Price gouging for non residents

If you are a MA resident, this park is okay. If you are out of state, you definitely don’t get what you pay for. The upcharge is ridiculous.

MA is an expensive place to camp and there are too many other nearby states much more accommodating to see, so we only stayed one night.

Populated Campground with Some Nice Features

I prefer other parts of MA. This is a nice campground with mostly very large sites. A lot of sites lack privacy. I was on A20 which didn’t have any and was in partial sun. Also a lot of earthworm excrement all over ground. Kind of mucky. A Loop has no privacy above #15. B Loop is private on almost every site in the even #s, and also some odd #s.

Loops C&D (no elec or water) have many private spots and are more richly wooded. Loop C was empty. I loved site D82 in which you drive up and sit over a stream. Pine trees are tall there. Also D79 (private & had a beautiful view of a walking green and the beach). The spots around those 2 didn’t really have privacy. Most lower # sites in Loop D did.

The campers’ beach front is pretty and many campers walk their leashed dogs here. Beautiful bathrooms in all Loops but no parking at them except HP. Lots of trails including bike trails. Overall a pretty campground.

Sites have metal fire rings (I prefer more open fire pits).

Check-in staff is extremely kind.

Hidden gem!

This was our first trip in our new camper. I love was extremely happy with this park. We stayed on the A loop with w/e hookup. Our site 8 was spacious with a tent site, 7, perfect for camping in a small group. Our family stayed on site 9 that was very private and we loved how woodsy it was there! The bath houses were clean and a short walk from our site. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was for the lack of sewer hookup, but considering we only stayed for the weekend it was perfectly fine without it.

It was okay. Beach sucks, bathrooms are nice, not many water spigots.

The sites are close some have vegetation between but then there's isn't any trees to hang tent from. When it rained we had a little flooding in middle of site under gazebo tent rug. There is some beautiful views but when it comes to fishing it looks like you can fish from a lot of places on the ponds, but you end up catching trees, lily pad weeds or being crowded by families of fishermen. The bathroom's are nice clean but not many in campground 2 toilets 2 shower stalls regular and handicap as well as a family bathroom with shower and toilet. There is a dish washing station at bathroom. There is a airport right beside the forest and a train comes through at night somewhere. It as full of mosquitoes bring bug spray and thermacell ( it works good).

Easy access to hiking trails

Located in a large state park, Massasoit have easy hiking trails that are filled with a variety of migratory birds. The campground sites and facilities were well kept. Fire rings and fire grills in each site. Rangers patrolled through the sites frequently and were friendly.

We stayed here back in 2019 and had a nice experience. I'd totally recommend for family outdoors fun.

Small and lovely

Massasoit State Park just reopened for camping in 2018 after years of being closed.

There are rustic sites, and standard electric sites. There is no sewer hookup at Massasoit. The dumping station is also closed for the 2020 season.

The rangers are friendly, and conscientious. They do a great job of maintaining quiet hours while still being kind and friendly.

The sites are clean and large. The beach is well maintained. No flotation devices are allowed, and the rangers do keep people accountable to this.

The pond is wonderful for kayaking. There is a great playground for the kids.

Was excited, not very impressed, left early (never done before)

This review was for last year (July 2019)  I ended up renting 3 sites with family.  VERY VERY nicely redone camp.  Looks amazing.  Although the swimming area (which was just opened the week prior) looked okay if you can picture a beach area (nice) but seems like it was a regular pond where they just dumped sand? So as you walk roots and debris are still under the very shallow sand.  So we only went out about waist deep.  The facilities were very nice but the staff was VERY overbearing and a bit rude.  Parking is a huge issue with them as well.  We had three sites all next to each other, (so we could have 6 cars) we only had three but while setting up we have three cars on one site (during setup)  they came by and threatened to fine us.  I told them we had all three sites and they would be moved, they really didn't care. (a bit of an ego situation)  Overall we left early because of the swimming situation and the staff.  I've never written such a negative report before... too bad, has the potential to be a great spot.

Great Local Campground

Great campsite. I used to come here all the time when I was a kid and was so excited when it opened back up. We were located in the no electric no water area and even though every site was taken, it was surprisingly more private than you'd expect. The comfort stations (indoor bathroom and shower and outdoor sink area) were clean and well maintained and close to all the sites. The sites had both a firepit with a flip grill as well as an upright grill. Both were clean and ready to use when we arrived.  The boys had a blast swimming and kayaking at the pond and there was another comfort station right at the water. Leashed pets are welcome and we brought our pup for his first camping experience and he loved it too.

Best biking trails around!

Campground is not currently open, but should be again by summer of 2018! In the meantime, perfect place for running, walking, hiking, biking, fishing, and exploring! Beautiful, silent, and shows the power nature has. Playground just installed!

Under construction as of April 2018. Nice enough. Decent flowy riding in here on the mountain bike.

Bring Bee Spray

So I stayed here last year with a large group we had 3 sites, and omg the bees were horrible, Im not sure what was going on, we finally ended up having to buy a screen house, they were that bad, we spoke to other campers and they complained the same.

The beach house was clean and close bye so that was a plus with the amount of kids that we had with us.

It was a little confusing to find our site as there were so many different names, and then we had to find our name and site.

Other than the bees, it was peaceful, and nobody bothered you. i would recommend lots of bee spray and a screen house, but hopefully it was an isolation situation. Planning another trip for next year but will request different location. And cell phone service was horrible
