State Park

East of Austin and a short drive past Bastrop State Park, you’ll find its sibling, Buescher. Set up camp, hike or bike under tall trees, or fish and paddle the 30-acre lake at this peaceful park.

Choose your campsite: with electricity, with water only, or primitive walk-in. We also have screened shelters and cabins without restrooms. Restrooms with showers are available throughout the park.

One of the best kept secrets in the Texas State Park system

Great sites of all sizes. Scenic road that is popular with cyclists connecting Bastrop State Park. Wildflowers were in full bloom, and the small lake is great for fishing. Nice, well maintained trails and Park Rangers were very helpful and courteous.

Great biking!

This park is a great stop if you are on your way from Houston to Austin. It's actually connected to Bastrop State Park by an 11 mile road that is mostly used for cycling. And that's exactly what we did! There was very little road traffic and the views were great! There are also several scenic overlooks in the park and I highly recommend checking these out. Great park with great views and biking!

Large sites with lots of shade

This is a great park with lots of trees and some really nice sites. Location is great and staff is friendly and helpful.

Comfortable Campsites

Enjoyed a two night stay during COVID era. Many parks closed, believe this state park had restrictions on how many campers could stay overnight. We reserved 2 night online, and arrived just as the friendly ranger was closing for the day. Good location; easy to find off of freeway. Wooded RV sites with paved pads. Several areas were closed. Dam area under construction. Overall, a very relaxing, pleasant experience. Very quiet. Boat rentals appeared to be closed, and small lake looked a tad stagnant and overgrown with aquatic plants. Wouldn’t plan on fishing in “stocked lake.” No collecting firewood; charcoal fires only within ring. Comical amount of paperwork stuck by rangers/park hosts to our van the first morning.

One Of My Tope 5 Texas State Parks!

Buescher State Park, Texas is a wonderful and beautiful place to spend some time relaxing and RV camping! We had the pleasure of spending a day and night at Buescher State Park, Texas in May of 2017. This was our third stop on a 10 day 5 park tour. Buescher State Park, Texas is located in the Lost Pines area of Central Texas and is a great place for springtime camping, fishing and swimming! Hill Country wildlife abounds in this wonderful park! If you enjoy fishing, swimming, birding, hiking or Geocaching then you will enjoy a visit to Buescher State Park, Texas.

Two Parks for one price

We stayed here for three nights and we were able to visit Bastrop State park for the day. The water was full of some weeds so fishing was not that great but we rented a camp and enjoyed our stay here.

Great park but Sites are awkward

Had a good time at this park but the camp sites were not setup well for rv camping. We only found 1 site that was a good setup for our rv. Other than that part the hiking trails were great and the lake was fun to kayak on with the kids.

Woodsy with a nice little lake

I live about 25 minutes away from this park and have taken my dad fishing here as well as hiked here several times. There are so many trees that it keeps the Texas sun and heat off you pretty dang well.

Bathroom is well kept as well as the park.

Always great

Great park w lots to do like fishing, hiking, canoeing, a playscape for the kids, trails and lots of day use areas. We stayed in our rv and the pads was concrete and level w water and electric hookups. The site off the pad was a bit drastic but it was fine. Lots of full grown tress and underbrush so most of the time you don’t see the neighbors. There are restrooms with showers and a dump station. We have gone many times and will be back it’s one of the closest parks for us.

Nice Fishing Spot

Buescher State Park is about 40 miles outside of Austin and a short drive from Bastrop Texas. The park is great for campers who like to fish. The 25 acre park lake offers some great shoreline and kayak or canoe fishing. You can rent a canoe or bring your own. You can use the boat launch or enter the lake from the Lakeview Campsite. The campsite have flat concrete pads for campers and RVs. The sites have good tree cover and a nice level of privacy which can be rare at state sites. They have all the facilities you need from group recreation facilities to new cabins on the lake. The campground was less than half full in June. They have a tackle loaner site and a small camp store.

Beautiful trails!!

Buesher State park is a great spot to take the family and relax! There is lots to do and it is a pretty good sized Texas park. They have tent, group, and RV sites, along with cabins and screened shelters alongside the lake. You cannot swim in in the lake, but they do have boat and tackle rentals at the park. It makes for a great place to fish with the family.

The park is very shaded with lots of pine trees, but a fire did wipe out a lot of the trees on the Northern side of the park towards Bastrop. So many of the longer trails are not as shaded or are still in the process of repair. I went on a trail that was about 5 miles long and it was very nice. It was moderately challenging, a little muddy, but so much to see. Beautiful wildflowers of ever color were growing and I saw about eight white tail deer. Also a great place to birdwatch and take photography.

The facilities are old, but well maintained and there is a store on site that sales snacks, wood, and souvenirs. The have a nice playground on site for the kids and the campsites are very spacious.

Also if you have the time there is a 12 mile scenic road that connects Buesher State Park with Bastrop State Park that will take you about thirty minutes. It is a twisty, hilly road that has some really great views of fields of wildflowers and tall pines. You can also see where the fire took out part of the forest and is beginning to regrow. Also Bastrop state park is a great place to visit for some challenging hikes!

Bikes and Buescher

We have stayed here 2 times and loved it both times. Our time in the park was shorter than we would have liked but we cannot wait to go back and explore more. Love the support for the MS150. The rangers were some of the nicest and extremely helpful.

Great Park

This is a very nice, small, State park. There is a lot to do and it didn't feel crowded at all. The tent camping spots were great! We stayed at a walk in site (water only) and had a great time! Good fishing, hiking, etc.

Biking and Longboarding

Really cool park about 20 mins from bastrop state park. The roads and loop around the park are very smooth and perfect for biking...or longboarding or rollerblading. The camp spots next to the lake are very cool and there's a fun out and back trail with lots of shade which is perfect for families. Definitely a very family friendly park and camp area.

Alright hiking

The hiking here is alright. Good sights to see, but it isn't my top priority in Texas.
