Directions

Main entrance is located on the south side of the highway about 1/6 mile East of the Suwannee River on highway 19 in Fanning Springs, Florida. The town is approximately 40 miles west of Gainesville Fl. via highway 26 to Fanning Springs, then north on US highway 19 about 1/2 mile to the park. It is also about ten miles north of the town of Chiefland on US highway 19.

Staff is so rude

When I was calling to make a reservation the girl on the phone was sweet but you could tell she was new and had to ask other people to e answers to my questions. I could hear their responses in the background and were rude af. I guess they didn’t think I could hear them, but honestly it made me change my mind about going there. Would recommend Manatee Springs / Otter Springs, they’re both cute and clean AND less expensive

Family friendly, easily accesible

Stopped here for a trail bike ride while staying at Otter Springs. The entrance is well marked, but don't expect Siri to take you there. She's confused. It was $6 for the car entrance. There's ample parking, and the trail is clear. Lots of oaks at this, the gateway to the Suwanee. Restrooms are clean.

Very beautiful spring on Suwanne River

Located 20 minutes from Cedar Key, Horseshoe beach, and Stienhatchee it's a very relaxing get away with a beautiful spring. Swimming is great and snorkeling.

Rules Rules

So, this is a place if you do not arrive by boat, bicycle or on foot, plan to put out cash for a 2 night minimum stay for a cabin rental. We came in by kayak so we did spent 1 night in their primitive spot. No cabins for us. They do have 5 though if you are interested - they are very nice, fully furnished, fireplaces, all the swag you would expect. You have to book cabins very early and in the summer the spring this place can be quite crowded.

In the winter months it can be quite special! There will be morning mist coming off the spring, manatee hanging out in the warm waters, and peaceful surroundings.

This location pretty strict on the rules and rangers that manage the place make sure you know them.

Primitive site (located on bank above launch) is not far from the river. Only 1 fire ring and they ask not to have a group larger than 8 at the primitive came (we had 2 so no worries). We neglected to make reservations in advance (as we were not sure what day we were coming in) but there was no one else there luckily. There is a bathroom and access to water a bit away from camp also. Only a cold water shower is available.
