Great sites, great park and great paddling.

We loved this park. Our site was level and somewhat secluded with heavy vegetation between sites where we were. Site 6 is a pull-thru, level, 50 amp and water. No sewer. The park has great museums with very interesting history about Stephen Foster and the park itself.

Our primary reason for staying here was to paddle the Suwanee River. There is a local outfitter that will provide shuttle service if you have your own boats or they do have rentals available. We did the short trip due to time considerations, but thoroughly enjoyed the paddle.

We did eat at Fat Belly's in White Springs. It was good, reasonably priced and convenient.

We only stayed two nights, but would plan to stay longer if we get by this way again.

Beautiful

Pull thru site 2. Very shady and plenty of room. Restrooms and showers directly behind us, very clean and well maintained. Walked to the museum, learned a lot about Stephen Foster and all his music. Great park.

Excellent

Nice Park

This park has a nice balance of historical and natural features. The campsites are large with a gravel surface. Some are in a more open and grassy area and others have vegetation and more spacing between them. The outer back-in sites of the Suwannee and Canebreak loops have the densest vegetation and the most privacy. Most sites are partially shaded. Our site was nice, but in the sun from late morning until early evening. The bathrooms and campground were clean.

This is a great park! Had site 4, pull thru. Great site. Pretty big, and shady. Gravel site with 50 amp, and water. Visited the Stephen Foster museum and bell tower. Wow! All the songs he wrote. If you go, it’s a must to do. It’s free. Didn’t use the restrooms, since we were there only one night. But will go back!

Peaceful

Unfortunately, we were only here for one night. This park is very peaceful. It’s nice and dark at night. It’s really interesting to walk around the museum. We had so much room with our site! Very spacious. When I booked online it said it was a back in, we get there and we’re happily surprised to see it’s a pull thru.

Nice Campground close to I-75 in North Florida

This was a return visit for me, the last time was in November of last year. What a difference in the water level of the river makes! The campsite was nice, quiet and relatively large and private as before. We had our teardrop TAG along and appreciated the parking bed that was well drained as it was a bit wet the night that we were there. The bathrooms were clean and well cared for, as were the grounds in general. In summary, a great place and one I know we will gladly return to.

Site 8 is perfect

Most campsites are nice. Clean bathhouse and laundry. Odd museum and nothing was open. Historic Sulphar Spings was cool but terrible signage. Need trail maps for hiking in park.Not much to do downtown. We rode our electric bikes around and saw the historical houses. Need a cafe and some shops.

Great spot - 4.5 stars

I agree with all the 5 star reviews so I won’t repeat what they said. Love this place and will come back. 1 minor drawback is dumping. All morning long (Monday) there was a line of campers waiting to dump. It’s now 11:30am and the line is down to 2. Still a great place to camp

Great campground close to I-75

Overall: Excellent campground with close access to the Suwannee River, not far off I-75 near White Springs. The sites are, for the most part, nicely private with a good bit in intentional foliage between them. Most of the sites are well shaded. The river access and trail are beautiful. The water level was quite high when I was there compared to prior visits so it was not possible to walk along the waterline.

Getting there: Get off I-75 at the White Springs exit, go East on NW thunder Street, left on State Rd 100 and follow the signs.

Check in and staff: I was there on a Saturday night, having easily made reservations online using the Florida State Park website: https://www.floridastateparks.org/camping. My ticket with site number and map was there in the little booth for pick up. I did not see any staff the entire time that I was there.

Amenities: Most of the attractions like the carillon tower, craft center etc were closed when I was there. The canoe launch and the river access were easy to get to and beautiful in the early morning light. It seemed that a wedding was recently done or going to be done down by the river in the little pavilion there. Fresh water and electricity at sites with them worked well.

Bathrooms: clean, well kept. Laundry machines available. I did not try taking a shower so I cannot comment on that but they looked clean.

Site: I had site 33. Very nice, private and relatively close to the bathroom. Flat and well drained. Bugs not too bad this time of year. Fire ring, BBQ and wooden picnic table were clean. The only negative that I experienced while there is that one neighbor or the other seemed to have the entire population of the campground at the site, having a very raucous noisy party. I finally had to yell for quiet about 10 pm to try to get some sleep. Fortunately the folks responded by quieting down, even though “quiet time” starts at 11pm per park rules.

Clean, large sites, very quiet

We have been to Stephen Foster 4 or 5 times over the last 10 years and every visit was perfect. The sites are very large, navigation with a 40' unit is easy. Many sites are pull-tru, all except one are only 30 amp. Many sites, 2 t0 11 and almost all pull-tru's are very private. It is our preferred stop over going from GA to FL.

Nice Park

At the time of our visit the Suwannee River was in flood stage, so most of the amenities were closed because the river was dangerous. Due to heavy rains, there was quite a bit of standing water and a LOT of mosquitoes. But the park was nice. The bathrooms were clean and it would be a great place to explore on a bike. Our spot only had 30amp service, but we saw some that had 50 amp. But we had excellent privacy in a very deep spot.

Clean and quiet

Awesome campground and facilities!

We stayed here a couple of years ago while visiting family and friends in Lake City, about 20 miles away. I was very impressed with the facilities, very clean and well kept. Site 19 is a long pull through with plenty of room for a big rig and tow vehicle. Picnic table and fire ring available. Beautiful trees with Spanish moss give the park that old Florida feel. This is Florida, so expect humidity and some bugs. Not a lot of breeze at our site but very shady. Staff was very courteous and helpful, work campers rode by occasionally and would carry off trash if needed. There is a nice museum and camp store/gift shop onsite also. Cell service was good, didn't try the tv. There is no big stores nearby, just a Dollar General in White Springs near the entrance. Definitely a thumbs up.

Fantastic Place to Camp

Pulled in to camp after dark. Talked to Ranger Kevin on the way in and he went above and beyond to make sure we had all the information we needed. We had a pull through site that made setup a breeze. Immaculate bathrooms, showers, and heated dressing area. The campground hosts checked in on us twice. Cant wait to stop back on our way home for a couple days to explore!

Peaceful

We took the 2 hour guided boat ride and got a feel for the swamp.My grandsons spent two nights on platforms , there are many, paddling through the Swmp and exploring. Great adventure for teens. Lots of alligators.

One of my favorite campgrounds

This is one of the most fun state parks I have ever been to. The campgrounds are spacious and well maintained. There is so much to do and see. In the daytime we kayaked our and saw hundreds of gators and other wildlife. We visited Billy’s island and explored there. Then at night we were treated to stargazing with a giant telescope. There is a playground for children a easy nature trail with a geocache and so much more.

History

This campground as a lot to offer. First off, it is on the well known Florida river, the Suwanee River, so there are many water sports that can be done here. There is an accessible boat ramp, but unfortunately it is low at this part of the river (May 2018), so its best for canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. I was able to take me dog down there for a quick swim which she loved! Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash and do not enter the cabin areas. The tent/RV areas are very large and also pretty private which is nice. The facilities were very clean and large and the staff is wonderful!

What makes this site different than a lot of places I have been is that there is a craft village. They are usually open daily for different activities. The gift shop is very large with a lot of crafts that have been made in the village. Make sure to ask about Edgar the Alligator. He is hidden around the park and if you find him, you get a free ice cream. This is such a fun idea for kids (or if your like me, adults too!). There is also a very old bell tower and muesem on site which offers a lot of history about Stephen Foster and his influence on folk songs.

Quiet spacious and clean. Wonderful cabins for the disabled.

If you don't have a RV and can't stay in a tent, then reserve one of their wonderful camping cabins. The one we had is reserved for the disabled and has a large bathroom, a nice size and well equip kitchen, a fire place, and the screened porch with rocking chairs and a swing covers two sides of the cabin. It's only a short walk down a paved walk to the Suwanee River..

A beautiful natural resource

This was absolutely the quietest place I have ever camped & kayaked. It is astonishingly peaceful midweek in May. Terrific opportunity, don't hesitate. Well spread out, large, nice facilities. Hundred of (non aggressive) gators, 1000's of birds. Enjoy!

Very Nice Park in FL - Some amenities were down

We ended up at Stephen Foster State Folk Cultural Center in White Springs, FL. We stayed @ site 10. Lots of local exploring available! There is an 8 mile bike trail and much more! The park has access to boating & kayaking on the Suwannee River

Clean, good facilities

I've tent camped at Stephen Foster three times in the winter. The campsites are not jampacked on top of each other. The bathroom/shower facilities have always been clean.

Best stop on the Suwannee

This is a very large are to visit. So much to see right along the river, the Carillon Tower, great campsites, so many craft and arts shows, Christmas season here is a delight with all the holiday lights. I can't say enough about this wonderful park! Beautiful pavilions right on the river are popular for small wedding party photos, easy stop from the river if kayaking by. Nearby town of White Springs is fun to explore to! Not far from Big Shoals, another great spot on the river! Visit American Canoe Outfitters for a day or multi day trip on the river and Fat Bellies has some great BBQ! AS with all parks - the busy season is BUSY! RV sites fill up most - tent camping is much more relaxed and more private of an area. Nice clean bathrooms. Firewood usually available at the gate
