Directions

To reach Mount Blue State Park in Weld, follow Route 156 from Wilton or Route 142 from Dixfield or Phillips. To reach the Mount Blue trailhead and Center Hill Picnic area, follow the Center Road from Weld Village. To reach the Webb Beach and Campground, proceed 2 miles north past Weld Village and bear left on the West Road at Webb Corner. Continue 4 miles to Webb Beach Road, which leads down to the lake and campground.

Annual Stay

Last year we were looking for a place to take my daughter on a birthday trip, but had limited options. Mt Blue was one of few places that had sites available so it was by chance we ended up there. It was quiet, beautiful, and a memorable experience all around. Fast forward a year exactly, and we decided to go back for my daughter’s birthday trip again. Without disappointment, this campground has won us over all over again. We had a blast at the beach area, and enjoyed the solitude, truly away from it all. We feel rested and relaxed. Needless to say, this campground is definitely on our list for future trips every year from here on out.

Very quiet campground with private sites

We took our camper and camped with another family who had just tents. Our camp sites were next to each other but also very private. No water or electricity except at the main bathrooms where there are showers, toilets and a dish wash station. Beautiful lake! We had to walk a few mins from our site to get to the lake. Overall very peaceful!

Beautiful state park with lakefront group site

Mount Blue is an awesome Maine State Park about 2 hrs. north-west of Portland, 1hr from the White Mts. in NH and 1.5 hours from the Quebec border.

Chock full of activities from lakefront lounging, swimming, dark sky stargazing, fishing, biking, hiking, paddling and boating all from your campsite or nearby within the park.

Our group had the South Shelter group camping area, lakefront with small beachfront where you can have a decent sized bonfire and keep kayaks, SUPs, etc.

View is amazing, looking out across lake to Mount Blue and Tumbledown. Took the quick but steep hike up to the fire tower at Mount Blue's summit, about 3.5 miles RT.

Also really liked:

new and clean showers (individual shower rooms with hot water, are free!)

trails that link all campsites to the lake

super friendly staff

log cabin shelter at lake with a huge stone fireplace - didn't use it but this would be great for a group dinner

group site was spacious and slopes up from lake with plenty of shaded tent areas - we had about 8 tents and didn't feel crowded in the least

group site also has a spacious shelter and fire pit area at the top of the slope, with 4 picnic tables - cool for the showers we experienced when several people could fit inside under the roof, play games and wait out the storms.

Of note:

The shower house is located a good ways off from the group sites, over in the tent and RV/trailer site area. Some of us walked ands others biked or drove over.

At the group site there is a decent outhouse but no running water - so plan for that.

Showers were diagonal from site 9 in the camping area.

Def. check this beautiful state park out, and you can support Maine State Parks by purchasing an annual pass for around $105.

Great

I’d give 5 stars but only 4 since the sites are nice but not much privacy. Facilities are clean. The sites are a short walk/drive down to the lake and it is beautiful there. I would hear loons in the early mornings and go down to watch the sunrise. It was packed when I was there but overall quiet and peaceful. Stayed here while hiking Mount Blue and Tumbledown. This is a great campground close to the lake and mountains. Would totally stay again.

Peaceful

I camped here two nights with my family. It was the first camping trip we took with my 2 year old, and so was very nervous about how it would go. I was very relieved to be surrounded by families with small children. Despite that, it was very quiet! It was an amazing camping trip. The park was well kept. We had an amazing time, and we plan on coming back.

Mt blue

Needs some updating. Overall quiet even when it was full. Outhouses could use some attention. The rest is very good. Scenic great staff.

Gorgeous, Well Maintained, Close to MANY Amazing Hikes

These camp grounds are excellent. Grounds were fairly unpopulated so we had first pick and no neighbors! But I could see the sites being less private if it were a busy weekend. Walking trails through and around the grounds featuring a Nature Center, amphitheater, boat launch, and swimming beach on Lake Webb. I really enjoyed swimming, the water was clear and the beach was decently shallow. Canoe & boat rentals available too. Many primitive ground toilets that are kept very clean as well as a facility with hot showers and flushing toilets (but in my family we call that cheating). Potable water & camp dish washing stations sprinkled throughout also. Super close to many incredible day hikes such as, Tumbledown & Mt. Blue. We checked in for 3 nights and ended up staying for 5 because we were enjoying it so much! All of the sites are heavily wooded and occupied by the most amazing spectrum of songbirds, woodpeckers, and owls. Every site also provides a picnic table & a great stone-backed fire ring with a grill gate. Great design makes it so your fire light doesn't disturb your neighbors. I can't wait to return!

One of the states best

A really great state run campground. Has all the basics and well spaced campsites. Tumbledown mountain is close by and a must to hike up. Also fun place nearby to pan for gold flakes.

Nice campground!

This is a huge campground with very nice wooded spots! We stayed on a Friday night and there weren’t many people. The bathrooms and showers are nice as well. The campground has a trail to the beach of the lake! Many trails are available in the park too.

Tumbledown!!

Great park! Nice sites. Great Lake!can rent canoes and kayaks. Great swimming. Beach to rest and picnic. Clean bathrooms. Kids movie in outside amphitheater. Junior ranger program. The hike up to the lake is amazing!!

Mt. Blue State Park ROCKS!

Large, private sites with no hook ups. Campground is on Webb Lake, which is a great lake for boating, swimming, and other water activities. There is also an easy to access and use boat launch.

Bathrooms and separate showers are clean and well maintained, with outhouses located in strategic places for easy access.

Rangers run some great programs for kids and adults. There is a playground and recreational area with plenty of large, open spaces to run the dogs.

There are tons of great places to explore with awesome hikes up Mt. Blue and Tumbledown Mt. to name the most popular. Visitors really should take the dirt road across to Coos Canyon, which has been carved out by the Swift River.

More Convience than Privacy, but quiet

The kids LOVED this campground. lots of streams for frogs and adventure. not to mention Next to one of the prettiest mountains in Maine, Tumbledown! the showers and bathrooms were really nice for a campground. the lots not super private but spacious.

Relax at the lake after hiking all day!

Amazing location at the foot of mountains right on Webb Lake. Sites are in the woods but the public beach and picnic area is expansive. Literally 5 minutes down the road to the turnout for Tumbledown and Little Jackson Mountains. Short drive to Weld and the rest of Mt. Blue State Park hiking and blueberry picking. Standard Maine state park with good bathrooms and showers, clean, safe sites, friendly, happy staff and lots of fun little trails. Can get noisy on the weekends in the summer.

Peaceful Maine Escape

This is a very nice area and great campground to escape the hustle and bustle of the crowded Eastern Seaboard. Fresh air, campfires, nice hiking for day hikes and an area of Maine that still has a nostalgic feel is all park of the package. The lake is beautiful too.

design downside

to th liti have visited twice once was at a group site on the shore of web lake. this was a great experience. the sites are large with a lean to and a small beach for swimming, fishing. the views are amazing. the second trip i stayed at a regular site in the campground. you have to hike or drive downe water. this was a downside to me. i had a boat to haul back and forth. i would be much nicer to have a site on the water that i could leave my boat in the water next to. otherwise the campground is clean, well maintained and quiet.

Away From It All

Driving the back roads of Maine you will run into Mt. Blue. There are two different areas, the campground is on the lake and the hiking around Mt. Blue is about 20 minutes away. The campground is very large with varying size campsites and plenty to choose from. The beach area is a short walk by trail from any of the three loops and includes a large grass area, a playground and a beach on the lake. You can also rent kayaks for a nice ride around the peaceful lake. The shower facility, located in the middle loop are very nice and clean. The camp hosts, Bruce and Jackie are very friendly and love to share their stories of traveling with their tear drop trailer and Chris and his wife will check you in and make sure you have everything you need. The campground closes for the season on Columbus Day and after Labor day, it's pretty empty.
