About

State Park

Pipestem Resort has endless adventure activities and is the perfect place for a couple or family retreat. Campers can enjoy everything from zip line tours to horseback riding to biking and more.

The sprawling 4,050-acre park is located on the border of Summers and Mercer counties and features 82 campsites open year-round, 31 of which are equipped with full hookups. Nineteen sites are electric only.

The campground is open year-round, weather permitting.

Campsites may be reserved anytime online, by phone, or at the campground office.

Reservations may be made for no less than two consecutive nights on weekends (Friday and Saturday) or one-night Sunday through Thursday.

The number of vehicles or units on a site, payment, cancellations, and refunds information is good to know prior to making a reservation. Read more.

Small pop-up tents, large RVs and everything in between are welcome.

Campers with units over 25 feet in length may contact the park to discuss suitable sites.

First Visit to Pipestem

We visited Pipestem State Park for the first time in Sept 2022. We arrived after dark and although we had great directions provided to our site, for a first timer to the park it was a little nerve racking maneuvering around the campground in the dark. The roads and sites are tight for a larger camper (ours is a 37’ TT). Electrical hookup is on the opposite side than the water and sewer, so make sure your cord is long enough or carry an extension cord (ours was site 14 full hookup). We only spent the weekend, but we’ve decided to come back in the summer and spend at least twice as much time since there’s so much to do. We rode the tram, did axe throwing, hiked, visited the nature center, and rode horses in our short time there. Definitely a beautiful park despite the smaller campsites.

My favorite park

This park is absolutely beautiful and wildlife is abundant. Campground is quiet and shady but other parts of the park have every activity you could want: zip lines, horseback riding, paddleboats, golf etc.

Beautiful but crowded

This park was had tons of amenities and beautiful scenery. Sites were close together. Park was packed to the rim. Families and kids everywhere. This is def a family oriented place and if your looking for a peaceful get away this is not the place.

When we got there our site was not reset and the trash can was filled to the brim with the previous campers trash. However, it was nice that each site had its own trash can not many parks do that.

They had a convenient store on site with tons of goodies.

They have zipling, axe throwing, disc shooting and archery, play grounds and splash water park.

The weather was so nice!

Beautiful Park / Great Staff

We spent this weekend camping at Pipestem Resort State Park. The park is super clean and very well maintained. We hiked up to the tower for a great view of the area. We rode the tram at sunset. We sat by the river in at the base of the tram and enjoyed the quiet serene views of folks fishing, deer grazing, and watched the sun go down. The campground was nearly full. It was well maintained, but the sites were small and very close together. We spent time in the park and saw many of the local waterfalls (Pipestem Falls, Sandstone Falls, Brush Creek Falls, Mash Fork Falls, Campbell Falls). The night sky was amazingly clear and stars were bright. It was a great weekend and a great park.

Beautifully Maintained State Park

Stayed here for 5 nights in our 37’ travel trailer. Beautiful property, well maintained, with lots to do. We enjoyed many of the parks amenities including a horseback ride on the trails, the giant inflatables at the lake, the nature center & hiking.

Campground specific- we stayed in site 21. Full H/U

Pros: Wooded campsites Quiet Amenities Picnic tables & fire rings at each site Trash cans have raccoon lids & are picked up daily Helpful campground staff Kids loved biking around campground, very safe

Mountain view

Stayed for 8 days. Arrived for first night on site 7. It had alot to be desired. Although it backed into the woods as soon as we stepped off our steps it was on the ledge of the pad. We moved the next morning to site 9. Site was much better and with a little more room for hanging out. Electrical hook up was on the opposite side of where they should be and in the middle of the small area. Water pressure was good and there was sewage hookups. Overall the full hookup sites , though we're not horrible they are very out dated for the newer larger rigs. Tent are was super nice and the area with just water and electrical could use upgradeing. Plenty of hiking trails but many are muddy messes due to being shared with the horses. If you are camping you have to pay to use the pool at the lodge. Also there are inflatables in a lake, also must pay. Outside of the veiws the highlight of our stay was when we treated ourselves to dinner at the Mountain Creek dinning room. You take a tram ride down and if you eat you get to ride back up for free, normally $7 per person. They have put put, horseback riding swimming pool, and at the lake. A nature center and. hiking trails. Overall had a nice week and recommend the park.

Well maintained, helpful staff, fun activities

My Scout troop has travelled here twice from NJ on the way to Girl Scout Jamboree. We love it here! Great staff, well maintained camping area, lots of amenities, clean facilities (showers with lots of hot water). In the woods, but near enough to civilization (pizza). We will definitely stay here again!

Tent camped family of 4

We stayed over the Fourth Holiday for our first time at this campground. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. Our site was spacious and shaded. We had just electric hookup for our tent. Park was well kept and clean. Shower houses were well maintained daily throughout the week, however not on weekends when it tends to be most crowded. Shower houses had been recently updated which was nice for a state park. I’ve been to others that were outdated but still clean. They picked up trash daily from the cans that had screw-on lids. Nice outdoor and indooor pools right down the road in the park. Beautiful views. Lots of places to bike ride for my family of young kids (4 & 8). They also had a nicely updated park for the kids to play. My only complaint is that the camp store did not keep their ice cream stocked. When we asked for two days, we were told someone is at the store now or someone will go this evening. We plan to make this our annual Fourth camping spot from now on!

Great place for families.

If you’re looking for a great game park with lots of activities for kids/families, you can‘t go wrong with Pipestem. AmenItIes Include horseback riding, two pools, an r/c car track, aerial tram rIdes, and dIsc golf.

Great family campground and State Park

This is the second time I am reviewing this State Park campground. You can see my review from last year on my ranger page. Pipestem is chock full of plenty of activities to keep your family busy. You can trout fish at the bottom of the mountain from the main lodge accessible by a four person tram ride. There is a couple nice restaurants on site and off site. Horseback riding, hiking, boating, a fire tower you can climb, and an outdoor movie theater on the wknds a few miles from pipstem. You can find out what is showing for each wknd on the (Pipestem drive-in) FB page on every Tuesday. there is a very big swimming pool with a wonderful golf course situated right beside of the pool. The campground itself has over a hundred camping spots. half with full hook ups for campers, and the other half for tent camping. Each site is spacious enough to not be right up against another campsite. There is fire pits and picnic tables at each site. You can get a camping site with electric which is very convenient when camping for several days. They have shower facilities and a laundry room. There is also a place to empty your camper refuse. all in all this campsite isn't one that is rugged and can be very busy at times, but it is a good one for a families with kids. I try to go once a year with my wife and kids because there is just so much to do.

Pipestem state park resort

the Pipestem campground has both rustic and electric/water sites for tent camping. There is plenty to do within walking distance or a short drive. There is hiking all around the Pipestem area. There is a lake to fish and boat on. The Bolar lookout tower that is accessible to the general public on a big hill. a short drive away is the Pipsetem drive-in outdoor theater. This campground and surrounding state park is family friendly. there is an olympic size pool, for swimming, as well there is a tram that takes you down to the canyon rim to explore a local river.
