing area by the bathrooms and they make sure soap and cleaning supplies are there to use. We tent camped the first night but then a Yurt came up and we snagged that for the next 2 nights with the kiddos. Its fall so its wet out but the beauty of the surrounding area is something to enjoy while not at camp.

Great place

Many things to do here. My site was close to the yurts and it seemed like they were amateur campers-for example, they left outside light on overnight. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and maintained.

Very clean and friendly campground

I was impressed how well this campground was maintained.  Very friendly staff.  Bathrooms and showers were very clean.  It had a large outdoor space for outdoor games and a nice playground area.  We stayed in our RV, but the cabins looked very inviting from the outside with nice porches.

Great private camp ground

This is our second time here. Staff is really friendly. It has clean showers and restrooms. The camp store is extensive for a camp ground - ha). The sites are fairly flat. They do have some full service sites, but most are electric and water only. The campground is convenient to the cool little towns in Door County with a number of activities. It is a really good campground to help you shake off the doldrums of the pandemic. One big drawback although no fault of campground is ver poor / intermittent Verizon cell phone service.

Very Nice

This was our first time staying here! The family/employees were very friendly and at check-in gave suggestions of things to do! We found everything exceptionally clean including the newly remodeled bathrooms. They had a game room and right Nextdoor an adult only lounge. We were here for Memorial Day weekend so it was a busy place however you could not tell. It was quiet. Quiet time meant quiet time. The sites are large and very well kept. Only wished there were more sewer hookups but definitely not a deal breaker!! We will return!!!

Private and beautiful!

We came through here in October at the start of our honeymoon and LOVED Wagon Trail. The staff was so friendly, accommodating and helpful. There was a nice little store and firewood. Most of the sites were extremely private, we couldn't even see any of our neighbors if we tried. There were also nice hiking trails. This is definitely somewhere you could set up for a week or even the season. We didn't go anywhere because of covid but we can't wait to come back and explore more of the peninsula.

Can hundreds of five star reviews be wrong?

No. No, they can’t. This place lives up to every glowing review. It’s quiet, every site is wooded and offers privacy. Throw a dart at the map and you’ll get a great site. It’s clean, well kept, spotless bathroom and shower facilities, lovely little camp store manned by friendly people. And hallelujah, a playground to get my kids out of my hair, positioned in front of their office/store so it feels safe, too. Walking distance to Lake Michigan, the Mink River, and Grandma’s Swedish Bakery, in the heart of northern Door County. We will absolutely be back.

Best campground ever!

This is seriously the nicest campground you will ever find! Beatifully kept grounds. EAch site is nestled in its own woods, with groomed gravel pads. I challenge you to find cleaner and nicer restrooms and showers anywhere! The staff is super helpful and provided a ton of very useful maps and information on the area. The bathrooms have large clean dishwashing stations outside. Everything is being santized every 2 hours during this awful Covid pandemic mess. There are hiking trails from the campground to a beach, a quaint little resort with a bakery, kayak rentals, a nature preserve, a zip line course. You can check out board games, DVDs and fishing poles for free from the camp office. The area is full of interesting places to play in the water, hike, etc. The campground is quiet and super family friendly. We will absolutely be back!

Also, we met a retired couple who are seasonal campers here, and were sanitizing the restrooms. The kind woman is painting rocks with little outdoorsy scenes on them and hiding them around the grounds for people to find and keep. What a cool thing to do!

“One of the nicest campgrounds” is accurate

I choose this campsite because the front page of their website said “‘this is one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve stayed at’ is frequently heard here.” It really is! Three things stand out:

  1. the bathrooms are SO NICE! The shower is better than the one I have at home.
  2. the staff is super friendly. I booked pretty last minute, so originally I booked two different campsites. They noticed this and worked to get me on the same site both nights.
  3. the site itself is really pretty. The sites are nicely wooded, but still close enough to the bathhouses. Lots of pines around. They also have a lot of pretty flowers planted!

Loved This Retreat

There is a lot here, so take the time to explore it all. This campground does offer some season sites so you can walk around and see people with full decks and things, but there is a lot of sites for the every day people. Tents, campers, big rvs...everything fits here. The showerhouse was super clean and very cold! The AC was on high to prevent mold and combat the humidity I guess, but the facilities were the best we have encountered.

Lots of walking around here as there is a lot of little trails that cut between the sites. The campground staff was amazingly awesome! They were so helpful and they have a little store gifts and little things you might have forgotten. They even sell tinder with your fire bundle. They were great and super welcoming.

We stayed at this location due to its proximity to Washington Island as well as Rowley's Bay. There is a great Swedish bakery across from the boat launch in Rowley's that we would highly recommend! Highly! Washington Island was fun, but make sure you rent a mode of transportation or bring your own as you won't wanna be walking it. We spent the day on the island and had a blast.

Great campground for Door co adventures

This campground was really well maintained. Groomed campsites, wooded and shaded spots, level and easy pads for rvs. The bathrooms are hands down the best I’ve ever experienced in a campground! Great showers, hot water, and clean facilities. The staff was super friendly and helpful and made sure all our guests had what they needed. There a fish cleaning station, and very clean dump site. A calm and relaxing campground for RVs and a few tent spots. Even though there are seasonal sites, this wasn’t a place with wild crazy parties and golf carts zooming. It was a great place to look at the stars and take a short walk to a wonderful sandy beach. Close enough to all the fun towns and restaurants, and catch a boat out to Washington Island. Can’t wait to visit again!

Best Campground Ever

This is probably the nicest, most well run campground we have ever stayed at. The staff is friendly and welcoming, they are pet friendly, and their sites are spacious and private - unlike so many other campgrounds we visit.

While staying here, you’re a short walk to a great bakery and restaurant. Additionally, you can bring your gear and hike the trails just 5 minutes away at the state park.

Rates are very reasonable and the bathrooms are the best we’ve seen at any campground.

This place can’t get much better...

Night Sky Lovers Dream

This was probably one of my favorite spots to camp so far, and we do a lot of family camping!! Quiet, serene, close to the lake. The night sky viewing was AMAZING here. Because of its location, there is very little light pollution which makes for wonderful star gazing. We stayed in a camping cabin this trip as that was the only spot available. A short hike from the campground takes you straight to a great beach on Lake Michigan. I will say that the mosquitos are fierce, so make sure that you bring your bug spray! Also a short drive to some great Door County spots. We love Door County and look forward to camping here again!

Best bathrooms/showers!

My family and I camped for 6 days and 5 nights here and it was great! They are well-known for having the cleanest bathrooms/showers in the area and their bathrooms did not disappoint! They are air conditioned with individual, private stalls and hot water! I often met an employee doing a quick wipe down during the early morning and the evening hours but they shut down the bathroom for 2 hours a day for deep cleaning. Amazing! Our campsite was close to the campground office/store which was very convenient. They also have a game room with a pool table to keep the teenagers entertained. It was such a great experience! We will definitely be back!
