Beautiful campground tucked in between 2 bluffs.

Long narrow campground in between 2 bluffs in MN driftless area. Sites are not too close but it was early in the season so there wasn't much brush to separate the sites yet. Beaver Creek runs right alongside the campsites and can be heard. There is a nice grassy easy hiking trail along the creek (Big Spring Trail). The Hole-in-the-Rock trail is steep and rocky but has beautiful views and rock formations.

There is no cell phone service.

Hidden Gem

Really enjoyed this park. This one seems to fly a little under the radar as we were able to book 2 sites next to each other for the weekend only a few days prior to our stay. Site 39 was honestly massive and secluded so we didn’t even end up using our other site. 39 fit a 4 person and 6 person tent with more space to potentially put another 4 person and still have breathing room. Campground has a long and narrow layout with the one shower/non-primitive bathroom at the very front of the park. We stayed in site 39 and 40 which is at the very far end of the campground so we had to hop in the car to shower as it was over a half mile trek. Definitely do some research before booking because I did notice some extremely small sites that had zero privacy. Hiking trails were great with a variety of terrain options. The Hole-in-rock trail had some seriously technical potions but was very fun to climb.

Very nice, but small park

This hidden gem is a great small park and campground perfect for a weekend getaway. The electric sites are on the smaller side (our site, #7, required us to park our truck lengthwise in front of our 29’ trailer) but are fairly secluded from each other. The bathroom/shower building was strange - vault toilets on one side with the showers on the other. Not sure how the women’s was, but hubby said one of the men’s had no hot water, and the other was almost scalding hot. A bit of a tight turn to get to the dump station. Good trails throughout the park, most with climbs up to the tops of the ridge. No phone service at all throughout the park. Need to come back when the fall colors are at their peak!

Nice park in the driftless

Good trout fishing here, some sites are primitive, some have electric and water. World class trout fishing!

My favorite hidden valley forest!

Took a chance booking online on 4th of July weekend at a place we’d never even heard of and boy was it a great decision! We strongly value our privacy so we chose a cart in site all the way in the back (second to last as 48 was booked) even with campers on either side of us, we had plenty of coverage from the wooded area between the sites!! Great hiking for beginners and experts alike with some gorgeous views! We will definitely be coming back!

Nice Boondocking Site

Site 25 is fairly level, we were just 1.5 inches off on one side. There was plenty of space for us (23 foot trailer and Silverado) and since the site is on a loop most vehicles didn't pass directly in front. Water, garbage and recycling (separated) were all close by. There as no cell signal, so we went to town for that. The park has nice trails that are pretty well marked. They're very up front about rattlesnakes living in the park, we didn't see once and reportedly they are seldom encountered. The road is narrow and gravel and none of the rv and trailer sites are very deep. The bathrooms have pit toilets and nice shower rooms but I didn't get hot water so I headed back to the camper where I knew I would (maybe 2 pushes weren't enough, I'm not very patient).

The campgrounds was mostly quiet except for the hum of a generator. We had plenty of sun to charge the Jackery.

Quiet campground

Cramped site, limited trails

Site #30 was very long and narrow with a good jaunt to get to the restroom facilities. We had to line up our campsite like a line of trains - truck, picnic table, tent - as the site was basically just the shoulder of the road. Be warned that in order to get to sites #27 through #37 you have to drive through some water. In September it was only about 8". There is a natural spring here that was neat to see but the park seemed somewhat lacking. 4 stars though cuz camping anywhere is better than not camping.

Peaceful Weekend Getaway

Overall a very nice and quiet park. Sites in the tent portion vary greatly in size and privacy. We stayed in site 30 which was very small, not enough room to pull a car into the site. It was also VERY close to several other sites. If you are looking for more privacy, I would suggest a site like 34. Absolutely no cell service, which can be nice as long as you’re expecting it. Did a short hike with my wife and two dogs and spent some time during golden hour at Big Spring, which was gorgeous. Bathrooms available, though we only used the vault toilet close to our site.

A lot of electric sites. Tent sites further back in the campground through multiple water crossings (ok for cars). Campsites beautiful wooded sites in the bluffs. Definitely a campground to see!

Great spot for beginning trout fishers

Small quiet campground with sites that back up to the creek. Very easy walking trail winding through the park and stream. An easy way to trout fish and enjoy the park.

Fall asleep to the creek

Beaver Creek Valley is a great getaway to escape from the city. Located not too far from Caledonia, the small town has many camping essentials to offer if you forget anything. Camp ground was clean and has great showers!

Tiny Campsites

The campsites are the smallest I’ve ever seen, everyone coming in remarked on how small they are. No privacy, the sites are very close together. We went the end of August during the week so thankfully there weren’t many people there. Firewood is cut up pallets for $6 a bundle. A couple of the hiking trails are really nice and the creek is absolutely beautiful.

Hike in Site - totally worth it!

Camped at the furthest out hike-in (this may have been a cart-in but we hiked it in - can't recall). Nice site on a small quite creek. Good space between you and the next campsite so you felt privacy.

Beautiful Campground and Park, Elusive Fish

This is a true gem of a state park! The river that runs through is beautiful, cold, and clear. I didn't have any luck fishing though I could see the trout hanging out in an easily accessible pool at the end of a run. The campsite is sprawling and most of the sites are isolated from each other. There are fun free activities for kids to check out from the park office and a playground. There is no cell service at this park (TMobile).

Hidden Gem - Quiet and Peaceful

Loved camping at this campground! The sites were spread out enough that it really felt like I was at a dispersed spot at times. The sound of the creek was so peaceful and the hiking trails behind the sites up the bluff were great! The rangers warned about rattlesnakes being a high risk when I was there due to the full sun and heat but I didn’t see any. No cell service at all. Would recommend this place!

Great little State Park.

We've camped at Beaver Creek quite a few times. some sites are bigger than others, but they're all grassy and private which is nice. The park has a lot of very well maintained trails. The only thing to know is there is no cell reception because of the valley. This great if you want to get away from it all, but if you're staying a while and need to work, this isn't the place to do it.

Disappointed with camping but hiking was great!

I was disappointed with camping here. We stayed in a tent site, W##. We felt lucky with this because the W sites were more secluded and you didn't feel like you were on top of your camping neighbors. The bathrooms and showers here were very gross though. The hiking here had great views but trails were not labeled well. The Big Spring was also a great natural water feature to relax in after a hot hike!
