Pretty good

Small campground but suprisingly quiet tent spot even though they are close and wooded. The shower rooms were a little weird, not the cleanest but much appreciated hot shower. The separate toilet stalls were pretty clean. Bring your shower shoes. Nice staff.

Nice spot for families. Neat stuff to do. Friendly staff. Only negative was lack of enough sewer necessitating a $12 pump out. But at least it is available. WiFi is sketchy with low signal and frequent drops.

Great camp for family and fun!

First off the camp ground is tucked away where you don’t hear road noise. The free bus stops here so you can have a car free park experience. Also 1/4 of a mile leads you to a picturesque harbor with amazing sunsets.

Variety of spaces. Ours was kind of close to neighbors, but there were a few small trees in between.

Staff could not have been nicer.

Great base camp to explore from.

I recommend Lulus Lobster Tour and eating at the Colonels in Northeast Harbor

Easy Access Campground

Campground has been in business for 50 years we were told. Good signage off the road, easy to find. Spaces are close together. Some have only water and electric, others have sewer. Honey truck service and a dump station also available. Laundry was higher than any other campground we’ve stayed at, 4.00 per washer. Bring your quarters to the bath house also, showers are pay per use. Check in was efficient, the woman who checked us in was friendly and so were the other ladies in the office. That friendliness stopped with male camp employee, he was curt and quick to remind you of rules when you aren’t even thinking of breaking any! If you asked a question during his orientation speech, he was quick to cut you off and answer in a way that did nothing to make you feel welcome. We overheard him speak to all our neighbors in the same lecturing tone, like a parent to a tiresome child. The impression they give off, with being in business for over 50 years makes them value their guests less. We will be staying at one of the many other campgrounds during our next visit to Bar Harbor.

Great Basecamp for Acadia NP and Bar Harbor!

I was a little last minute when it came to planning my trip to Acadia. So I wasn't able to grab a campsite in the park.

But Hadley's was an excellent basecamp site and was just up the road from an epic sunset spot on the island.

I was even able to put my kayak in there for a little paddle around South Twinnie Island.

The staff at the park gave me some great recommendations during my time there and I was able to take advantage of coin-operated showers and laundry.

They have a pool, but it was a little crowded for my liking.

WiFi did reach to my tent sites, but wasn't super fast or reliable back there.

Seemed to be best up by the office and laundry room!

First time to ANP

Camp staff was great. Campsites were nice. I was in a pop up tent in my Tacoma truck. The bus system is great, with a regular bus right in the campground. Much easier to see Acadia with the bus system, instead of fighting traffic and parking. Restrooms and showers were ok. Would recommend

Pet and family friendly campground BUT crowded and crawling with ticks

Hadley's Point is a private campground just outside Acadia National Park. This campground prides itself on being family-friendly and welcoming to pets.

Children are allowed to bike throughout the campground until dusk. While we stayed, there was a campground-wide Fourth of July bike parade. The kids loved it.

Pets are welcome but cannot be abandoned in the motorhome when you leave. Plan to take your pet with you everywhere.

Hadley's Point offers laundry facilities, showers, a heated pool, cornhole, and shuffleboard. While the pool is heated, it is not hot -- or even very warm. But this is Maine we are talking about, and I'm sure that the water was warmer than it would otherwise have been.

The campground is primarily designed to accommodate RVs and motorhomes. The large fields and open lots for RVs provide ample parking and the campground offered electricity as well as other hookups.

Cute cabins offer cozy sleeping (but no running water) for visitors without tents or RVs.

We brought our tent and felt a little like second-class citizens at this RV-focused campground. The tent sites were tiny. Our large van, tent, and screened-in pavilion covered the entire site, leaving very little walking space. Our site also lacked trees for shade and hammocks.

Worse yet, the campground has an infestation of Black-Legged Deer Ticks -- the ticks responsible for Lyme disease. We found two on our son during our stay. I hope they treat for these ticks soon because it poses a huge risk to their campers.

There is a lot of potential for this campground but they need to spray the grounds for ticks and create more comfortable sites. They could be awesome if they shifted their focus from trying to fit as many people as possible to creating a comfortable camping experience for all.

Pros:

- Heated pool

- Bathrooms cleaned regularly

- Laundry

- Good price

- Good location

- Playground

- Kid and pet friendly

- Island Explorer Bus stops at the campground

Cons:

- Cramped sites

- Ticks

- Crowded

Variety of Campsites, Friendly, Clean, Convenient

This was our first experience camping in our RV.   We selected Hadley's Point because of its location, easy to get to town, as well as the spot on the campground in which we could stay.

The staff were very friendly, the site was clean and well-kept.   Our friends who had a smaller camper (thanks to the accomodating staff) were able to stay in a spot directly behind us which was great.

We had all of the hookups needed, a nice picnic table and it was easy to get in and out with our 36' RV.

Ranger Review: Morsel Spork at Hadley’s Point Campground

**Campground Review: **

Hadley’s Point Campground is located on the north side of Mt Desert Island and just a short distance from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Hadley’s Point is a large private campground that has tent, water& electric RV, and full hook up sites, as well as Cabins. The campground is broke up in to multiple loops (campground map can be found in my pictures) with some loops in open areas with little shade and sites close together, and other loops have more wooded sites that have some shade and privacy. All style sites include a picnic table and fire ring.

Reservations are site type, not site specific, so a little bit of a gamble. We were assigned site B27 on this visit. This site was partially shade depending on the time of day and very close to our neighbors. Other sites in the B loop did have more trees and more private, but they were full on this stay. Check-in was easy and the staff was very helpful in providing info and answering questions about the area. A host guides you to your site and assist you in positioning if needed.

The bathroom on B-loop does not have showers so we had to hike to other loops to shower. The Bathrooms and showers were very clean. The showers are metered and cost $0.50 per 7 minutes, so don’t forget your quarters!

Firewood and limited supplies were available at the office. There is a full grocery store about 10 minutes away.

We found good cell phone service with Verizon throughout the property. The campground did not have wi-fi.

The campground also has a heated pool, playground, and laundry.

With Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park close by, there is so much to do and see in the area. One of the best benefits of the area is that there is a free shuttle with multiple routes around the island, so you can leave the car and parking hassles behind and just shuttle everywhere. The Shuttle has a stop right on the campground and is dog friendly (on leash and if your dog is friendly).

Speaking of dog friendly, I’ve never been to an area that is so dog friendly. The campground staff was very forthcoming with dog friendly info and I have to mention Bark Harbor in downtown Bar Harbor. Bark Harbor is a pet store that bakes their own treats, has toys and gifts, and tons of info on dog friendly areas on the island. They have pre-printed lists of dog friendly hotels, restaurants, on and off leash hiking trails, and dog parks. Super friendly crew that keyed us into an off leash hiking area that our dogs loved!

Pro Tip: A short ¼ mile walk from the campground is an off leash dog friendly beach that you can also launch your kayak or canoe from or have a sunset beach campfire. We really enjoys this beach after a long day of hiking all around the national park.

With all the outdoor activities of the national park, kayak and boat cruises in the ocean, lobster, lobster, lobster, you’ll need a full week to explore this island. Hadley’s Point made it a perfect place for us to take it all in.

**Product Review: **

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get to test products. At this campground, I tested the Morsel Spork. This spork from Morel is very handy to have in your gear list. We are teardrop campers, so our space is limited. Everything has to have a purpose and be compact. Items like the Morsel Spork, that serves multiple functions, fit right into our needs. We purchased both the mini and the XL. Both are the same (spork on one end, spoon/scraper on the other end), but the XL is a little longer. We found this very functional for regular eating from plates or bowls, or eating directly from food packets. I also found the scraper spoon side useful in cleaning out our french press carafe. Easy to clean, easy to use, comes in multiple colors, and happy to have it a part of our camping equipment.

Pretty Good

We chose this location to visit Acadia, Bar Harbor, and the island. We reserved a full hook up (back in), and were directed by an employee to our site. We incurred damage to our vehicle relying on the eyes/directions of an employee. The sites are very close together, some are shaded, some not. Our sewer dump was 3 ft or less from the neighbors fire pit, spotty WiFi, tv antenna only grabbed 4 public access channels. Good water pressure. Playground and pool looked nice. Free shuttle service to Acadia and Bar Harbor available. It was quiet on the 4th if July, no fireworks in the campground. We would likely stay elsewhere if we visit the area again.

I’ve gone to this campground for YEARS! The owners are very down to earth people and want everyone to feel welcomed. Haven’t been able to camp here the last 2 years but we are doing a family trip and going back later this summer!

Very convenient location on the island, also this campground is one of the stops for the Island Explorer to come pick you up. Close to Acadia National Park and Downtown Bar Harbor.

Also heard they just extended their WiFi so you can post all your awesome photos during your stay to make everyone jealous they aren’t there!

Convenient & Inexpensive for the Acadia area

Nice campsites, lots of options for both tents and RV’s, clean bathrooms, 50 cent showers, laundry room, a pool, and a playground for the kiddos. There is no dishwashing facility though, which seemed odd given all the other amenities. The campground staff are very sweet people.

No biking/hiking trails from the campground to the park, but it makes for an easy place to retreat to if you are visiting Acadia National Park and/or Bar Harbor. It’s beyond BUSY during the summer, but the fall is much less crowded and truly gorgeous! We cycled on the carriage roads, paddled in Frenchman's Bay, and hiked a few trails in Acadia -- all in a few days of camping here.

The Island Explorer bus makes a stop at this campground, so you can leave your car behind and enjoy the park on bike/foot. Everything you need for camping can be found in Ellsworth or Bar Harbor, located a few miles in either direction from this campground.

Awesome campground close to Acadia NP!

We stayed here for 5 nights in August, and loved it for so many reasons. Our campsite had a fire ring and picnic table and room for our car. It felt a bit secluded from our neighbors thanks to the trees, but we could sometimes easily hear the neighbors to the back of us. There is firewood and ice available (even block ice!), laundry, showers, bathrooms (all of which were clean and nice), as well as a pool! The campground is on the Island Explorer bus loop, which is the bus that takes you all around Mount Desert Island, to Acadia, and Bar Harbor. We used the bus almost every day, and it was super helpful because you do not want to try and find parking in Acadia in the peak season. Two days in a row our car battery didn't start, so one of the staff came with a battery pack to help us. They were super helpful and nice, and got us on our way! We would definitely stay here again.

Convenient location with all the necessities

Campground is far enough away from Bar Harbour to avoid most of the tourists if you’re looking for quiet time in the woods but close enough for a short car ride to good food, the park and Bar Harbour. Campground had a pool, hot showers and laundry that cost money, and a cute little office for all your information needs. The only downside were that the tent sites were incredibly close together.

Nice facility, unhelpful office staff

Nice facility but office staff was less than helpful. We were put on a shared site that had a pull thru in the middle of the two sites. Small site and not private.

Also available a small in-ground pool with a very dangerous and slippery diving board. Some other kids put a towel on the board to prevent slipping - the staff didn’t seem willing to help.

We did appreciate having shuttle services to Bar Harbor and Acadia Natl Park. Also a nice playground area for kids to enjoy.

Just outside of Acadia National Park

our family of four (my Husband and I and our 2 boys) stayed in a camping cabin for 5 days at the end of June. The cabin contained a queen sized bed and a set of bunk beds. It also had a private bathroom with metered shower. 50 cents got you a hot, 7 minute shower, which was plenty of time! You need to supply your own linens and towels. Toilet paper, garbage bags and a broom/dustpan are supplied. There was a fire ring outside of the cabin and a picnic table. We purchased firewood at a stand close to the campground. We found the cabins to be spaced far enough apart that we had peace and quiet and privacy. If you had wanted to make friends with your neighbors, you could. We noticed lots of families with children staying in the cabins area. The campground itself had a heated swimming pool. Best of all, the campground was on the Island Explorer bus route, which is a series of busses that take you to different areas of Acadia National Park and into the surrounding towns. Once you arrive at the campground, you wouldn’t need to use your car again!
