Findley State Park Campground

Absolutely love Findley. So much wildlife and great campsites. Amazing trails including bike trails for beginners up to advanced. We always have a great time.

When we pulled in, we seemed to be the only campers down the middle row. We backed in and had plenty of space at our site. Not secluded though and no privacy from neighbors if we had any. Location was convenient since we are traveling East and going to Cuyahoga NP in the morning. The campground seemed quiet until we were woken up several times by a nearby train. As a light sleeper this woke me up way too often. There was no fee to get into the park which was nice but there was a $6.50 fee for booking online.

We only had a brief stay but it was a very nice park. The only downfall I saw is that it is not full hook up in most spots. It looked like there was a lot to do and it was a nice family place. Everyone was out and about.

Shady sites offered! This campground was super quite and enjoyable. Some of my favorite sites were located well in the wood line.

Campsite #79 was sunny and there were no neighbors on either side of us. We rode our bikes around the nice large campground. We took our kids on an abbreviated version of the Thorn mountain bike trail. We all loved it! We did get confusing information about the MTB trail from the nice campground staff, but with help from some maps, we figured it out. We enjoyed paddling in the SUP around the lake. We underestimated how much fun we would have here at this small park. You can borrow Discs at the campground entrance to play the Disc golf course. The bathrooms could be better cared for.

We went to this campground to join the winter hike with the Buckeye Trail. It was still snowy out and most of the pads were covered. We wanted to be close to one of the drop toilets as the shower houses are not open in the off-season. We couldn’t really see our pad length so we were off just a little bit, but we have a small camper so we fit in fine. The only toilets available for us were the drop toilets and they were actually pretty clean. Some sites are really shaded. Some are not. Most of the park is split in half with electric versus non-electric. There’s a playground for kids, two shower houses and a nature center. There are lots of trails and you can kayak.

This park had a few cool things we haven't seen at the other state parks yet. Cute things like a bike repair station that holds your bike and has tethered tools to use, an outdoor "take a book, leave a book" library with a "take a stick, leave a stick" area for the dogs, dog tie ups and dog pick up bags around the entire park and a Storybook trail that has storybook characters throughout the hike. There is a very small but interactive nature center with a live bee hive and a small store, many picnic areas, tons of parking to access the various lake and trails, including a medium size beach with restrooms and a seasonal concession stand.

We stayed at site 210 and absolutely loved it. It is one of the larger sites, separated by trees and plenty of spots to hang some hammocks. One site over was one of the MANY paths to the MANY trails throughout the entire park. I'm not sure I've ever seen so many hiking and biking trails in a single location and is clearly one of the parks biggest attractions. The trail behind our site went along the lake that you could just see through the woods from our site and branched off in many directions. We stayed "out of season" and during the week so it was extremely peaceful and vacant. The shower houses were very modern and well kept. My only issue was the showerheads being under 6' high on the walls was a bit awkward. Also, cell service was surprisingly good at our actual site but extremely spotty anywhere else in the park. I have Mint (T-mobile/Sprint) and my wife has Verizon. 

Now for the neutrals and negatives. All sites, except for the few full hook-ups and handicap sites, are gravel and not the most level. The park only has flush toilets in the couple shower houses. The latrines' throughout the park are a mix from very new style latrines' with LED lights, to rental porta-potties. Maybe due to it being so late in the season but the latrine in the center of our cul-de-sac was extremely full, smelled at our site quite often and was more full of sewer flies then I have ever seen. 

The majority of the campsites are non-electric. These areas are much more tree covered and seem to have much larger sites. Unfortunately, these are also the majority of the areas with the rental porta-potties.

It was difficult to find pictures or reviews of the Findlay group sites. It honestly seemed to me that they didn't exist, so I thought I'd do the service of taking some pictures.

The group sites are away from the main campsites, so you should have plenty of space for your group to set up and enough distance between them to not disturb the peace if you have a large group. OGA2 is heavily forested, I'm not sure about OGA1. There are plenty of trees so both hammock and tent campers should be accommodated. The fire pit is large and there are 4 picnic tables.

The campsite is about 75 yards from the parking area, and there is a vault toilet right before the parking area.

Decent sized lots which are nicely wooded! They have showers and toilet facilities!

Lake is great for fishing, kayaking tubing and paddle board. Nice little beach as well

This park has a great playground, nice showers, plenty of trails and a great beach area. The sites are kinda small, but it wasn't overly crowded.

Findley State Park is a huge campground with both RV and tent sites. Paved roads. Shower facilities. Grey and black water dump sites. Laundry ($1.50 for wash or dry). Near a lake, trails. The sites off each camp loop offer the most privacy.

Findley state park is well maintained large park! We can easily get lost on 3 mile hikes in the woods and still be on marked paths! The roads are paved and excellent for biking and skating. About half the sites are for tent or dry camping. Half have electric and a few of those have full hookups. We have enjoyed the shade at our site this week and the space between us and our neighbors.

Shower houses are clean. Canoes and kayaks are available for renting. Many musicians set up camp and would jam out for some live evening music! Everyone was so nice at the campground. We enjoyed our stay.

We were just stopping over on our way from here to there. I’d love to come back for a longer stay.

I stayed here on a road trip and got in relatively late, around 8:30. Good signage to the camping sites, very easy to navigate. There’s a bathroom/shower house near the sites, as well as a fire ring at each individual site. Dirt in the campsites is packed super tight, it’s hard to drive tent stakes. However, it’s flat enough where it isn’t really an issue.

Truly enjoyed a long weekend exploring the trails and sitting by the lake. Well maintained. Great folks. Beautiful lots. We will be back!

We had a great time at Findley State Park Campground the past weekend! The camp staff was extremely friendly and made a great first impression. We reserved two sites (20 & 21) and both sites had plenty of space! I was amazed at how large each site was. Bathroom, water and dumpster was close by. Easy hiking and plenty of road to bike along. Felt very safe as the camp hosts and rangers drove by several times throughout the day. We can’t wait to go back!

We probably didn’t see this park at its best since COVID-19 was still causing restrictions. The sites were not mowed and very wet. They trails had not been maintained in awhile and our full hookup site the water wasn’t working and the sewer was full so we still had to dump and the main dump station. I did love all the tall trees! FHS 252

Great place for family camping. Many different sites to choose from and the pines are beautiful. The hiking around the lake is really neat and the disc golf looks fun! We didn’t have discs but would bring some next time! Can’t say it’s the quietest of places but that could have just been our experience.

There are places to hike, boats to rent, fishing, a store and of course swimming, but the lake was a mess and actually not able to be used (algae).

The site was nice and secluded, but you could hear road noise at all hours of the day, so it wasn't very quiet. It was my first time there, so maybe another spot would be netter, but I don't know if I'll go back.

Fairly level gravel pads. Lots of spaces close but not on top of each other.

If you're looking for a quiet place to hang your pole for a weekend, this near-city escape is for you! Less than an hour from downtown Cleveland, and minutes from historic downtowns Wellington and Oberlin, Ohio, is a quiet, wooded retreat with all the amenities.

Fishing, canoeing, and kayaking (rentals and bait available too!) are offered on Findley Lake, as well as a small, uncrowded public beach. Have your own small, non-motorized craft? There is a designated kayak launch at the boat launch area. For day campers, there are numerous sites around this large state park for picnicking and events, bonfire pits and fishing inlets....and bring your frisbees because there is also an extensive frisbee golf course.

The campground consists of several "arms", roads that branch out from the main road, with a good deal of wooded area between for rear site privacy between them. Beware, the sites are close to these roads and quite shallow, but because each road dead ends in a cul de sac, traffic is very light, even when the campground is full, as when we visited. Tall, dense trees surround, deadening sound, which makes the campsites very quiet, and the curve of each "arm" also suggests a more intimate space than the actual site sq footage does. There is a tent only side, with no hookups or electric, where sites are slightly larger and deeper, tucked between treed areas, and the other half of the campground is with hookups, and nearer to the lake, although it is not visible, but accessible by short path. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table, pretty standard. There are openings into the wood behind the "arms" for kids to explore, but beware of poison oak, which is prevalent and can be found along the edge of where the campsites all meet the woods...it didn't creep into the woods much, but watch out anyway if you have an allergy. Our group was able to avoid it.

There is a clearing at the entrance to the campground with a large playground, camp store with pizza and ice, occasional vegetable dealers, farmers market style, set up with carts around outside there as well. And if you forgot anything, have no fear, town is only minutes away. Cabin rental is also available in this area. Pets are welcome leashed.

Overall, it's a spot worth spending some time at. Convenient family fun for all.

As a Dyrt Ranger, I have the opportunity to try out new and fun camp gear and in this case COFFEE! Which could not have been more well received for these quiet mornings by the lakeside. Admittedly, at first I had my reservations. I enjoy a good coffee and am a great lover of my french press. But also admittedly, I hate cleaning it out campside. Nature's Coffee Kettle allows me to forgo the part I hate and keep the pour over we all love. With a wide selection from Columbian, to darker or flavored roasts, and even hot cocoa and teas for those toasty nights, Nature's Coffee Kettle impressed me. It comes in it's own reusable kettle bag, although I felt that, when changing out the coffee packs (refill packs are sold) after the initial use, the coffee was not as potent as the first use...probably because once the water is poured through, the bag doesn't stick together as well, holding the coffee to steep as long. (Refer to video review) Regardless, I enjoyed the ease of use, quality of the coffee and pourability. I was able to make a kettle in the morning, screw the spout lid back on and take it with me to the lake later for refills. Later when we went across country for a trip, I was able to board the plane with it in my carry on, flat, hardly taking up any room, and so convenient for those hiking or packing trips. It was fantastic, and easy as pie...which goes great with coffee, coincidentally...

Full hook side is more urban environment with sites right next to each other. The rustic side has no hook ups and is more engulfed in the trees but not many very secluded sites. Some have a separate area in the woods behind the site offering some more privacy. Shower houses are nice.

Loved this campground, lots of trails to walk and mt. bike trails to ride. The beach is ok but you can rent various styles of watercraft to explore the lake. I would recommend doing a some research on campsites as they range from small to large for the same price. The original site I booked was a tent site to small for 2 tents ( one larger n one smaller) #131 non electric however I was able to switch to another sight #118 which was a larger. The campground office was super nice and friendly in switching the sites to accommodate me.( site 118 had water 2 sites down, an outhouse 5 sites down and nice clean rest rooms just a short walk away maybe 9 sites down, playground and camp store/ nature center isn’t to far away to walk but biking would be best, camp store is on the small side but had all the basic essentials and they had good wood bundles to choose from with a reasonable price, If they done have something a dollar general is 7 min down the road)

Camp is never over crowded and well kept. the lake is nice and has lots of neat snails.

Have came to this campground approx. 50 years. Lots of walking trails, lots of nature. Once off my favorite local ohio parks.

great except weather, but the park is a favorite of mine. came lots of times when I was a child, brought my 2 boys every year when they were young, now enjoying same park in retirement. lots of walking trails, beach not so perfect, only 15 spots with full hook up, but is a great place to get back with nature. shut off the social media, and enjoy.
