About
The Forestville Campground is located just north of the chalet at the Noquemanon Trail Network's Forestville Trailhead. There are 15 rustic sites tucked closely around a narrow circular drive with firepits and picnic tables at all sites. Sites are best for tents, van style campers, or very small pop up trailers. Sites may not have level ground and due to the narrow road it is very challenging to park rvs or larger camping trailers. All sites are located within close proximity while perimeter sites provide a bit of separation. Vault toilets are located in front of the pole building and water is available on the west side of the chalet. There are no electrical hookups or shower facilities on site. Campground fees start at $25/night. Your camping fees help maintain the non-profit facility and trails. Campground is generally open May- October.
A few things to know: All sites must be booked and paid for online through campground reservation site. When you arrive, you will fill out a Site Card available at the entrance kiosk with your reservation info and then post at your reserved campsite. Sites are numbered 1-15. Locate sites by following road in to the right of the campground kiosk. There are 15 numbered sites to the rear of pole building. Limit of 2 units per site (2 tents or 1 tent, 1 van, etc.) and 6 persons per site. Maximum continuous stay is 7 days. Please consider 1 tent per site to allow extra distancing. Fires are limited to metal fire rings only, please do not move metal rings or construct rock rings. Firewood can be purchased for$7/bundle on honor system but there is no guarantee of availability (We recommend picking up a bundle of wood in town if you are planning to have a fire). Place firewood payment in mailbox at wood shed. Fully extinguish all fires upon departure. Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. Check out by 1pm. Dogs must be kept on leash (it's Michigan Law) and please clean-up with“Dog Spot” bags available on site. Potable water is available at spigot on west side of pole building. All trails are non-motorized. If you are here to enjoy the trails, please support the trails with a suggested $10/day donation or annual membership. An attendant stops in daily to check on campground and there is now a volunteer Campground Host that will be living on site that is available to assist at random hours. Great mountain biking
Overall fantastic
Trailhead bathrooms open year round
We camped here in a van in December and we’re able to access the pit toilets. They were very clean. We had the whole place to ourselves.
Note that Campground closes in October but bathrooms are open because it is a Nordic ski trailhead.
Clean and quiet
Sites are small for larger vehicles. Fire pits and picnic tables at all sites. MTB trails everywhere. Potable water until freeze
Tucked away rustic gem
Close to Marquette but feels secluded At the head of some great mountain biking trails and backcountry rock climbing or bouldering. Also just great hiking, our site backed up to the NCT. Sites are heavily wooded, it would be difficult to navigate a camper here, but it's great for tents! Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Bathrooms are fine, basic pit toilets. Potable water on the side of the barn plus firewood for a price. Peaceful and pretty
Best campground in Marquette
This is by far the best campground in Marquette. Rustic sites only, this is the trail head to a network of snowshoeing, biking, and hiking trails. There are 19 sites, three of which line the field the other 16 are tucked in the woods. The campsites are first come first served and have a self registered system. $15 a night + $5 for firewood. Although they don’t always have firewood available because the grounds are taken care of by volunteers. There’s a massive bike race held every summer and this is where the cyclists stay, so it gets pretty packed pretty quickly.

Bad vibe, didn't stay
It was super crowded when we got there... All sites are practically on top of each other with little privacy. You can't build a fire without a fire ring but not all sites have them. We tried to build our own with rocks around and a woman watching us, camping across from us, came up to tell us that wasn't allowed and we couldn't have a fire at our site (the only available one). Site itself hardly fit one tent on a slightly uneven ground. We took a chance and found another amazing, much more welcoming and comfortable spot, 20 mins down the road (see other reviews). This surprised us bc it had such good reviews on maps.
My Go-To campground in Marquette.
Part of the Noquemanon Trail Network for mountain biking.
First come, first serve and only rustic sites.
Some sites don’t have fire pits and are kind of a tight squeeze with precarious tree placement.
Not all sites are like this. Just get there early so you have better selection. There are only a few sites I don’t recommend.
Firewood available.
Sites can be paid for in cash or at https://noquetrails.org/forestville/
Only an outhouse and no running water or showers. But, you should have close to full cell service.
I primarily stay on weekdays and don’t have an issue finding a site. However, weekends can get busy with all the out of town mountain bikers.
This campground is well placed for hiking as well. Sugarloaf Mountain and Hogsback are only a short drive away.
There are also numerous waterfalls within an hours drive of this place. Some easier to get to the others.
Away from the hustle and bustle
Nice rustic camping. No types of hookups for anything, and large RVs will not be able to access these sites! Only a one lane path with tight turns. The largest vehicle I saw during my few days here was a pickup truck with a bed-mounted camping unit. Sites aren’t very private, and are somewhat cramped, but I’ve certainly seen worse. Outhouses are clean. The coordinates are a little off on the map, but they will get you in the immediate vicinity which makes it easy to figure out where the campground is. LOTS of trails! Unfortunately, while the pole mounted lights are good for security, they are extremely bright. I didn’t notice the one near my site when I set up camp, and it blasted directly into my face at night. Not all sites have fire rings, so don’t start fires at a site without one!
Super awesome rustic spot!
Forestville was pretty great. We arrived in Marquette at around 8pm on a Thursday and needed a place to stay. Every other campground in the city were full but we found this one on google. We couldn’t find an address (46.5822020,-87.4770072 ) so we called the number and the operator (I didn’t get his name) was really helpful and stayed on the phone with us until we were almost there, giving us turn by turn directions. It can be a bit hard to find. There are 20 sites and all are first come first serve. There’s no one on site to tell you if anything is available so you just have to go look. On Thursday night there were 5 spots for us to choose from. Saturday night was the only night that I knew people were showing up and not getting spaces. There are a couple fire rings and a couple picnic tables dispersed throughout all the campsites that you can be lucky enough to have one at your site when you get there or steal them when people leave their site. Pit toilets and 1 water spigot. We would stay there again.
