About

County

Located in Lane County's Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area, Armitage is a 64-acre oasis a few miles south of historic Coburg. Armitage offers visitors a full array of day use amenities including a paved boat ramp, ample trailer parking, volleyball and horseshoe pits, two dog parks (one for larger dogs and the other for smaller dogs, and several rentable large group picnic sites with electricity, cooking facilities, and drinking water.

Its natural amenities include old growth deciduous and evergreen trees. A half-mile, self-guided interpretive trail constructed by the McKenzie Watershed Council winds through undeveloped portions of the park. Armitage is a favorite place to begin or end a boat trip, take a tranquil walk, and for large group picnic gatherings. Armitage also regularly serves as a staging area for emergency search and rescue training operations.

Reservations are accepted both on-line, over the phone and in person. All reservations are charged a $10 reservation processing fee regardless of the modality used to reserve. Well laid out RV Park

Lots of blackberry bushes near most sites. Our site was a level back-in on asphalt. Full hook up available. Partly shaded. McKenzie river runs behind park a few hundred yards. Supposedly good fishing. Park staff and host friendly and helpful.

Can't Get Away From That $10 Reservation Fee

We wanted to stay here because we had an appointment in Eugene, but balked at the $10 online reservation fee, so decided to just show up and get a spot, because usually that works out just fine for us.  Well, by the time we arrived, the campground was full (even though it was the middle of the week), and then I saw the little sign at the host's kiosk that a $10 fee will be added to your first night's stay.  Bah.

Hosts were friendly and overall the campground looked very nice and well kept.  There are showers and laundry here.

It's close to Eugene, so it's convenient if you have business in town.

The RV / hookup spots out on the main loop looked more open and trim, but the tent / no hookup area in the back was more lush with trees and shade and greenery.

Campground Open Year Round

This campground is open and there is no warning in effect. I have no idea why The Dyrt has inaccurate info on this page. I tried to update the listing but there is no option to correct it so I contacted customer service but they said they would not help. The campground definitely is not closed, though, and there is no warning or any other advisory in effect.

As other reviews have stated, this is a great place to stay for a couple nights if you are in the area for a specific reason. It isn’t a great place if you’re just planning to hang out at the campsite. The trail along the river is pretty limited and the sites are close together. The one thing about some of the full hookup pull-through sites that was a huge bummer is the picnic table and fire pit are on the wrong side of your camper. If you want to sit at the picnic table or have a fire at your site, you’re sitting along the main road instead of with your camper in between to give some privacy. I have not seen this at other campgrounds. Probably because most people don’t want to be in the middle of the road when they’re hanging out. Our site was one of the ones like this and we tried sitting out there for a bit one evening but it was just awkward. Not every full hookup pull-through site was like this but a lot of them were so choose wisely if you can.

The camp host is super nice, firewood is available at $5/bundle, and there is a dog park. The dog park is not exclusive to the campground, however, so it’s very busy since it’s public. $35/night for a basic site and $38.50/night for full hookups. There is quite a bit of open grassy area, which was nice to walk the dogs through, but again everything is public so you’re sharing it with day use people or anyone who wants to come in and hang out for a bit. The bathrooms are functional and pretty clean, although the water does not work consistently in the sink in the women’s restroom near the first few sites. There are showers and laundry.

Quiet and Convenient

Easy to find from I-5 and very close to Costco. Quiet location away from the road noise and has nice walking path along the McKenzie River. Camping sites are nicely spaced with trees for privacy and shade. Nothing fancy but everything works. Grounds maintenance fell a bit behind, likely due to the COVID closures. None the less a very affordable park close to Eugene.

Spendy City Park

More city park than campground. Expensive for the amenities offered (no shower) and no privacy or greenery. Caters better to an RV passing through town than to someone looking for a camping experience.

It is on the McKenzie River, which is beautiful and cold.

Electric/sewer/water, pull thru, quiet with very little road noise and right on a river. I loved the quietness & low cost of this place. And a straight shot to Costco gas from here!

Charming Campground

This is one of my favorite campgrounds that we’ve come across in OR, it’s very charming & quaint. Perfect place for dog owners as they have the best dog park; it’s actually the community dog park, so they’re always dogs/people there. The sites here are spaced enough so you don’t feel like you’re in a traditional RV park. The hosts are nice, grounds are clean and there’s great opportunities for walking & fishing.

Pleasant surprise

This was a pleasant surprise as we were making our way through Oregon. We selected a pull through because we were only doing an overnight. Electricity was solid 30 amps. ATT reception was decent. We were impressed with the spacing between sites for a county park. We also appreciated having a couple of shade trees.

Gas and supplies were a 10-15 minute drive with lots of options. There’s even a Costco for cheap gas.

We reserved online which is convenient. Not sure why there is an additional fee. Would definitely stay here again and spend some time.

Great park close to Eugene

Loved this park! The campsites were nicely situated so you weren’t right on top of each other and the park was great. There is an off leash dog park and access to the river. The laundry and showers were closed due to COVID but the public restrooms were still open and were just fine. Would definitely stay here again

Nice County Park But Noisy for Us

I can completely see why people would like this park. It has amazing facilities, super-nice staff people, clean bathrooms. The shower was honestly almost nicer than the one I have at home. There's plenty of space for playing around in the creek or riding bikes. You can pick blackberries. All-in-all, a very lovely campground.

However, we happened to hit this park at just the wrong time. For hours and hours there was some kind of maintenance crew backing up with their trucks. We were also right next to the parking lot, which is where a very loud group of men decided to meet up to go fishing at 4 in the morning.

Other than the annoying noise, definitely a nice spot.

Nice Country Park Near Eugene

Nice little county park on the banks of the McKenzie River in Coburg Oregon, just north of Eugene. A handful of wal-in tent spots on site with a couple of larger RV/camper site loops on hand as well. Groups campsites also available. Very nice showers as well as laundry facilities. Flush toilets, water, and electric hookups in the RV spots with dump stations also on-site.

Also, as a nice perk, there is a free wi-fi network that worked pretty well. Very affordable and we had a very friendly camp host. Popular spot so book early and there’s not that many spots, so books up quickly. There’s a nice walk that takes you right to the river/shoreline.

Close to Eugene and by the river!

The on-site host is available by phone at 1pm to 2pm and I believe 4pm to 5pm. Otherwise you have to call the main line and book a space. It’s $20 or $30 for a tent site and $30 for a rv site. I have stayed there multiple times. It has showers and bathrooms and it is clean and safe. It’s a great place to stay close to town and avoid the hotel scene.

Open year round and it is usually full year round as well. Reservations are definitely a must for this small campground!

This campground has all the amenities! Full hook up sites, toilets/ showers, laundry, swimming/boat ramp, picnic area, and even a dog park. Wide variety of site sizes and can accommodate most RV sizes. There are also hiking trails nearby.

Close to town so you can easily get forgotten supplies or groceries. Perfect stay for a quick overnight when in town for Ducks games or just getting out of the house!

Quick stop with all the amenities!

We stopped here along our route home to California and it’s definitely cozy. Very accommodating to RV’s but quite a few tent campers like use were pitched in as well. Hot showers, WiFi, laundry and charming shops along the road leading in made us feel very much like we were glamping. Loads of stars at night and no freeway noise from Interstate 5. Lots of open space for kids to play or to set up a game of volleyball or badminton.

If your staying here on the weekend make sure you reserve your spot early they are always booked on the weekends. It was right next to the river. The sound put me right too sleep. They have awesome showers and front load washers and dryers. There was nothing for the kids to play on but they have a dog walk area. There is also a boat ramp. The night was quiet and peaceful.

Bigger Than Expected, Convenient

It's $33 a night, but hey, at least you get a lot of somethings for it. These are 32 reservable sites, pretty well spread out with - bonus - vegetation between some campsites. Overall it kind of has a little bit of a sanitized, urban feel with what's on the outskirts of the campground, but it's fairly open and roomy, there's a boat ramp to the large McKenzie River, an active park host in an active go-cart, a volleyball court, lots of room to walk and walk dogs (includes a 2-acre dog park), horseshoe pits and, because it's just a few miles north of Eugene I suspect, wi-fi (that could be a good or bad thing). Drinking water, flush toilets? But of course. You won't be blown-away, but you won't be disappointed. A clean, well-organized camping area, a step up from KOAs for those true campers out there (and you know who you are...).
