Milo McIver State Park Campground

Really nice and peaceful until it got late. Some group behind us blared heavy metal, yelled etc and decided 1am would be a great time to start. Ranger was really good at telling them to stfu. Water was accessible, nice fire pit. Look forward to doing some winter camping.

The hosts for the month of September (Freddy & Kim) are obsessed with leaf blowers and driving around in loud, diesel off-road buggies when an electric golf cart is an option. The leaf blower stuff is just extreme though. I’ve had to ask them to stop (after literal hours of it mostly on and some off) both of the weeks I’ve camped here. You can’t think, read/write, nap, etc.

While I appreciate the fastidiousness of keeping a clean area, it completely ruins being in nature. Especially when you spend the money and time to be in it. There should be rules around noise for park hosts, as well…they were substantially more disruptive than all of the other campers, combined. Just zero consideration around people that spend time/money/gas to enjoy getting away from all of the city noises. Wish I could get my money back.

With that said, the actual park/forest/river are amazing. Just be prepared for it to be noisy while you try to enjoy it. Oh yeah, great restrooms and showers.

Amazing spot— gorgeous, full of wildlife, and lots of wonderful trails close by. There’s a wildlife viewing area are close by. We saw so many elk, water birds, and at least 5 bald eagles (with a nest close by.)

Took a day to hang out in the surrounding woods in a hammock.

Amenities are pretty good—but no laundry and there’s a sump station.

No laundry. No WiFi and minimal cell service for both Verizon and ATT.

The surrounding area is beautiful, close to Portland and has many trails.

The spots are tiny and not easy to fit in we had a 25’ trailer and our truck struggled to not be on the road.

Great ranger super clean calm beautiful very well situated campgrounds and plenty of beautiful walks by the river, woods and lake…. very peaceful…

Oregon State Parks are the best in the west. This is yet another with full hookups and great amenities and activities– all at a great price. This is a seasonal park that closes on 10/31. If you are looking for a nearby alternative during the fall and winter months, check out Champoeg State Park which is south of Portland. Good site spacing and privacy. Clean bathrooms with decent locations A rated.  The dog run is fantastic.....almost two acres.

Again in the pouring rain we were received very nicely, although we had to fear that we would not be able to get a space due to an event. But 4 pitches with electricity and water for $35 were still available. If it hadn't rained, we would have walked through the beautiful, huge park.

Stayed one night in my tent camper. Nice big sites. No privacy though. Lots of trees, but no bushes between neighbors. Despite a park ranger on site, one camper had a loud, pounding stereo system on for hours when I got in. Street noise went on all night. Racing cars, loud engines. Had hoped to do some hiking, but deluging rain and then super muddy trails made me just pack up and leave early. When I pulled in Sunday night signs out front said “campground full”, but out of 43 sites maybe 10 were occupied?

Right on the Clackamas River, and this is just absolutely gorgeous country. Top it off this is definitely one of the top ten best disc golf courses in America to visit. A must see stop for sure.

Enjoyed our stay. The park is on the Clackamas River. A horse trail traverses the river. It’s a great place to walk the dogs. Canoe rentals, fishing pier, disc golf and more.

Site was nice and private, staff was very friendly, and the grounds were pretty clean! A short hike will take you right to the river and there’s plenty of nice trail to explore. If stepping around occasional horse poop isn’t your thing, maybe skip the hike though. Plenty of horses and dogs around.

The group site at Milo McIver is clean and spacious, in the trees and relatively close to the river.

This was a great camping spot close to Portland. Only 45 mins from my house. The campground is on the popular Clackamas River where lots of day-users come to float and kayak. The day use areas can get overrun. The campground is very close to the lake which is a great spot to put in a kayak or SUP or go swimming. 

The sites were forested, spacious and private. The actual park is huge. Lots of people riding horses on trails. There's a big off leash dog area and a disc golf course-that I did not play. A nice overlook area to have a picnic, see three mountains and watch the people float down the river. 

The dump station could use an upgrade.

Tent area is separate from RVs and it has lots of privacy. Camp host is very sweet, he brought fire wood to my tent. Nice trails and lake, nice bathroom/shower. It is about 100 yard walk through forested trail to showers and you can't park your car in your tent camp but it is small so the parking is very close. I like how forested the area is.

A lush campground just outside of Portland. It’s an easy drive into the city from here, a little further to get to the Columbia River Gorge for some great hikes. Flush toilets and tons of free hot showers. The bathrooms were very nice. I got very good cell service.

There is an area for tents, closed during the off season, and an area with full hookups which has reservations year round. The full hookup sites were huge. The park also has an off leash dog area. I saw rangers driving around periodically, though the campground hosts always seemed to be off duty. I felt very safe here and enjoyed my stay.

This campground is fabulous. Some spots are a bit small but we didn't mind because we didn't spend much time in our spot. The grounds are pet friendly so we also had the dogs with us. 

We spent much of our time fishing and rafting on the lake, feeding seeds to squirrels, letting the dogs run in the off leash area, and just hiking around the park. It's big, so most times we had to get in the car to drive to a separate area for each activity but that wasn't a problem for us. 

Bathrooms we're clean and relatively close with easy access, although it was just a tad uneven so for anyone with mobility issues, they might want to verify that it is accessible for their needs.

I have stayed here many times both in an RV and in tent sites. The campground is well maintained and the hosts have been great each time I have been there.

Estacada lake is within walking distance, and there is salmon fishing within driving distance inside of the park. There is also a "bat" barn that is close by.

I like this park and highly recommend it.

They have a dog park, plenty of trails, several different areas to go down to the river, frisbee golf, area for horses. Good showers. There’s a great view point to see Mt. Hood. It really is a nice place.

I was so excited to find a camping spot that was close enough to bike to. The hiker/biker sites are first come first serve, which was a little nerve wrecking.. We went late April though, to better our chances of finding a spot. We did and there was only one other person there. Though the way the site is set up... there's only one table and one firepit. So you have to be willing to talk to people. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy having to converse with a random man all night.....

Best campground, best hosts, great spots, nice showers. My favorite.

There's an amazing walk around the water with spots to stop and spend the day fishing, picnicking, talking, picking up garbage, laughing and relaxing without a care on the world. This is my happy place!

Just 45 minutes outside of Portland, and near the town of Estacada, is Milo McIver State Park, which I consider to be a quintessential Oregon State Park: lots of huge evergreen trees, large campsites, plenty of hiking areas and places to explore including a river.

There are two main loops in the main campground. The larger has 44 or so RV campsites, which can also be used for tents, plus a bathroom with flush toilets and hot showers. Nearby is a smaller loop of 9 or so tent-only sites that seem a bit more private.

We went during a vintage trailer rally, which was a ton of fun, since you could walk around and see everyone's trailers. There's also a Frisbee golf course and some fields to explore as well.

Overall, a nice, fun campground near Portland with larger sites and just enough to keep you busy.

If your travels take you near Portland OR. and you need a nice spot to camp or horseback check out this park, it’s an easy 30 miles east of PDX and has over 900 acres to explore including a frisbee golf course. The park is located on the Clackamas river with some views of Mt. Hood to the east. There are many trails for horses and corrals.

great spot to start an all day float! lots of parking!

A large state park located near Estacada on the banks of the Clackamas River, Milo McIver is a well-loved Oregon state park. Because it's close to Portland, it is very busy. The main campsite area is set for tents as well as RVs with electric and water hookups available. Campsites are kind of close together but well appointed with bathrooms/showers available. There is a small tent-only area also available but the sites are kind of cramped and they all spin off a common parking area with little privacy.

The park overall has lots of different open spaces for hiking, interpretive programs, disc golf, fishing, areas for horse riding, and a great overlook on the Clackamas River.

Granted, it's been 90 degrees everyday so anything near water feels incredible. BUT nothing quite as incredible as the ice, rushing Clackamas river!!!!!

We stayed at this park for 3 days and it was such a trip. 2 adults, 2 kids and a pup had plenty of space on a tent site. The bathrooms were great and not to far of a trek, but for convenience they set up and ADA accessible portapotty near the tent camping area. The rangers were kind and helpful, as were the park hosts.

Whether you're going for a full day of floating down the river (rentals offered at one of the boat launch areas) or want to climb your way down to a secluded chunk of river bend and hitch your float to a tree or rock, there is so much this park has to offer!

Lots of campsites but books up early in the season. short trip to estacada lake. the lake is packed with kayakers and people who don't understand how the boat launch is designed for people launching their boats...not trying to figure out their floaties.

Its Huge, many camp spots. Big open fields for discgolf, you can bring your horses to ride in designated areas. And bring your kayacks!

Great place to camp. It has wonderful hiking trails. There is swimming available in the warmer months in the Clackamas River. Horse trails for equestrians and fishing!

Campgrounds were nice, check to make sure spot is large enough, far walk to the river, but the water is fun to play in!
