WATER WARNING
WARNING! Have you stayed here, are you staying here or do you plan to stay at Reeder Beach RV Resort? Be warned. Due to increasing health issues, my husband and I discovered arsenic levels so high that Steve Wabashall at Oregons Drinking Water Services has, since 2019, issued a “Do Not Drink the Water” alert. He told us the owners are required to inform guests with flyers, tell them upon check in, and supply everyone with bottled water. We actually have pictures showing no notices were posted and we were never told not to drink the water. Arsenic was first detected in 1991, but not retested until 10/2/2019. Each subsequent test has been positive with nothing done. Please check this out for yourself at yourwater.Oregon.gov and click on water systems search and enter 91951 for Reeder Beach Resort. We drank and cooked and gave this water to our animals. When they found out we discovered the problem, after more than six months there, suddenly, they were completely sold out and we had 24 hours to vacate. We don’t understand why they aren’t required to correct the problem and our main issue is, we were not given a choice or informed about the health risks
Beautiful campground near the city
This is a really nice campground right on the river. You pass through farmlands to get here where during harvest you can pick up fresh veggies and fruit. Perfect for dogs with a nice trail. You can get into the city within 10 minutes.
1 Night Stopover
I was worried when Google maps brought me through the industrial section of Portland, but relieved when I crossed the bridge to the Island. Check in was fast and efficient. Can't say the staff was friendly or welcoming, Full hookups, but I don't rate it higher because there is no wifi or laundry facilities. There is also nothing around here store or restaurant wise. I enjoyed the beach and watching the ships pass by. I had good cell service. Riverside back in sites are the best. Pull through provide shade
Too far
Weird entrance to this place. You go through someone's property before you get to the sites. Lady at the office wasn't friendly and didn't wear a mask. Attitude problem. Sites were not leveled. Too far from Portland.
Sauvie's cacophony of wonder
This morning, Dec 1st, I woke up to the sound of frogs croaking, birds chirping, airplanes swooshing, trains puffing, traffic roaring, a shipping vessel rumbles by, waves crashing a rooster crowing, chickens clucking, geese honking, a tractor starting. I can hear nature, farm, and city here from my picnic table or lying in bed with my window open. The sky awoke slow this morning with a magnificent show of melty purples, pinks, and oranges. I've been non ambulatory for a while and it's been nice to just close your eyes and listen to this place. So many different avenues for you to wander with your imagination. Or you can actually go wander. I can walk to a sand beach and take an Uber to downtown Portland for about $25. Super site, the hot showers were great. I had Thanksgiving with my 9 yo boys here and it was something we will never forget. Eating apple pie and watching 20 story tall container ships glide by was neat.
A superb location! But!
Overall I liked this .location. Clean sites. Some with views of the mighty Columbia, clean facilities. What surprised me the most was the letter notifying campers of the high arsenic levels in the water. I wish I had known about this when I arrived. I wish it had been posted when registering.
Great campground!
We got a river view campsite and it was completely worth the extra fee. Seeing the big ships was an absolute favorite. The hosts are very helpful and escorted us to our camp spot. They offered to help us unload our vehicle as well. The island itself is very cute and the campground was easy to find. Will definitely be staying again

Quiet and Friendly
My husband and I were here October 2019, but this place was fantastic! The couple that own the property are very kind and welcoming. Our site was on the river so we could watch the ships go by at night. I would recommend anyone to stay here it makes you truly enjoy getting away from the city but not too far that you would have to take days off work. It's peaceful, clean, and quiet. I must say we had issues with our truck and had to stay an extra few days and they were more than happy to accommodate us last minute with no problem doing so.
Arsenic water unreported
The location on the Columbia River is gorgeous, but the campground is run down and super basic anyway. Water has arsenic and is no good to drink or cook with. You have to bring your own water, or buy theirs, which they don't mention on their website or on here. No cell service, no wifi and no laundry. Otherwise it is quiet and lovely. But impossible to do basic tasks. The hosts chose to put us in site #30, which is in the extended area of RV sites, away from the river, no shade trees, just a bare gravel lot that is nothing like the photos on their website. The nice shade and river view is a short walk away, tantalizingly close, but cannot be enjoyed at all at these sites. I returned to the office and asked for a better site, but they said they were all booked. Several nice shady sites remained empty throughout our stay. I was very disappointed that we weren't given one of those nice shady sites. See map in my photos and do not take any of sites 29-43. They are packed together and terrible!
Beautiful scenery and great quiet private island
Flat gravel for most part, steps away from the Columbia River, decent space between sites with good shade depending on your site. Only reason for 4 starts is because the water is dirty. It's brownish and smells like metal. Make sure to bring your own fresh water.

Surprisingly pleasant
Agree with previous reviews. Quiet area on the Oregon side of the river, rustic with a little country charm. Nice folks. Great area for birding (osprey nests). Or park your chair on the bank and watch the occasional ship putter by just a stone's throw from shore.
Nice Getaway for the day .
Been coming here since I was a child and I have always loved this place !!
Nice quiet place along the river.
I only got to stay here for an evening before returning a rental RV but the stay was pleasant and I watched a few ships glide by on the river. Definitely would like to return for a longer stay.
