Many Glacier Campground — Glacier National Park

I was in site 88 which was quite lovely with the stream behind it. I fly fished there and caught some trout! It's shallow so not for swimming but nice to stick your feet in to cool off. There was plenty of room to put my 4 person tent with an awning, though the awning was slightly outside the wooden tent pad markers. There was various shade throughout the day. I did have to pack up my tent and sleep in my car as there was grizzly activity after some folks weren't thinking and left some food unattended! The game wardens WILL fine you if you leave either food and/or fires unattended. If you're solo, like I was, you really need to think ahead before you prepare food or start a fire."I had to use the restroom" won't fly with the wardens! Grizzlies don't care and that fire could start a wild fire! 

The biggest drawback was that the dumpster was right in front of my site but mostly people were extra careful not to let the spring-loaded access door slam. There's plenty of space between sites so I didn't feel like I was crammed in there. I could barely see my neighbors through the trees/bushes. I assume they'd be easy to see in spring or late fall with little vegetation. If you need to be right next to a bathroom, this isn't the site for you. It was across the road, down a path. There isn't a bear box for food storage directly ON this site but there's one nearby to share with another site. This site was in the no-generator loop, yay! Camp host, Jane, was ridiculously wonderful! She keeps a lending library outside her RV and encourages children to go out and find "exciting things" to display on her table for all passersby to view. FUN!

From this site, you can walk to the Swiftcurrent Inn/deli/store which has basic necessities, a lot of junk food(very little produce in the park at all!), sandwiches, cold drinks, gift type things and where you get the tokens for showers. For those who are flying and can't bring bear spray, they have it there in the store. The Swiftcurrent Inn is also the parking lot for many of the trailheads nearby. TIP: seek out Fishercap Lake, just about a 10-minute easy walk from the parking lot. Moose are almost always seen there in the early mornings and early evenings.

 If I get lucky enough to go back, I will absolutely try and get this campsite (and just about anywhere in the campground) again! I far preferred the east side to the west. I stayed at the Sprague Creek campground on the west side which was a totally different experience. I'll write a review for that one too.

Site 74 was absolutely the best campsite in one of the best campgrounds we've stayed in. Beautiful riverside plot with open space but still relatively private. The campground itself was well appointed with clean and well-functioning bathrooms. There was some bear activity while we were there, and the friendly and diligent Ranger team stayed on-site making us feel safe and informed. On a 2+ week adventure across the NW USA& Canada, this was definitely our best stop. Highly recommend!

Stayed here during its primitive status. For a vault toilet it was nice, but only one available for the 30 sites open. Only one for both men and women, so very busy. This had enough trees and bushes you did see anybody else.

This campground is great and with lots of walk-up campsites. There's a ton of trails right from the campground and it's close enough to St Mary and Two Medicine to make it your base to explore the East side of the park (way better than the West side IMHO). And there's public laundry right behind the camp store too! Shade varies from site to site, but overall pretty decent. You'll see wildlife wandering around too (I saw a least a couple of deer and a moose; they had a bear visit the day before I arrived). The campground hosts were super nice and helpful. Make sure you get their tips on trails!

Many glacier is an essential stop when visiting glacier, and this campground made a great home base.

This part of the park is gorgeous and we nabbed two nights last second due to a cancelation! You can walk to a river, hiking trails, a restaurant, a small store, and the ranger station. Short drive or small hike gets you to the hotel with it's nicer stores and many other trails. All the rangers and camp hosts were nice and informative. It helps to have camped with bear aware practices, but if not they will walk you through the process. There are no showers if you care about that, but when you have these views- who cares!

Great campground. Full camp store, great restaurant, decent showers. Sites a tad close together but over all great vibe. Book early.

This spot is incredibly beautiful, surrounded by picturesque mountainscapes with glaciers visible from the campsites. The campground has a spacious and friendly vibe. We enjoyed walking to Many Glacier lodge where we hopped on a boat ride to a hike through the glaciers. While all of the campgrounds we saw and stayed in while visiting the national park were beautiful, some of them did not offer the overwhelming views that this one does, giving you a true sense of place. This is not just another campground- when I go back I will definitely be staying here again, for longer.

July 13 - 16, 2019 Stunning Park. Site C144 had no electric or water but water was available in park. There were showers and flush toilets. A utility sink with hot water was available for washing dishes. There was a dump station. Verizon signal 4 bars. Sr. Lifetime discount rate was $11.50.  The free buses were a great way to see the park. Elevation 4,551 Red buses were very cramped and there was a charge also.

Spent two nights here after a long hike over Swiftcurrent pass. Our campground was clean and close to water source as well as the l bathroom. There were multiple bear boxes in close proximity.

The campground sits under the multiple peaks within the many glacier area and offers spectacular animal spotting on the multiple beautiful mountains surround the many glacier area. One of the best things about this campground is it’s proximity to many great hikes. Particularly the Swiftcurrent pass hike is something not to miss.

Many many bears around. Pretty water and mountain view’s. Near the restaurants and showers. Very nice.

Loved this campground and yes it is busy with tourist traffic on the nearby road, they park and then take off and hike but it was manageable being inside the campground. Great access to hikes like Iceberg Lake and Grinnell Glacier which are my favorites! Wildlife sightings almost everyday. Great amenities inside camp and showers, laundry, coffee & shopping just a quick walk over to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn. The campground had some great shady spots, even some spots with the river right behind. The park rangers were very nice, there are strict rules to follow because of bears frequenting the camp but the rangers were still very pleasant to deal with. I can’t wait to visit again!

Great camping spot. Easy access to many popular hiking trails, clean, and walking distance to the Swiftcurrent camp store for food and beer supplies. Lots of opportunities to view wildlife on this side of the park. Saw moose and bears within a half mile walk. A moose and calf visited the camp one evening. Sites are mostly shaded, potable water and clean bathrooms. Showers available at the Swiftcurrent lodge for about $4 for 8min shower.

Only downside if you don’t have a reserved site, need to get in line early. We got there at 4am and were not the first to get there. Reserve site if possible, otherwise plan to get there no later than 4:30am during peak season to secure a site.

This campground was very quiet and the sites had plenty of room. Bathrooms, water, trash, and recycling are spaced evenly. Sites 88-104 are located on the river & are free of generators. If you stay at a site near or with a generator, you will have a problem with noise. Lots of shade is available, which is nice. Showers and laundry are behind the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and token are available for sale in the store for shower and laundry. Showers were cleaned multiples times a day. Laundry has limited hours. One shower token gets you 8 minutes in the shower. 

Close to a lot of great hiking! There is a trail for everyone of every hiking level here, from backcountry to walking trails. The waterfalls are spectacular, and wildlife is everywhere you look. Because of the size of the park, it does not feel over-crowded.

Ranger tip: Secure a campsite early, reserve before 9 am!

When you stay at Many Glacier you are situated in the heart of the best hiking and wildlife viewing in the park. Grizzly sightings on the slopes nearby are an almost nightly occurrence. Sometimes the animals wander right through the campground. There are several trailheads that begin at the campground or within walking distance. While it is a popular and busy place (difficult to get a spot) it is still worth braving the crowds.

This location fills up very quickly, very popular but they do allow reservations. There are trail access to some of the best day hikes in the park, including a hike to one of the park's largest glacier, Primitive camping is available for $10.00 per night.

The premier campsite in GNP! Not because the campground is great but because many glacier area is the premier park of the park and this campground has you in walking distance of everything. Lots of spots, many can be reserved through the parks service, some are first come and that has become a contact sport!! You now have to get in line prior to 6 am in order to get one of the spots that will vacate later.......that day. Fire pits, water and flush toilet in campground. Store, pay for showers and restaurant very close by. Stunning views and trails very close and wildlife abounds including moose (fishercap lake) and Griz. Look at the hills sides every evening but always have bearspray all the time on any trail.

I really enjoyed camping here.

Clean and close to Swiftcurrent Inn.

We took a last minute trip to Glacier in early August. Stayed in Columbia Falls the night before we arrived, hoping to make it to the campground to snag a last minute sight. Arrived at Many Glacier about 8am. Confused about the reservation vs first come first served process. Apparently you must be waiting for a campsite at 5am to be part of the first come first served lotto. We found a spot that we thought was open, as there was nothing posted on the sight number. Unloaded and got set up just to have the ranger come around and tell us we had to leave. They happened to have a last minute cancellation in the reserved area and allowed up to drag our tent over there. She saved our whole trip!

Many Glacier is a great location. Bathrooms are clean and bright, water, bear lockers, and trash are easy to locate. We hiked,rode the boats, chatted with some great neighbors, and heard many tales of bears in the campground. We'll be back, with a bit more planning next time.

If you're coming to Glacier, make sure to camp here at least one night. It's very popular so make sure to plan ahead; we camped here in late September and every spot filled up. In the off-season, or at least when we were there, the water was turned off and only the vault toilets were available. If you're camping in that time of year, make sure to bring in your own water and firewood! Everything kind of shuts down by then. In the summer there are flush toilets and water spigots. The campground is perfectly situated for accessing some of the greatest hikes in the park. We crossed over Swiftcurrent Creek at the back of the site to begin the hike to Grinnell Glacier, one of the most scenic and stunning hikes I've ever been lucky enough to do.

Absolutely loved staying at this campground! Visited in first week of June 2018 and had the very best experience! The campground was busy at this time but we were able to get a campsite without much difficulty. Parts of the campground weren’t even open yet for the year but that was no issue. We camped near the back of the campground close to the creek. We were able to experience a moose and her calf crossing through the campground to the creek just behind our campsite. Moose definitely hang out in the area and you are most likely to see them in the morning & evening. The hike to Grinnell Glacier was my favorite part of our entire trip . It was magical with lots of trails to explore in the area. We weren’t able to go all of the way to the glacier due to snow still on the trail but it was still so great.

Great campground. Sites vary in size and have enough growth to give some privacy. Some sites run along a small creek. We were able to watch moose feeding from our site. Grounds were clean and well maintained. There is a store and restaurant close by in walking distance along with showers and laundry(you have to pay). Multille hiking trails, fishing and an abundance of wildlife. Make reservations or get there by 7am to line up, it's a popular place but well worth it. We will definate go back!

The most prestige area imaginal on the east side of Glacier National park. Wildlife galore from Grizzly bears to mountain goats and moose. Brenner trail head nearby. There is a beautiful lodge which offers boat trips on the lake for $20. Nice camp store and breakfast is available in the connecting restaurant. This a must see area. Stay a few days. Lots of campers bring high power binoculars to watch tge Grizzly bears in the mountains.

Glacier is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been! The campground in Many Glacier is quiet, rustic and clean.

We camped here for two nights in early June and even though it was technically before the season we had to get there early to get a site. While setting up camp a mommy moose and her baby walked right thru camp, the ranger said she had been hanging out all week. The mounting goats come down and roam as well. The bathrooms were exceptionally well kept as well as the grounds. all the hiking around is amazing! I recommend doing the Grinnel Glacier Trail but get up early to avoid the crowds.

This is a campground nestled in the best part of the park, but the park is crowded with people. Certainly not a quiet escape. But if you don’t mind the people and like the convenience, I certainly recommend.

This campground is super close to many hikes in the park and is at the base of Swift Current and Fishercap lakes. The scenery is beautiful and a great place to see wildlife, including grizzly, mountain goats, etc. They provide bear lockers for your food and smelly stuff.

Awesome campground! $20 a night. Typically do more primitive grounds but this one was too good to pass up. Bathrooms, firepits, and hiking trails! We saw a young grizzly driving in and there were resident moose in the area which made the stay even better (be prepared!!). They do allow dogs in the grounds, just not on the trails (NPS rules).
