Convenient and Clean

Needed a place with hookups before the ABQ Balloon Fiesta dry camping.  This served that purpose.  Clean sites and laundry facilities.  Freeway noise and sites right next to each other were the negatives.

However for a night it worked out just fine.

Albuquerque, NM- Great place one of our faves

Good location, friendly office staff. The pool was clean with plenty of chairs and quiet. Laundromat was clean and open 24 hours. Very large park all with nice RV’s. It was very quiet. Had a nice dig area- although I wish it had been divided up a bit so more than one person could bring their dog without joining whoever was already there. Last night we were there a lady had 3 large dogs who she said were friendly but when one ran over to the gate and snarled at mine we left. Our little girl was so disappointed- she wanted to play in the park. But it was clean, benches were in the shade and they provided bags for disposal. Had a nice playground for kids also. Gift shop and grocery were appealing and organized. If we came back to this area we’d stay again. The only con- the gate into the park had a code but the box was so far over you can’t reach it, especially with a camper or large truck without getting out. So it was a pain.

Pricey but nice

Nice location, close to Petroglyph National Monument and downtown Amarillo. Easy access off 40. Nice gated area with large, level sites. Could get pretty congested with not a lot of space between sites. Verizon cell service was really bad and wifi barely reached my site. Only 2 showers and 2 bathroom stalls for the large park. Would be 3 stars for how expensive it was with limited amenities. But I liked that it was gated and the front desk staff was very helpful.

Road Trip

We decided to move from UT to KS and with doing that take a road trip. We cut down to AZ then across I40. The campground was very friendly when we called. The email confirmation did say 6pm but they currently close at 5 pm. It was nice that they had a very clear after hours box and left everything we needed. Very close to the freeway so a lot of road noise even inside the RV. It is about 7 mile west of town but that was no issue for us. Of course it is desert area so goat heads are a big problem. The front restrooms and laundry was very clean. We came basically out of season so we don’t think there is a lot of maintenance during this time as it is basically winter. No matter what though everything worked and there were no issues. Probably would not return due to the road noise but that would be the only reason.

Nice RV resort

We normally don't choose RV resorts but as RV resorts go this one is nice. There are large trees in the campground providing shade and a small grassy area between campsites. Level concrete sites with picnic tables at each site. Nice, clean laundry room and bathrooms. Unfortunately, the pool was not open during our stay. Would have been nice in August.

Good overnight

Full hook ups, gravel, rock, paved, or concrete pad. Mostly level. Nice bathrooms/showers and laundry. Easy access off of route 40. Close shopping. Good amount of space for campers. Some road noise but not too bad.

Great for a quick stop

Loved the campground. We only did an overnight and it's 20 minutes away from the Peroglyp's national monument. Close to the gas station too. Campground site is pretty clean and best of all we saw a bunch of rabbits.

Worst RV Park In The Country

Notice that American RV Resort, 13500 Central Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121 was Good Sam Approved.

The night we pulled in our information was not available for our reservation (made it eight months in advance). After speaking with and getting disconnected three times with your 800 number, being left out in the heat as well as in the dark we called and spoke with your emergency maintenance man. He provided the gate code and a spot for us for the night. Half way through the night the power stopped working...essentially we paid for a parking spot.

The next morning we went to the office, after a 20 minute wait we were told that we needed to move to make way for someone else that reserved that spot (horrible customer service after screwing up our reservation). Additionally, "due to COVID" the park did not have enough staff to operate any of the amenities NOT EVEN BASIC amenities like the bathrooms and showers (we stayed in four other RV parks during that week, not one of them used the "COVID excuse" to not provide what was paid for).

We were then moved to another spot and again the power went out...this time we called the emergency maintenance man and we were told regardless of the 85 degree heat, that maybe it would be fixed that night but most likely not; again not even offering the most basic customer service of providing a spot that had working electricity. So again for a second night we essentially paid for a parking spot. Out of our entire cross country trip this reservation was the only one to allow us to pay for an experience at your park and not even deliver what we could have done for free in a Walmart parking lot.

As a business owner myself, I found it completely unprofessional to advertise services that you knowingly could not provide, and disparaging that this business would be so willing to take our money and not take the most basic of customer service steps of having someone reach out to inform us of the lack of basic services available. I reached out for a refund but have received zero response.

No showers or bathrooms

They can blame COVID all they want, but to not have showers and bathrooms available is totally unacceptable! I made a reservation several months ago expecting “resort” accommodations. They didn’t think to mention the showers and bathrooms were closed. And I didn’t receive and update. However- they were sure to mention the no cancellation policy! And, there was no staff on site to address our concerns! Totally unacceptable! Will never go back.

Good for a night

Clean and maintained. Easy access to I40. Highway noise very noticeable, but luckily it doesn’t bother us. Due to covid, pool, playground, bathrooms and continental breakfast closed down. Cable tv is a plus, “high speed” WiFi is not very high speed.

A quaint pull-through park

A well organized park by a helpful staff. The pull-through sites are easily assessable and long enough for an F250 w/30’ travel trailer and not be detached. The park is clean and quaint. *Pet friendly but doesn’t allow “outside pet cages, kennels, or pet fencing” probably because they don’t want the dogs outside alone. Overall, and it being the first time visit I would recommend American RV Resort.@

Great overnight stay

We stayed here one night in April, 2020, during the height of the Coronavirus shutdown. We live in Albuquerque, and just wanted to take our little Class A out to stretch her legs and let us have something resembling a getaway! The park is very in tune to the Coronavirus. Essentially, it's become a non-touch park...the gift shop/front desk is closed and all the transaction was done by phone, with our papers waiting for us on arrival. We asked for a spot with a little distance from others and they easily accommodated with a lovely pull through spot with a picnic table, some grass and some nice trees to either side. Some of the long term campers were still pretty close to each other, but based on signage we saw around, they are working to clear folks out and to be open primarily for overnight guests, which will keep the crowds WAY down. Needless to say, we didn't need to use the laundry or restrooms/showers. There are restrooms& showers in the main building and there is also a freestanding facility in the middle of the resort. There is a pool and hot tub...neither looks terribly impressive, but not bad either.

The overall park was clean, and the leaves were just starting to burst out on the trees, so it made for a nice spot. Electric was in good shape. The pad was pretty level, so we had little trouble setting up. The water hookup is below ground so that was a little bit awkward. We enjoyed sitting at the metal picnic table on the bit of grass we had, and I used our new portable grill for the first time! So why not five stars? Well, I'd do 4.5 if I could. The water hookup is a slight deterrent. And as others have said, the noise from the interstate is there when you're in bed, for sure. We were in the middle of the resort, but we could hear the traffic all the time. It is NOT terrible...a bit of "white noise" perhaps...but if you think this might be difficult for you, please be prepared. Although most of Albuquerque's nicer RV parks ARE right along the interstate, so it'll be tough to avoid! We had a nice stay, and look forward to a return visit.

Nobody to Greet

The campground website said check-in was at 3 pm, so when we arrived they were closed. We had to call the emergency number to get our information and the gate code. It was very impersonal and no discount despite all facilities were closed. Beyond that the place was clean and near enough to Albequerque to run errands

Clean and very well maintained.

This evening campground was very clean and well maintained. They had a pool for guest along with a contentinal breakfast. However it was only beagles and cereal but it was included in the cost of camping.
