Lost River Valley Campground

We stayed here over the weekend and it was nice. We stayed on the mountain which had a great view, the ground was level and the hookups look new. After speaking with the new owners they informed us the had to update all the electrical, new septic, and level the sites.

This is a great family run place. On our walk our daughter found a lost “moose” who got away from the camp store. Once returned she was able to pick a prize. They also had a tinker bell walk and other activities.

We liked the mountain side so much we booked another stay.

We’ve stayed here many times over many years. Some stays have been in a tent, some in a one-room cabin. No matter which we choose, it’s been clean and comfortable! The bathrooms are always clean, the staff in the office and store has been friendly. 

The last few years, they’ve added a light display near the entrance at night, which make that last trip to the bathroom before bedtime fun!

We visit in September for the New Hampshire Highland Games and this year the campground organized a bonfire and Celtic music concert with a band that has stayed there many times before!

We’ll definitely be back next year!

This is a little Mom and pop shotty run business across the street from a pond and near a creek. A staff of mostly under 16 yr oldchildren, and a useless, argumentive individual wearing a security guard uniform, the children refer to as the boss. It’s small with terrible access, unimproved roads and Non-existent staff 

After I left … because I didn’t stay, I had to come back 3 times to get refunded, for my space payment. Which finally happened 

Then they committed CREDIT CARD FRAUD by continuing to use my card and continuing to charge it after I’d left the state. 

I had to file a claim and let visa go after them 

DO NOT STAY HERE AND NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION

This campground has a lot of potential. The sites are large, wooded, and private. We had a beautiful site on the river and enjoyed our stay while exploring the white mountains. Most sites here are W/E only and after 5 days we had to use the facilities. That was the only downside to this campground. The were pretty gross and need updating.

We had a brookside site #88 and being along the brook was beautiful, peaceful and reasonably private. Pros are definitely the setting!! Cons - a little petty with up charges $4 per night to park a second car and out on a main road quite far from our site. Bathrooms were ok, but not great - and showers were coin operated- .25 for six minutes- not a big deal but seems ridiculous to charge you a quarter and not have that covered by the nightly fee. Lastly, playground was pitiful. A bouncy house and an ancient jungle gym - no swings or slide. We would stay here again but have a more realistic view of the lack of amenities. It’s all about the view!

This is a nice campground.

Stayed in a glamping cabin and it was clean, mouse and bug free. Super comfy.

Had a great stay this summer. Fairly quiet for a large campground. Sites were very nice.

Great location, lots to do with the family, close to the caves and gorge, just a bit pricey

Pros: Everyone was super nice & friendly! Fun events planned on the weekends I absolutely love the area! Close to many attractions campsite on the river & has water & electric hook-up....

Cons: some sites (my site) rite next to a busy road (noisy) & too close together The playground is across this busy road which I find very dangerous IMO River very shallow

Loved this camp spot, would come back here again! We had a river spot with water and electric. There was a fire ring and a picnic table as well. It does fill up fast for Friday and Saturday night but we came for one night and booked it the night before for Sunday night. A lot of the campspots are cool but being by the river is so much fun. You can hear it running all night and it is so peaceful. We came mid September and I would assume that coming in the heat of the summer it would be really buggy esp by the river. It was super quiet. We could barely hear anyone and the spots were pretty separated. Would come back here again for a fall weekend!

This campground is in a fantastic location. You are close to downtown Lincoln with Cascade Park and some restaurants and the other way you have trail heads for the Appalachian Trail and many other outdoor activities.

There was one thing that was a little deceiving about the info on the website. My sister and I were hoping to go kayaking and saw on the campground website they rented kayaks. We assumed we would be able to rent them there at the campground and use them there, as we don’t have a car that can transport kayaks. When we got there they referred us to a company down the street that would rent us kayaks and help us find water. Definitely not what we saw on the website. Also, the campsite my sister and I got was considered a “primitive” spot but the only thing that was really primitive about it was that there was no water faucet and you have to cross the main road to get to the bathrooms and showers. Overall it’s a great place, the bathrooms are clean, you can cool down in the river or in there swimming area and they did a great job keeping everything COVID safe.

Stayed for a week in July & can't wait to return next summer. Sites are close to eachother but the cabins are perfect. Loved the river and playground! Staff were awesome :)

Nice campground located in the valley of mountains. Wooded sites but close to your neighbors. We had site 41 & unfortunately we were unable to use the fire pit due to being so close to our 19 foot camper. The owner, Lisa is really nice as we had some issues with visitors popping by unexpectedly but she was understanding. Beautiful campground to get away from it all.

Open to RV’s, has clean cabins, and also quiet riverfront sites towards the back. Has amenities like a small store and little playground across the street. Also a coin operated washer/dryer which was helpful when my son got car sick on the ride! Owners are very nice and accommodating. Self check is fast and easy.

You cannot go wrong. Right on kangamangus highway basically in the mountains. Recommend the sites by the river!

Decent campground with pretty good amenities (camp store, showers, actual flushing toilets). Only disappointment was that the campsites themselves are way closer together than advertised on the pictures on the website. They also have very little trees or cover in between them, which leaves them relatively open and exposed to other sites.

Overall good experience though. We really enjoyed having the river/creek right near to our site to give us some nice white noise. We would stay there again, but might look into some other campgrounds if we had the option.

This campground is very family friendly. It is surrounded on 2 sides by small rivers, the water flowing over the rocks is very relaxing. Sites aren’t too close together. Lots to do nearby.

The new owner is friendly. The location is beautiful. Limited cell service in the area. WiFi at the store only. Camp store is well supplied. Multiple shower/bathhouse/restroom buildings but the one near our site was small and not well lit. Shower stalls could to be longer to allow for dressing after shower. Shower use is $.25 for 5 or 6 minutes, which is fine because the nightly site fees are reasonable. Our site was on the river which was scenic and nice to listen to. River is rocky and shallow, not good for tubing, swimming, etc., we were also very close to the road, which was fine most nights but there was a lot of late Saturday night traffic that was noisy.

The staff was amazing and helpful. The sites were racked and free of rocks and sticks. Located off of a river, you couldn't even hear your neighbor.

We are -campground owners and get one or two opportunities to escape our campground during the summer for 1 or 2 nights. We always choose to go camping. We love the white mountains and often choose Lost River! We choose the furthest site out next to the river. It's great to be in nature, next to the flow of the river, enjoying a nap or a morning cup of coffee. Lost river is very popular but we escape during the week so things are less hectic, which we prefer. The owners are great and always open to swapping -campground owner stories. We recommend this place to all of our friends.

Cute little campground with many sites right on the river. My family has stayed here twice. You can't really swim much in the river, but the kids had a blast playing in it and fishing for little trout.

We have tent camped here a number of times. We no longer choose a site right next to the river as my husband finds the rushing water too loud! I don't, but we have found a few of the more private sites to out liking. We still play in the river though! It really is a beautiful location that is well maintained. My only complaint would be to update the bathrooms/showers (hence the 4 stars). They are adequate for your needs though.

Beautiful campground! Every site is surrounded by trees, most near a creek too. Very friendly and clean facilities. Some sites are a bit cozy, but ask about sites together if camping in a group. Can’t wait to go back!

Very nice, quiet campground. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. No cell service on the south side of campground.

This campground was absolutely perfect! Easy to get in, out, and around to the sites. Our campsite backed up to a babbling creek that was perfect to wake up to! We brought our dog, who is not the quietest dog, and everyone was friendly, and there were other dogs barking, so we felt comfortable, but not overwhelmed by noise.

We had a site right on the river which was perfect for relaxing in after hiking in the morning! Spacious sites, many of which are along the river. The folks working in the camper office were very friendly and had tips for area hikes. Bathrooms were lage and clean. We will definitely be staying here again!

This is a great place for tent and smaller camper people. Some of the site have water and electric. Some just water.... most pretty far apart. Love how nice and quiet it was.

I really enjoyed camping at Lost River over Columbus Day weekend in 2016. The campground has a mix of RV and Tent sites. We had a brook-front site, which I highly recommend, we had beautiful views during our stay. Even the lowest price tent sites all have water hook-ups. Very nice not to have to lug a bucket of water around a few times a day from a distant spigot. Showers and bathroom were clean.

The view from the door of our tent was beautiful, we got to look out over the fall foliage and the brook.

We knew were we in for a late arrival coming straight from work in Massachusetts on a holiday weekend, but we called ahead and they kindly reassured us that they were in the office until 9:30pm. Very nice and friendly folks in the office.

They also have cabins, it appeared that they were updating many of them, many were already updated during our stay. They have seasonal and "rustic" sites as well, slightly separated from the main campground.

Lots of shopping and restaurants available in nearby North Woodstock and Lincoln. If hiking and scrabbling on river rocks is your thing, the Kancamagus highway is also a short drive away, with many short hikes and swimming holes to check out.
