Brevoort Lake Campground

About

National Forest

Hiawatha National Forest

Overview

Brevoort Lake Campground stretches along the western shore of its namesake in the Hiawatha National Forest. This popular fishing destination is situated on a peninsula that juts into the lake and Beodne Bay. Visitors to the campground enjoy the easy access to the pristine sandy beaches.

Recreation

The 4,233-acre Brevoort Lake provides ample opportunities for recreation. Boat access is available from the center of the campground on Boedne Bay. In 1985, the Forest Service completed the construction of a walleye spawning reef in Brevoort Lake, providing plentiful fishing in the area. Anglers can also expect healthy populations of pike, bass, perch and a variety of other fish. Hiking is also a popular pastime of visitors to the campground. The Ridge, Sand Dunes Cross Country and North Country National Scenic trails pass near the campground. A 10-minute ferry ride to Mackinac Island makes for an interesting day trip. The 3.8-acre island offers hiking, biking, horseback riding and shopping, as well as access to historical sites and museums, among other activities.

Facilities

The campground offers dozens of reservable single-family campsites for tent and RV camping. Additional sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills, and accessible flush toilets, drinking water are provided. A dump station is also available for a $10.00 per use fee.

Natural Features

Campsites are somewhat secluded, surrounded by huge pine, hemlock and oak trees and low, shrubby vegetation. Beach grass grows along the lake shore, sometimes buried in light sand.

Beautiful campground

Well spaced, clean sites. Stayed one night enroute but would like to stay longer. Pick a side for sunrise or sunset. Lots of trees so solar could be an issue unless it's a portable panel. No water or electricity but has clean restrooms, water and dump available.

Clean, Quiet Campground

We choose this campground for its close-ish proximity to St. Ignace and the Labor Day Bridge Walk. There are modern toilets, and even though the facilities are very dated they are possibly the cleanest I've ever come across at a campground. There are kayak, SUP and Canoe rentals on site, as well as ice and wood for sale. There is potable water and a dump station. (The water is far enough from the dump to feel safe enough to fill our tanks.). Very quiet after 10pm, the quiet hours seemed very enforced, there was not a single generator going overnight. A nice mix of FCFS sites and reservable ones, and there were at least some vacancies even though it was a holiday weekend.

Brevort lake campground

One of our favorites. Many sites right on the lake. Clean restrooms, attended often. Camp host was supposed to fire wood but the 3 times we inquired , they were out. Nice large sites. Had issue about having more than one vehicle. Daughter pull fishing boat other daughter met up with us but she could not leave her vehicle there. Had to park at the local convince store. No other parking space available.

noisy campground

This is a noisy campground with generators running all of the time, and some camps playing loud music that the entire campground can hear.  The camp hosts/scooter police failed miserably in monitoring the noise level of some camps.  If you are looking for peace and quiet, this campground is not for you.  We don't plan to return in the future.

Quick visit

Made a quick overnight stop while road tripping with beautiful wife. Very nice lakeside campsites. Little on the pricey side for me. Edging a little bit towards the style of the Michigan state parks, which isn't my scene. None the less, sites were nice and facilities were clean.

Clean, fun and GORGEOUS!

Make a reservation well in advance. Bathroom facilities were beautifully clean, fun yard games to borrow, kayaks to rent. Decent sized sites- some directly on the lake with access and beach. Use the map to pick the best one! Picnic table and fire pit. Easy to find. Highly rec. Wood and ice available at host site.

Really Nice Lakeside Campground

This is a very nice, very well maintained USFS campground with options for everyone. I have to admit this isn’t my style of campground, I prefer a much more rustic camp, but this is a very nice campground if you have small children or just can’t live without some of the features that are offered. My wife and I both agreed that it would be a very nice place to bring our grandkids.

The lake here is huge and access is available in camp.

Quick visit, but would return

I stopped here for one night on a road trip so I didn’t get much chance to explore but from what I saw, it was a nice campground. I stayed on a Sunday night and the campground was full but not noisy. Bathrooms were clean.

There are 2 loops

The loop up the peninsula has spacious sites but have a feeling of close neighbors. The first loop on the left is more spread out and seems more private.

Clean Fun Campsite

Pros: This camp site was amazing! Very family friendly with plenty of activities. You are able to rent water equipment, play mini golf and swim around the lake. You are able to buy bagged ice ($2.50) and firewood about 6-7 pieces ($5.00) on site.

Plus, Our 3 dogs came with and had a great time!

Cons: Quiet hours were well followed. I felt we had to whisper around the fire, to feel like we weren’t disturbing anyone. It was very family based so got pretty quiet around 8:00 PM. Also, Campsites are pretty close together!

Altogether the camp site is great, I wouldn’t go again but enjoyed it!

One of our favorites!

Despite the fact that there are not electric sites, this remains one of our favorite stops. There are water and clean bathrooms. No showers. The lake is beautiful, good for swimming and fishing. The town of Escanaba is nearby with good restaurants and Lake walks. Be sure to take yard guard, some mosquitos and black flies. Nice visitor center at Hiawatha National Forest entry. Hiking trails.

Beautiful spot

This campground was one of my favorites. The site was a little less secluded than I would prefer - there were other families and individuals around but everyone was perfectly friendly and we had everything we needed - including a fire pit and water pump

Rustic and secluded!

This campground is pretty rustic and secluded from other people. If what you're looking for is privacy, you get it here! The sites are very private and very wooded. I would recommend this campground and would come back.
