US Army Corps of Engineers

Barren River Lake

Overview

Bailey's Point campground is the largest of the Army Corps of Engineers' campgrounds on Barren River Lake. This campground offers several waterfront campsites with scenic views of the lake. Though the campground is one of the largest, you won't know it. There is room to roam, five camping loops with diverse scenery, and private coves for swimming or mooring your boat. You are sure to find a site that's your escape to nature and relaxation. View a virtual tour of Barren River Lake.

Recreation

Baileys Point has a boat ramp for access to prime fishing, water skiing and boating. Several islands in proximity to the campground are great for a quick picnic getaway by boat. Birding is also a popular activity with a variety of species including kestrels, indigo buntings, bald eagles and at night you can hear the calls of barred owls. Hikers can explore the C.E. Rager Nature Trail and the Robert Foster Hiking Trail. Robert Foster Hiking Trail gives you the opportunity to see the diversity of trees Kentucky has to offer and the C.E. Rager Nature trail is a nice short stroll along the shoreline of the lake. Great for poking around and possibly seeing the resident white squirrel of Baileys Point!

Facilities

Baileys Point has 215 sites for a variety of RV and tent campers and is open April through October. Most sites are equipped with electric and water hookups. With two playgrounds, a sand volleyball court, basketball court and amphitheater for weekend movie nights, the campground offers plenty of opportunities for family entertainment.

Natural Features

The 10,000-acre lake is hugged by wooded hillsides in south-central Kentucky. With scenic views from almost every campsite, it's sure to make for a memorable camping experience.

Nearby Attractions

Across the lake from Baileys Point is the Barren River Lake State Resort Park, host of the Glasgow Highland Games. Other ramps and marinas close by are Port Oliver, Peninsula, and The Narrows. Not far away are other attractions such as the National Corvette Museum, Kentucky Down Under, Diamond Caverns, and many other day trips within reach. Visitors can explore Mammoth Cave National Park, an hour north of the campground.

Family Favorite

My family has been camping here for the last 3 years, we have camped in every section, there isn't a bad spot. Staff is awesome and super friendly. Our highlight is definitely the fall because we participate in the Halloween festivities which is something to see, can't brag about this place enough.

Peaceful Lakeside campsite

Great level gravel site. We are on the lake, not lake access but great peaceful relaxing views of the water and water traffic. Shower and bath house clean. The sites are spaced just right. You have pull through sites and back in sites. Great campground.

Beautiful views

We camped at Bailey's on Memorial Day weekend and had a blast. The campsite has beautiful views, nearby access to the water, lots of spots for fishing, a swimming area (although rock bottom and no sand) for the kids and clean facilities. The staff were super nice and security or local law enforcement made a few loops. The grounds (lawn, mowing, weeds, etc) could use some help but overall we'd be back. Note, there is no firewood or ice for sale on site. No worries for us but others may like to know.

Not what it used to be

We have been camping at baileys for several years. The campground is starting to deteriorate. Standard grounds maintenance is slipping. Whoever handles the contract should really look at the work being performed. Many of the campsites are starting to show age and need updating. Old electrical boxes and leaking water. This review is hard to write but after spending some time at neighboring tn state parks baileys is just no longer maintaining its status.

Love this campground

Family friendly campground, the bathhouses are kept clean usually. We loved fishing and swimming in the lake and we’re able to bring our golf cart to drive to bathhouse and camp store.

Awesome Place

This campground is my favorite to campground. I have all good things to say.
I am a new camper and I even walked the campground to find other sites to set up at. I have a 39ft, Sites E was very wooded and tight. I will stay away from that area. Simply because I am not experienced.

Amazing campground can’t wait to go back!!!

Relax and Enjoy

I have been to this campground many times and never disappointed. I have been there in spring, summer and Fall and I have always want to extend my stay. This place stays busy so plan early, it fills up fast. Many of the sites have water views, but my favorite is A12. Absolutely gorgeous view and perched out above the water for a panaramic view.

There is a boat launch if you are so inclined, playground for kids. There are sites deep into the woods creating a very cozy setting. Be careful to look at what comes with the site because some have no water hookups but potable drinking water nearby.

Best campground at Barren River Lake

Plenty of sites to choose from to fit your specific needs / requirements. Most sites have gravel drives and patio areas; some are paved. Most sites have good shade. Boat ramp within camp ground property. Bath houses are OK and cleaned daily.

Our Go-To

What can I say, but Bailey's is our happy little piece of paradise! I've camped here since I was in my early 20s in tents, to camping in a camper in my 40s. Most sites have electric and water. Many sites have incredible views of Barren River Lake and some are downright on the banks. Bath houses are climate controlled and CLEAN. Bailey's is a large campground but it's not usually crowded with loud, obnoxious people. There's nearly a camaraderie here between the campers and while everyone is friendly, they tend to keep to themselves. We like loops B and C the best for a combo of waterfront views and shade trees. Something about watching the moonlight sparkle on the lake with a warm, crackling fire nearby. Bailey's is it!

Some of the campsites are a bit crowded, but almost all are in the shade.  We were disappointed that we had to drive several miles to get to the swim beach, but overall it is a very nice campground.

Love the views

Baileys Point Campground didn’t disappoint! The sites are spacious with paved or gravel sites available, picnic tables, fire rings and clean restrooms. There are lake view sites and lake front sites. There are inlets where you can tie off your boats. The cell signals are good, we have Verizon! We will definitely be back

Beautiful and peaceful!

One of our favorite campgrounds! The campground is huge! There are 6 loops to choose from. Be sure to make sure of site lengths and if there is electric (because not all have electric in every loop) our personal favorite is loop E. Sites are varying in condition and some aren’t very level, but the view and scenery make up for it.

Our Go-to!

We’ve stayed here several Times and always love it. Love being able to access the lake. Sites are spaced nicely, lots of shade in most areas. We usually stay in the E loop. Beware of some of the best sites in the B loop. Some of them do not have electric hookup, but the view is amazing! Also gets a little crowded at the dump station on the weekends at check our time. Be sure to visit Paradise Point a short drive from the campground. It’s amazing!

Bailey’s Point has ample camping, with great views.

Bath houses are clean and well maintained. Each camping loop has one bath house. You can see the lake from 99% of the camping spots. Attendants are courteous and helpful. As a family of 7 we would stay there again and again!

Beatiful spot on the lake

This campground is a favorite spot of ours that is close to home. it is only a 40 minute drive from Bowling Green. it has nice bathroom and shower facilities. Great access to the lake and a variety of shaded campsites. The campground host are always gracious and helpful.

We camp with a teardrop, so every site we have stayed at is spacious and accommodating.

There is access to a boat ramp and a few miles of trails that connect to a picnic area. there is also a playground, volleyball court and ample opportunities to enjoy the lake.

Be sure to check out Paradise Point and The Landing at Port Oliver while you are there!

Right on the Water!

Love this campground. It's one of the few in the state where you can camp near the water and keep your kayaks or boat within a quick stroll. It also has welcome shade in almost every sIte which helps during the hot humid days of summer. A beautiful park during the fall with all the changing colors on the numerous trees, too. Barren River Lake is peaceful and serene to camp alongside. Facilities are well kept including bathhouses, park areas, laundry, roads and sites. Pet friendly. Online reservations are convenient. A favorite place just an hour from Bowling Green, KY.
