One of our favorites !
Have stayed here several times, one of our grandkids favorite KOA's. Staff is one of the nicest and most helpful we've ever encountered.
Unbelievable !
Stayed here for five nights attending a family reunion. First time staying at a koa and it was awesome. From the site service firewood and food delivery, to the location and people who stopped here in their travels. I will definitely stay at a KOA again!

Very laid back
QUIETEST KOA IN AMERICA. no hiway no traintracks or airport! Well kept.. bathrooms are a little scarce and WET.. but very nice little campground and VERY friendly staff.
Great Setting, Nice Campground
Very courteous staff and clean campground. Pizza on site is excellent snd you can order it ahead for your arrival.
What can I say…KOA!
Everything you expect from a KOA. Roadside Oasis, a place to rest a weary head, food, showers, etc. Cabins always help get you in and get out early without setting up camp.
Wonderful Quick Stay
Stayed here overnight while heading to Colorado. Extremely friendly staff, very clean site, easy check-in and points redemption, and tons of activities for the kids. We would absolutely come back to stay for a full weekend!
Perfect spot for our family layover
What’s not to like? Clean, quiet, easy to setup. Perfect spot for our family to spend an evening. I’m sure it would also be great for a several night stay over.
Now open year round
Not too far off the highway. Office is open until 7pm which was very helpful as we arrived a little later than expected. We’ll kept, clean bathrooms with space heaters running to ensure they’re warm during the December cold. Would love to visit in the summer as they have a ton of fun amenities for kids such as a pool, dunk tank, gem mining, ladder golf, horseshoes, jumping pillow, water balloon wars, basketball and more. Don’t pay attention to the highway signs that says they’re only open until October, they’re working on updating them.

2nd Stay here!
Such a lovely and clean campground! I love the beautiful surroundings here. Definitely worth the visit.
Nice Enough
Nice, clean bathrooms, food/drink available in their nice store. Fun outdoor toys for kids. Pool has historically been gross after 4th of July but there are new owners in 2021, maybe its improved now. Easy access from I80, good couple restaurants in Adel.
Great campground!
So, 20 years ago in 2001 we stayed here on our back home from Yellowstone. It was a dismal place. The guy who ran the place was a jerk. There was a terrible odor all through the campground, which turned out to be dozens of dead fish in their retention pond. We vowed never to go back.
While planning our latest trip I decided to stop here. 20 years makes a world of difference! This place is great! Clean bathrooms/showers with NO CODE! Friendly service. The sites are upgraded& nicely graveled. The pond was dead fish free.
Not crazy about buddy sites, but I guess you can stuff more people in the row that way. Request another row.
If I had one complaint- there's no shower/bathroom at the end of the rows. You have to walk all the back to the end to shower. We were in site 52. My mobility challenged husband caught a ride to & from with the guy on the golf cart (thanks!). Many KOAs have a small toilet/shower combo when the main building is far away. Might be something to consider.
Very nice facilities, not great atmosphere
Very nice bathrooms, store, pool, etc as far as standard KOA amenities go. But very lacking on trees and very packed in. Site 31 is a “buddy site” and you are sitting on top of your neighbors with no privacy. It works pretty good if you actually have a “buddy”, but if you come alone it’s not private at all.
A beautiful campground and nice staff
It was such a nice campground we could have stayed there a few nights but our plans didn’t allow for a longer visit.
Fun for young kids!
It was a fun place for kids. They had plenty to do between the pool and all of the fun activities. We went during Father’s Day weekend so they had face painting, movies, and hungry hungry daddy (a version of hungry hungry hippos). Over all I think it would be a fun maybe 1 time a year place while kids are young. I like the outdoors so I wished the camper spaces were MUCH bigger! You are on top of your neighbors. They didn’t have grates for our grill and when we called they tried to get a make shift one which was at least something for us to use to cook off of (we could have just ordered pizza from their kitchen lol). So it’s definitely a camper only friendly place, tent spaces are almost nonexistent. Overall extremely clean, staff was great, they pick up your trash.. it’s glamping at it finest.
Peaceful and clean!
We stayed one night in a basic cabin. AC was on upon arrival- check in/out was quick and easy !Bathrooms were immaculate! Pizza & Chicken ordered on site was a delicious dinner when we were just to tired to fuss with our own gear. Nice store too!!
Well run, lots of activities
Spots kind of level, lots of choices of pull thru or buddy sites. Decent playground, water pillow for bouncing, fishing pond, dog park, swimming pool. Well maintained, lots of planned activities. KOA, so not a lot of nature. But no traffic or train noise. Full hook ups, including TV.
Convenient
Although we were arriving after 10pm, we could still check in without a reservation! They have an awesome “self check in”. A board marked with available spaces we chose from. Clean restrooms and showers!! Looked to be lots of fun, kid oriented amenities.
Clean, spacious and friendly
We stayed at the West Des Moines KOA for the Nationals Softball Tournament for my daughter in July. There were 6 families that stayed there with us. It was so much fun because we were able to all be either on buddy sites together and one had a patio site. The pool was refreshing for the girls and all of the activities kept them busy and having fun! All while being close to the city but the beauty of the country!!!
Nice
Clean, small
Basic KOA nothing fancy, but clean and well maintained, close to I80.
Small but nice facilities. Sites are a bit cramped
Passing Through
There are many organized weekend activities for families. Spaces are tight and some share electrical, so bring your connectors just in case. Very little shade. Not far from town and other local attractions.
