Pearrygin Lake State Park Campground

General: A variety of different campsites in two sections ranging from economy to basic to popular, with and without hookups, and priced according to peak or non-peak season. There are also three cabins and two group camp areas. 

Site Quality: We are happy we were able to book a basic tent site with our campervan (there were more than a few others with RVs in these sites). Parking was on grass and not completely level, but we made it work. Each site had a picnic table and fire ring (although there was a fire ban in effect when we were there). The sites with utilities had paved camper pads. 

Bath/Shower house: Clean with soap and air dryers. The showers are free but you are asked to not use more than three button pushes. My shower in the afternoon was completely COLD and I am not sure if it was the time of day, the particular shower, or user error. My husband’s shower got hot midway through. 

Activities/Amenities: All things water-based including jet skis, water skiing, kayaking, SUP, and fishing. There is also a boat wash. There are also numerous trails used for hiking, running, and mountain biking. Other activities include volleyball and horseshoes.

Despite my cold shower and the fact that state parks are becoming increasingly pricy (with reservation and out-of-state fees, we paid $ 77 for two nights for a tent site), we enjoyed our stay here.

We stayed at Pearrygin Lake State Park the weekend after Labor Day weekend and got a great spot on the lake. Most of the sites are large with lots of privacy and our site was no different. There was a little trail to our semi private beach and kayak launch. The only thing that would have made the site better would have been some strategic trimming of some shrubs blocking our view of the nearby mountain, lake and evening sunset. The grounds and facilities were clean and park staff were quite friendly.

This is a good basecamp for exploring the North Cascades. We visit Maple Pass, Blue Lake, Cutthroat Lake and other hikes nearby. The campsite is near Wenatchee so it is a bit of a drive to trails but the town and park make a great basecamp for a longer stay.

We try to stay here at least once each year. What's not to like? It's got mountain views while camping lakeside.

I love how most of the sites are on the water, water view or short walk to the water. Lots of trails!

Follow the signs once you get close to the campground, my backseat GPS insisted we go further up the road even though there was a sign that said “State Park —>” 🤣

I stay here at least twice a year for a week at a time. The lake is very refreshing on a 100 degree day. The old western town of Winthrop is only a couple miles away. There’s around a dozen campsites right on the lake with your very own private beach access. No hook ups on the beachfront sites, but plenty of full hook ups available away from the water.

We camped here while trying to find climbing and skiing in the North Cascades, which are sublime, but challenging when as hot as it was. The towns of Mazama and Winthrop are figuratively but not literally cool, and with temperatures rising over 110 during the record heatwave of July 2021, the lake was a lovely place to cool down. It was much milder in temperature than the still frigid but fantastic Methow River, and perfect for casual swimming at sunset. Many families and campers but still found a spot and slept well for the first night in may hot ones.

Park setting, not rustic camping at all. Lake is wonderful, beach area, showers, fishing, boat launch, jet skis....all the amenities. Beautiful grounds, close to Winthrop for outings, and other Methow activities!

This campground has nice facilities and is well maintained but it's definitely more toward the "campground culture" crowd versus people looking for a quiet, peaceful escape. Lots of large groups playing music, rowdy kids having fun, generators running, etc. It was a decent spot for placement along the Cascade Loop trip but I felt like we were in the middle of someone else's family reunion with kids running through our campsite and lots of loud groups.

Pearrygin Lake was packed! Understandable though, nice campground. However the lake access and campground were intermixed. Not my favorite thing when I used to camp with my kids. A lot of traffic in and out even though this park is in the middle of nowhere. The campgrounds were in two different areas and had several sites that were close to the lake. Ducks, kayaking and swimming. Nice picnic area too, but watch out for the sprinklers.

It’s a ways from anywhere unless you happen to live in the middle of nowhere. It’s a great place for big groups. Get a few sites together and bring your bikes. Many sites are in full sun which is not awesome, but there are some really cool lakeside sites. It’s cool for tow behind tubing, a little morning fishing, daytime swimming in the swim area. If you need a day trip there’s plenty of hiking and the town of Winthrop is pretty cool even though it’s pretty touristy, once we took a day trip horseback riding, too. It’s awesome, totally relaxing and gorgeous. Be advised that it is like all high altitude areas really hot in the day and reallly cold at night. Bring shorts and sweats.

Campground was pretty full. I think the best part was the beach. The kids loved kayaking near the ducks. I would not let them kayak too far though. The lake was full of boats and jet skis going pretty fast and the lake is not very wide. Also, there is a boat docking fee which I think is silly when we only have kayaks.

Swimming area for kids, lots of big grassy fields for playing. The stores are an added bonus!

There are less trees in this area but it’s still a great place to stay. Great access to Winthrop. Fun little town.

We were scheduled to camp for 2 nights but ended up leaving after 1 night. We camped at the West Campground, it’s right after the private resort. We arrived early and they were watering our site so we drove around and checked out the East Campground. Seems likes the East was more popular with campers. There were maybe a total of 5 campers on the West side in the middle of the week on a Wednesday. This campground is a short distance to Winthrop and Twisp. Our site was great, fished on the back part of our site and there was enough room for our pop up camper and truck. It was very windy while we were there and the mosquitoes were everywhere. We drove in to town to get additional mosquito repellents and nothing worked. We decided to leave a day early because of rain in the forecast and I was getting eaten by mosquitoes. If it wasn’t for the rain and mosquitoes we would have stayed! Wing

This is a very busy park/campground so it’s kinda noisy when you wanting to get away! However we still had a great time hanging out at the lakeside beach area, it’s dog friendly, hot weather, and close to downtown Winthrop for great shopping and food!

Hosted a Northwest Forest Soils Council field tour based here. The sites were good for multiple tents and group activities. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well kept. It was a very nice site for a group camping. The lake and surrounding scenery were spectacular!

Disclaimer - I never camped here, but we visit the park all the time during the day whenever we are in the area to let our dog swim and just enjoy the lake.

This place is BUSY. There is no real privacy as most of the sites are clumped together on loops in a grass field by the lake.

The lake is fun - people are always boating (there is a boat slip) and floating and swimming. So if you want to be around a large community, (and don't mind no privacy) then this could be the place for you.

If you are tent camping, there are MUCH better campgrounds in the area that offer more privacy.
