National Forest
Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest
Overview
Farewell Bend Campground was constructed in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corp. The campground is located 18 miles west of Crater Lake National Park and in the midst of an old growth forest. There are 60 campsites that can accommodate trailers, rvs and tents. The Rogue River is located within the campground allowing for fishing and swimming.__ Union Creek Resort is within a mile from the campground and provides access to a convenience store, restaurant, ice cream shop and lodging.__
Recreation
The entire length of the Upper Rogue River is closely followed by the Upper Rogue River Trail. The trail is hiker-only and easily traveled for short segments at a time. Hikers can also enjoy the Rogue Gorge Trail System that travels from Farewell Bend Campground through Union Creek Campground and down to Natural Bridge Day Use Area.__
Facilities
This large campground contains a variety of campsites to accommodatetents trailers and rvs. Drinking water and flush toilets are provided, as well as picnic tables and campfire rings. Firewood is available for purchase at the Campground Host Site.
Natural Features
The Upper Rogue River is fed by snowmelt and springs originating on the peaks of the Cascade Range, including the slopes of Mt. Mazama___the volcanic caldera that contains Crater Lake. Along the uppermost portion of the Upper Rogue, the river is narrow and shallow, but very swift. The river has, for a two-mile stretch, carved more than 200 feet down into the Mazama pumice (which was deposited about 8,000 years ago during the explosion that created Crater Lake). Downstream, the Upper Rogue passes through the narrow, turbulent Rogue Gorge of black lava and soon plunges entirely underground (into a lava tube) for about 250 feet at Natural Bridge. Interpretive trails at both of these places provide good views of the river, with signs that explain the natural history.__

Best campground on Hgwy 62
This was the last of several USFS campgounds I visited between Prospect and Union Gap along Highway 62 and undoubtedly the finest.
Very nicely spaced sites, potable water, flush toilets and showers. No electricity.

Beautiful spot right by the river
We stayed in site 9 the first night, then realized the following morning that it’s a joined spot with another with very little privacy. Fortunately we were able to move to 39 which was huge and very private and right in rogue river. We had an awesome time and will definitely be back!
Clean campground!
It's a clean and large campground with flush toilet. It got some fun hiking trails around it. And it's 15 mins drive away from crater lake national park.

Farewell bend Weekend Trip
We stayed at campsite 96. The host was attentive and very helpful. Restrooms/Showers were nearby and clean enough for camping. The river is primarily used for boating access, when we went we couldn't get to the water due to mud. The actual site was very nice, spacious, easily accessible, and set up well. My 5 year old was thrilled that we saw a wild rabbit! Nice, quiet, very boat friendly place.
Not in winter
Paying for essentially a parking spot. Current bush was on but little else. They also close the main dump site. So you can't get water and you can't dump. All that for $34 a night for out of state. They also charge for extra cars in the same camp. Park was pretty enough. They're raising a bumper crop of goatheads so watch the dogs and your shoes or you'll have them in your camper.
Great spot for a stopover
This was a nice park. Spots are easy to maneuver and camp hosts were nice folks.
Flies are everywhere and some mosquitos, but wasn’t bad.
Kind of funny that right outside the park the time zone changes. ATT service was terrible
ADA kind
Nice riverfront. Clean. Paved road and parking.
Other campers reviwes wrong campground
The other campers reviews the OTHER Farewell Bend Campground near the Idaho Oregon state line.
This campground had a very rustic vibe to it with no open spaces. It was complete canopy cover and the river access was to a creek that was fast flowing and gave great background noise, but no swimming access. Fishing was good though I hear.
Though there were many campsites open from no shows the camp had no accommodations (cancellation after a day of no-show) to allow campers access to those sites. The sites that say they are close to others are literally so close we wouldn’t have been able to open our slides and the ROAD NOISE was awful. The bathrooms were tolerable. The camp host was not wearing a mask and when we expressed concern about the closeness of the other campsite we were told Covid was a hoax. They did allow us to switch sites but made us PAY AGAIN.
I would not ever visit this site again.
My favorite spot EVER to camp!
Very clean, not a ton of insects (bring mosquito repellent), some spots very private, mostly semi-open. Great play area for kids, great place to ride bikes, ice cream shop, store and restaurant within walking distance. Trail along the river leads you on a magical journey. Sandy beach at the south end of the campground, the northern spots are the perfect fishing spots (1-30ish) right off the shelf. Rogue Gorge is very close and is a must see when traveling through this area.
Easy access to Crater Lake, beautiful Rogue River right there!
We ended up camping here when Crater Lake campgrounds were full. There were several sites open. It was an easy drive to and from the national park and the time spent at the campground was beautiful in itself - our site backed up to the Rogue River and had some great downed trees and rocky banks available to sit on by the river and read, just watch the water rush by, or dip feet in. The bathrooms were nice and seemed relatively new; no showers, but there were a few spigots around and it was easy to wash hair in those. The campground had bear-proof trash cans. (Camped July of 2017)
Great location
Very nice campground on the bank of Rogue river. 30 min from crater lake. Fully shaded. A lot of muscitoes, anti muscito spay is must. Private access to the river. River water current is strond, good to sleep with this continuous noise.
Little park along the highway
We just stopped here for the night, but it’s a pretty place to spend time out on the lake. Also neat for history buffs, since this was an important site on the Oregon trail. The campground is pretty large and modern-ish but basic, the ranger programs stand out as special. We’d return and spend more time.
