Beautiful and well-maintained State Park

Campground is well-kept but a little cramped. The trails are great for hiking and running. I would camp here again.

We love this little gem!

Hiked in the morning on some great trails. Well maintained and mostly stone covered. Most have trail markers. You walk along the river during parts of trail 5. Very peaceful. Biked during the afternoon. Ok I modified my review. The trains at 3 am was annoying. Just saying.

Nice Campground

Mounds is a lovely state park, and the campground is nice, but certainly not one of my favorites. I would return for a weekend excursion, but probably not for an extended stay. Campground was a bit loud due to proximity to the airport. We came right after a big rain and a lot of the sites were flooded out. There was also a raccoon bothering us most of the night. He was really bold! We named him Harold. We also stayed during the off-season, so I can’t attest to the restrooms. Pit toilets were fine as far as pit toilets go. And the sites were wide and open with good fire rings and cooking grates. There was a few options to connect up to a trail, and the park is small enough we were able to see most of it in a day. Would definitely recommend coming here if you prefer RV camping, or just want to get away for a weekend, but I’m a bigger fan of primitive sites more tucked away. All of Mounds sites are electric.

A nice park. Electric only.

It’s a nice park for kids. Has a nice swimming pool. Easy trails. Nice playground. $5 firewood bundles. Mostly a weekender park. It is right next to a small craft airfield do it can get noisy at times and there is little wind protection.

Great family campground

Great campground for families, lots of hiking trails, rocky beach for kids to play in river, canoeing. Black top roads great for kids to ride bikes too. The visitor center had feeding time for the animals and other activities as well. Make sure to get campsites 9-20 as they have shade.

Campings best secret in Anderson In gem

We just purchased our first camper. A Coleman Lantern 17B. We wanted to do a shake down trip close to home so we chose Mounds State Park just 45 minutes north of Indianapolis. Upon entering the park we drove to the campsite. The sites were immaculate.  The bathrooms some of the cleanest ive seen anywhere!  The charming camp store has a hummingbird feeder where birds come by often for some sweet nectar. We only stayed 2 nights and managed to walk all the trails and spend tome at the actual mounds. Ot was a great chance to work out  our bigs close to home. We will definitely be back.

Mounds

Nice state park in Indiana. Only offering electric hook up. Water locations could block traffic if camper does not park accurately. Store at Check in offered necessities. Hiking trails were nice.

Great weekend.

Very nice. Small and quiet. Lots of historical significance. Very nice trails. Awesome visitors center. The campground is right next to a local airport. Not terrible, but can be noisy. Can also be entertaining! Also a rail line pretty close that woke us up couple times a night.

Small park

Pads are paved but narrow. Roads are narrow. Next to airport. We stayed at site 11. It’s a 50 amp. Liked the woods view. Our 41 ft 5th wheel fit with room. They are strict about multiple cars and parking on the grass. Small playground. Too early for the pool to be open. Historic home you can tour as well as a “Mounds” tour. Trails are pretty easy and not too lengthy.

Small family friendly

This is a nice state park outside of Anderson In. It has nice walking trails and is on the White river. There is a gorgeous swimming pool. The bath house is clean, but not the best. It is cheap to camp at this location about $37 for the first night and $30 there after.

Nice, quiet park

This was our second trip to the campground and first trip with a camper. Nice small park, overall things were quiet. There is a railroad track nearby, but the noise is not bothersome. I love the trails and the mounds. We will try a nearby kayak rental place next time.

Another Family Favorite

Our visit here was awesome as always. I love the history they share about the Indians and the old amusement park that used to be there. Their trails are decent and the campground is very clean. I've always had the nicest neighbors, and they also have a pool that is open during the summer days. I think it is an additional $2 to get in. They have a very nice nature center that holds some common snakes and turtles. You can also rent a little explorer pack for your young ones to take along a trail. It includes a magnifying glass, and such things.

If I home schooled....

MoundsState Park just struck me as a perfect spot to field trip to if you homeschool your children.

Located in Chesterfield, In the park is small but has a lot of historical, geographical and natural information to be had. There are programs offered also at the nature center.

The campground is like the park as a whole, small and neat. The sites are lined up in several rows without much shade. The showerhouse is centrally located and there are pit style toilets. There is a playground at one end and what appeared to be a Trailhead.

The hikes around the mounds and park are well laid out and the boardwalk is very interesting. Spray on an extra layer of bug juice because they are thick.
