Selection matters here
For BLM camping, this was a great option. Close to town so we could go get our 5% beers on tap (or real beer to go) and some great food at both Moab and Proper, and close to most of the MTB trails we were there for. In fact, at the end of this road is the KlonZo trail network. That's a really nice set of trails if you don't want to drive.
I mention selection because if you show up late, you'll be left with some of the spots close to the road. Those will get noise and dust from the passing vehicles and UTVs.
The spot we got was okay. We arrived on a Wednesday and it was mostly empty. Friday night was when things filled up and people doubled up in some spots. Good way to make friends and share beers. We didn't mind.
If you go about 1 mile in, there are some nicely sheltered spots to the right. The tradeoff is that your view of the sunset is probably blocked.
Pit toilets distributed adequately and a trash dumpster near the exit.
We also had fair Verizon cell coverage.
Accessible, spacious, a bit crowded
This is a great campground with tons of space. There were lots of people and lots of kids the whole time we were there but it’s cheap, close to Moab and all the attractions therein. We will definitely camp here again. Moab has affordable laundry, great food, water fill ups at the visitor center and everything an outdoors person could want.
Last Minute Option
We rolled in late one night and didn’t have any other options to go exploring especially not being from the area. I knew of this area from the last time I visited. We would see people camping out in random spots from the highway and we tried it to and it worked out great. Woke up to hot air balloons in the air around us.

Great dispersed camping for large trailers
Easy to find right off 191. Has trash and porta potty’s. Large RV’s can make it just fine. There is a $15 fee but no one checked.
Car camping
This campsite was relatively easy to find and had PLENTY of spots to choose from, even arriving at 10:30 pm like I did. My Honda HR-V was able to make it to the campsites near the front, but I would recommend a high clearance 4x4 to get to the sites in the back. There were several clean porta-potties spread out so no worries about having to run to find a restroom. Relatively quiet and private making for a great camping experience!
Simple and easy to find
This is a good spot for only $15. We found the area after dark but were able to find a spot without too many neighbors. Recommend a vehicle with high clearance ro reach farther back sites.
Great spot close to the parks
15 dollars a day, you could probably get away with not paying the fee, no one validates it. Very cool campsite, very sandy and windy. Tons of spots to choose from, so many you don’t have to worry about them filling up. The cooler spots are further along the roads, you can find some cool ones along big rock formations that offer shade, but less toilets back there and the road gets super bumpy, AWD at least and anything lifted will do better. Lots of porta potties, and one pit toilet we found. All very clean with hand sanitizer and GOOD, fluffy toilet paper. Ground is hard to drive stakes into, so bring some para cord if tenting. Watch out for cactuses and the area is busy so can get loud at night. People like to party. Cool spot.

The best!
The best cheap spot to lay down an RV for the night. Didn’t need a water/electric hookup, don’t think they had any of those. Fire pits, ample space arriving at 8:30PM, decent cell reception. Porta potties if needed.
Great remote camping
Nice trails with plenty of fire rings. Some sites harder to get to than others.
Great spot just far enough off the main road
Clear, designated spots. Clean bathrooms and great views!
Stary night on the rocks
We loved camping here! We found the coolest dispersed site with tons of space and no body else around. Our site was huge and the ground was all rock which was pretty cool. Lots of porta potties. The stars and views were spectacular. 4wd vehicle needed to get back to the cool sites that are not right off the road
New Utah Raptor State Park
Not free dispersed. $15 per VEHICLE...until State Park CG is built.

Stunning view
Camping overnight for the super moon and treated to a beautiful desert rain. My class b van handled the road well. 15 dollars paid through the Utah park ap.
Great boondocking location
Used to be free on BLM but it's now being transitioned to a state park so it costs $15/night. Max stay is 14 nights. Port a johns on site and are clean. Huge property with lots of sites and fire pits, beautiful night sky views and only 15 mins away from Arches NP and 30 mins away from Canyonlands NP. Awesome!

Clean portas convenient to arches
We stayed here on a Monday night to be as close to arches as possible for a sunrise adventure. Other reviews talked about it being crowded. It probably is on weekends but hardly anyone there on this Monday night. We got a cozy site to ourselves where another car wouldn’t join on a weekend. There were bigger spots that would accommodate probably ten cars if people were trying to squeeze. So close to arches and clean convenient ports potties. Would absolutely stay again. Nice views of red rocks in the morning. $15 per vehicle per night.
Not free
BLM is a thing of the past. 15 Dollars a night. Was a great place, now it is just dusty and full of rigs. One night and we are gone. Pitiful at best.
Free dispersed camping w/ porta potties
Free, dispersed camping on BLM land. There are porta potties along the road, which was great for someone like me who sleeps in the back of their SUV. Decently flat spots to park. Verizon signal was good. Lots of people there on a Sunday night, which I like because I prefer to camp around others as a solo female. Felt safe and slept cozily. There is little to no shelter from the sun.
Convenient place north of Moab
The place is huge but very busy. However you easily find a place to stay for the night. We thought it was free but now seems you need to pay online 15$. No other amenities except for basic toilets. Beautiful views
Busy Busy
Overall, not bad. Plenty of spaces to park but spots are a bit bumpy. Found that lots of people came in after dark and kind of just made their own spots. Port O John’s we’re pretty damn clean, which was very surprising. The stars were great at night and it was a good spot to set up camp just very close to other people. In a pinch, I think it’s a great place.
Saved me after a long night searching for a spot!
Bare bones but there is plenty of space and it is conveniently right next to arches
If ur coming here at night be careful where u pull into some places Can get sandy and you might get stuck if u don’t have 4x4 or awd
Willow Springs Trail
Stayed two nights here car camping during the last weekend in April. Too windy for a fire, but cute little fire pits were made from rocks in each of the “sites.” Zero privacy. Lots of people, which I was not expecting. Lots of vehicle traffic too. All kinds of different rigs; car campers, tents, RVs, motor homes. Willow Springs Trail is VERY bumpy and I was surprised at the testicular fortitude of some of the people driving their nice trailers down it. Cell service was spotty. They did have two surprisingly clean porta-potties on the road which appear to be serviced weekly. Super close to Arches and Moab, and a free little base camp.
Please leave it better than you found it ✌🏻
Very busy/lots of traffic, but close to Moab
I wasn’t a fan of this area despite its perks (free and close to town) lots of traffic on the road, from other campers and OHVers. It was accessible for most cars, I drive a Nissan Versa and found a spot more than a half mile from the highway. I was here on a weekend so I’m sure it was extra busy. Definitely a solid option if you’re looking for a quick place to spend the night, although you need to get there early to find a spot. They had plenty of porta-potties along the road for people to use, they were surprisingly clean I thought. I had pretty weak Verizon coverage in some spots, mostly no service though.
Free Camping Near Arches
This didn’t have the best views compared to some other campsites on this app but you can’t beat the location! Very close to Arches & FREE… which is so nice in this popular area. They had clean port-a-potties & lots of spots to park.
Pretty nice, but very popular
We stayed at this site for one night to see arches national park. It was nice land, lots of spots, port-a-potty’s, and moderate Verizon service depending on how deep you go. Alternatively, it was PACKED. People were on top of each other trying to make room for free camping. It was very popular among ATVs and RVs. I would still recommend it because it is so close to the park.

Lots of space
Lots of spots for dispersed camping
Turning to fee area
Met with DNR on Feb. 22, 2022. Area is state school trust lands. This area and Dalton wells will become a fee are in two weeks. The master plan will be a visitor center, some full hooks up and dry camp areas.
Busy but free
dry camping only!
fill up on water and empty tanks at the big Maverik on the far end of town 🤍
i stayed in a couple different areas, moved to escape the craziness.
it is mostly uneven terrain but most places are doable as long as you’re willing to level things out-dispersed camping so people park anywhere.
i had some service, better in some areas i found as i walked around
port-a-potties are strewn about, they fill up fast! 💩
beautiful sunsets and sunrises, if you look closely you can see an arch off in the distance.
even with all of the people I did feel safe. It’s about a ten minute drive from Moab!
remember folks- pack in pack out and leave no trace 🤍🤍

Closing
We’ve been camping at this BLM dispersed area for years. Just heard they’re turning it into a state park. How can this be if it’s our federally owned land? Yes the state owns the bike trails back there but not the camping area which is BLM
Diapered camping outside arches
Great spot in the off season not a ton of traffic. The road is in okay shape and there are various spots along the road. Primitive camping pack in pack out.
Great spot close to Moab
Arrived at night but the road was Easy to find and graded well to be smooth. Drove down a little ways and found a site with a level spot. There is a lot of available places along the road and it was moderately busy while I was here November. It seems like the further you went down the less busy the camping spots were.
There are also plenty of Porta potty‘s scattered along the road where the camping areas were. The one I used was clean and seen maintained. Also had very good signal with AT&T here.
