Great when visiting Bayfield / the Apostle Islands
This is a first come first served city campground, which is a good thing because each site is so different that it would be difficult to make a good choice in advance. Some sites are difficult/ impossible for RVs and some are fine. We are in a 26ft class c and felt really big- they have a 30ft max limit for RVs. Some (I believe 18& 19?) are grouped together so they would make a good choice for friends and family camping together. There are also some primitive tent walk-up sites.
Nice campground, $30/night, can pay online when you arrive. Good cell reception. Most, if not all, sites have 30 and 20 amp service. There are no water or sewer hookups here, and no dump station. No showers. There are a couple of trash dumpsters throughout the campground but no recycling. There are water spigots throughout the campground too (not for filling RV tanks, but for filling water jugs).
Easy walk to town, not quite a mile, and there is a sidewalk for most (not all) of the way. There are some nice walking paths around the campground, with benches positioned to view each of the Apostle Islands.
Mosquitos were surprisingly not too bad here. We had a really pleasant and relaxing night’s stay here. The town of Bayfield is really cute and the ferry rides to the islands are a must.

beautiful & rustic yet close to town
we arrived friday around 1pm with a couple spots to choose from. we had site 27. it was a primitive site which entailed a small walk through the woods from parking to the spot. it had a little view of the lake though mostly blocked by trees. there are plenty of sites on the bluff overlooking the water though. the only complaint I have is that it’s rather expensive ($30) given the minimal maintenence they seem to do. trees could be trimmed to provide better views and the bathrooms were pretty unkept, but that’s to be expected. super conveniently located close to town but still feels woodsy
Quiet RV on the water
RV under 30’ or Tent. First come first serve but not super busy during the week. Some have water, some have Elec. #30 and a few have Lake Superior views. Only $30 and 1 mile from town of Bayfield.

Convenient to activities
Quiet campground. Pit toilets were clean. Limited number of sites overlooking lake. On about half you can find a flat spot. Not recommended for long vehicles. Close enough to town if you wanted to walk, little over 1/2 mile. We were there June 16 and it wasn’t full. Water from a spigot.
On the water!
Love this campground. You do have to get here early since it’s first come, first serve. The sites are pretty and our site (7) is pretty secluded. There are no showers and only pit toilets but the cost reflects that. It’s only $30 a night and a short walk to town. Highly recommend.
Close to Bayfield
This campground is very close to Barfield. Campers can explore places nearby such as the Madeline Island. It’s very shady and provide good camping feels.
Convenient and Right on Lake
This campsite is $30 to stay at located on Lake Superior and an easy half mile walk to downtown Bayfield. Arrive early to get a spot because even on the weekdays the fill up. We visited on a Tuesday and all spots were gone by 3pm. There are 2 primitive spots available which just entails about a 20 yard hike from where you park. Sites are mostly pretty close together but views are good. Electric provided and well kept up vault toilets.
Beautiful lakefront camping
If you get here early, there are a few sites right on the water looking over the islands. Some spots are tight with an RV, I’d suggest walking the loop before driving around. Close to town, very clean, we will be back. Great cell signal.
Hidden treasure
This campground is 30.00 a night. This beautiful campground is right on the edge of Lake Superior. All three campgrounds in this area are actually this one. I would not recommend this campground for anything larger than a pop up or teardrop. The sites are close together and hilly. The road to the back area where we stayed was narrow. Has vault toilets. Is extremely beautiful!!! I have attached photos and video of the campground.

Amazing but rustic
This is absolutely incredible Campground. So beautiful on the shores of Lake superior. There is a lower road where all of the sites are right on the lake and you can watch the kayakers, sailboats, and the ferry boat going to Madeline island.
It is a little more rustic though as there are not flush toilets or showers. You can shower in town at the Rex center or take a swim in the lake. There is electric and places to fill for water. There is not a dump station but we have taken it up to the Red Cliff casino and they have a dump station there. There’s a charge but it’s minimal.
The town of Bayfield is adorable. Lots of shops, great dining, and lots to do.
The campground is cheap and it includes all you can burn wood. We continue to go back over and over because this is one of our faves.
Like a state park in Bayfield
City-run campgrounds can be of variable quality, and the Bayfield community campground at Dalrymple city park really sets the bar high. The quality of this campground is on a par with a small state park! Set in a deep old forest of tall shady trees, the campsites are large, spacious, well kept and in pristine quality. Many are in primo spots along the bluffs overlooking Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, and many can accomodate a variety if RV’s and campers. However, with respect for tenters who like a more rustic experience, there are some primitive walk in sites that are set off to the side in a nice secluded woodsy location. Right within the city limits of beautiful Bayfield, with all kinds of amenities and possible day trips, but with a peaceful quiet retreat into the woods at day’s end. A quality experience!

Camp Next to Lake Superior
Oh thank goodness, we camped out at Dalrymple Park and Campground in Bayfield, WI as supposed to our original reservation at a boring campground in Cornucopia, WI. Dalrymple was just minutes away from Bayfield, and boat rides away from the Apostle Islands and Madeline Island. There are 28 sites surrounded by canopies of trees and there are wooded fences along the sides next to Lake Superior. It was a perfect spot to settle in for camping. Some sites were drive-in and others were back-ins perfect for RVs under 30 feet. Camping is $25 a night for 2 vehicles or 1 RV for each site. There is a fire ring, picnic table, electric hook-up, and a stump to cut some firewood at each site. Bathrooms are vault toilets and are walking distance. There were plenty of FREE firewood piles near the entrance. Cell-signal was strong for Verizon. A few of the back-in sites were steep but spacious and the drive-in sites were a bit small. It is a family-friendly campground. Pets are welcome but must be on a leash. The mosquitoes were pretty active so bring your repellant or citronella to ward them off. The view was great, but the noise level at night was a damper. We had a rowdy camper who had no consideration or camping etiquette when it's past 10:00 pm. The campground itself was overall wonderful.
Convenient to Bayfield, Amazing views of Lake Superior
Nice campground. Pretty primitive - no running water in the bathrooms so no showers and pit toilets only, but there are two city water connections for drinking water. Electric hookups at the campsites. The sites are pretty close to each other, not much privacy, but the sites along Lake Superior are beautiful. Easy walk to Bayfield. No reservations. Not much room to turn around large vehicles, and a steep hill to the road. There is a free shuttle to shows at Big Top Chautauqua that picks up in the campground. Also, the city provides free firewood!
