Used to love it....not so much any longer

Our last trip here was interesting.  This was one of our favorite camping grounds back a few years ago.  The views are beautiful!  If you have a tent, the deluxe tent sites are AMAZING!  They have a roof over the picnic table which is helpful as it's one less thing to drag with you.  If you have a small camper as we do, well you really need to look at site guides and campers pictures as many places as you can before you proceed.  You also should be prepared to pay extra for locking the site if that is the one that you want.  This BOTHERS me!  If the site is available and I am booking it, why can another camper bump me out of the site?  Oh wait, I know!  $$$$$$ speak!  I'm all about free enterprise, however I just feel this is nickle and diming/greed to the extreme, and as a consumer, I don't appreciate it.  Knowing what I know now, there are a few sites I would never book ever again! (sites 85, 87, 94, 92, 90)  We happened to arrive during some bad storms, so that didn't make our situation better.  The site I had booked was on a slant and when we went to release our unit from the hitch, it slid….not something you want to happen to your new camper!  I told my husband to put it back on the hitch ball and in the meantime, I phoned the office to see if we could move.  I was given some site numbers that were available, however the incoming rain had us pick something rather fast that was level and on a cement pad, but unfortunately right in front of the playground.  We had no idea that when the pool closed, the kids came to the play area and they were loud!  If you are looking for a peaceful experience, do not book near any of the play areas.  You should also know we spent quite a bit more cash for this site, but it was not worth what we spent.

There are not a whole lot of trees and sites are small.  There are some great amenities and it was an ok weekend, but for the money that you spend here, you can just as easily find a hotel and enjoy it.  I can only give it 3 stars.

Has Seen Better Days

Great location but the campground is not well cared for. Two of the three pools were closed due to algae and one pool was so cloudy almost looked like milk. Office staff was not helpful and seemed annoyed that I wanted to check in.

Bathhouse appeared to be clean and newer. But the facilities were run down and a dirty. Will not stay here again.

Great Camping and Loads of Fun

Great campground - Love it! Has lots of fun things to do, including visits with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo. Also, a fishing pond and a wonderful mountain view. The three water slides were amazing, the ice cream was delicious and the mini golf was holes of fun. Enjoyed getting around the campground in the campground golf cart and everything else was very enjoyable and loads of fun.

Great for kids

This was a great place for kids. We came here late Sept. and they were already celebrating Halloween. I think they do trick or treating every Saturday through October. Great atmosphere. It was crowded on Saturday but almost empty on Sunday afternoon.

Very close to Lurray Caverns. Kids enjoyed gem mining ⛏️.

Big fun for the Kids!

We stayed in site 150 (premium pull through) which was closer to the amenities. This is a very walkable campground though. The bulk of the sites were fairly close in my opinion except for the ones in the very back (Mountain View I believe) As with any Jellystone, most of the sites were very close. We were well within the widths of our hookups with slides out, and our neighbors had barely any yard at all. Our electric pole was knocked over and the water spigot was about 4 inches from the ground. All the hookups were just in odd spots. The sewer hookups were pretty far away (definitely need the extra hoses here) and the cable hookups definitely need a longer coax cord to reach the pole. Two sites share one cable pole and ours happened to be on the opposite side or normal hookup. The wifi is terrible, even at the premium site. We went and asked the staff about it and they agreed that it wasn’t very good. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The fire ring was the smallest I’ve ever seen.

The water slides and other activities were nice. Kept the kids happy and busy. The staff activities weren’t nearly as entertaining as they are at our local Jellystone, but not sure if that’s covid related. We enjoyed ourselves and loved all the fun stuff to do, but definitely some quirks that would have been nice to know about before arriving.

GREAT for Camping With Kids!

We stayed here for 3 nights in August for our little guy’s 8th birthday. It was perfect for kids! The kids loved running off in the open field and playing on the zip line. We loved that we could see them from our site. The birthday boy also loved the outdoor laser tag! Staff was attentive. Our only real drawback was our site was not even close to level. It probably shouldn’t have been available for a 40’+ RV. Still, we would go back...just to a different site location.

This isn’t my idea of camping, but I brought my 11 year old nephew. He was able to run around and make friends with his aunt always looking over his shoulder. He had lots of fun at pool, movie night, making s’mores, and jumping on bouncy mound

Lots of activities

Yogi Bears had so many activities the weekend we were camping our boys loved it. There is a pool with water slides, a camp ‘clubhouse’ where crafts were offered for the kids. There was a dance party win Yogi Bear and his ‘birthday’ celebration the next day with face painting and a piñata. It’s a good place to bring bikes to ride and it is also on the water. The camp store and game room are stocked. We usually do state park camping but this was a fun switch up for us and the kids still remember all the activities offered.

Amenities Galore!

Great park with plenty amenities for the kids; jumping pillows, putt-putt, pools, water slides, splash pad, multiple play grounds, and basketball courts to name a few The staff is extremely friendly. The bathrooms were clean and the water was hot. The only negative would be the camp sites are close together not offerIng alot of privacy, for that reason I‘d give it a total score of 4.5. With that being said we will be back!

Bustling campground

When we booked our site we didn’t realize that most of the property is on a hill. Each camper was rather tight and we felt like we were staying at an RV show, that’s how crowded it felt. But as with most campgrounds, the air was filled with kids laughing and campfire smoke. We played mini golf and the course needed a lot of work. We also went to the pools. While there is two, they were extremely crowded. One of us ended up on a kiddie chair because that is all that was left. Trick is to go in the early morning and put a towel on a chair. Otherwise, good luck. The slide was fun. Also loved the big green lawn in the middle. The premium sites looked very nice but were expensive. Staff was always polite. They say that you can’t bring in firewood but we saw plenty of people did. They sold wood but very expensive.
