State Park

Known as Utah’s largest freshwater lake at roughly 148 sq. miles, Utah Lake camping provides a variety of recreation activities. Utah Lake State Park offers fishing access for channel catfish, walleye, white bass, black bass, and several species of panfish. With an average water temperature of 75 degrees, Utah Lake provides an excellent outlet for swimming, boating, and paddleboarding. The RV campground consists of 31 sites, complete with water and power hookups.

Beautiful, clean, and site sniped

Gorgeous view across the lake. Quiet. Electricity worked well. Extremely clean. Camp hosts were nowhere to be found and another rig had claimed the end lake-adjacent site I paid for. They dumped their chairs and cruised to town, missing the sunset! Oh well. Still a peaceful evening. Didn’t try the showers, but they looked nice (located at start of loop near entrance).

Good stop that is city adjacent

Looks like less of a parking lot than the adjacent private RV park. Short walk to the beach and swimming area, but no other significant recreational activities. Sites are paved, many with hookups. Served well as an overnight stop on our way north.

Great SLC stop over

This my 3 stay here at Utah Lake state park. 2x in July and now in September. I’m a single female traveler. With the heat this summer I’ve been boondocking in the mountains and then come down to the valley to restock and plug in for a few days. This state park checks all of the boxes.

Utah Lake

Utah Lake State Park gets a lot of users both day users and overnight. It is pretty close to population centers.

I like to go to fish. There are a lot of catfish and white bass. Some walleye. The kids like to swim though the water is a little muddy in some parts

Fine for the night

Ended up here after a failed Hipcamp experience. This park was fine- lots of bugs that looked like large mosquitoes but weren’t. Pretty annoying. Definitely pricy ($40/car) for what you get. But it was a safe spot for the night and did the job.

Gross

This lake used to be sewer and trash dumping place. The water still stinks. I almost died on this lake. The Mosquitos are thick it's hard to go outside and not get eaten up. I try not to go here.

Pretty gross and expensive

It's very hot - little shade, especially on outside of loop. Very expensive, almost $50 with tax for out-of-state with NO sewer. $15 just for day use. Whole place stinks like dead fish or rotting weeds or something like that. Irritating bugs are everywhere. Old abandoned construction fences are laying around the entrance to the campground with weeds growing up through them - looks like no one cares. There is hardly any grass - mostly dirt with little pieces of trash in it - and an employee was "mowing" the dirt throwing up clouds of dust. Weeds all around the water/electric hookups. We took a walk from camp to a point that sticks out into the water and there was nylon fishing line and trash everywhere. Really, with what you charge you have nobody whose job it is to pick up endless strands of nylon line blowing everywhere and hurting animals? Fishing line kills birds & marine animals! We hated this place, you couldn't pay us to stay again.

Lots of trees for shade and lots of bugs.

This is a fun place to stay when you want to go someplace close. There are lots of trees for the summer months and lots of shade. There are a couple good beaches. This is Utah's biggest fresh water lake. There are lots, and lot of bug so bring bug spray.

Awesome mountain views. Good fishing in the Provo river or lake fishing. You can build a fire and get firewood from camp host. There is full hook ups and also spots for a tent. Most spots have a pavilion and nice tables. Great bathrooms with running water. I can't remember which spot we stayed at but they are were really nice.

Has water and electricity hookups for your glamping needs. Utah lake is right there for your water play needs. There is a little trail to walk but it's just a paved thing, so this campsite gets 4 stars because of lack of hiking.

We went in October and planned on a cold night in a tent. There were 4 of us and we brought a ton of blankets, and everyone slept fine.

Great place if like Zika

The mosquitoes here are terrible. I came here early on a holiday to get a good spot and was ambushed by swarms of mosquitoes. You can literally watch them raise from the ground ready to attack. Plus, these aren't your typical mosquitoes. They are ginormous. Normally in this situation I would run and jump in the lake. Not this lake. It is full of who knows what and has enough green slime to turn you into a ninja something.

On a positive note the amenities are really nice. They have a lot of private dock you can use.
