Camp On The Gulf
About
In 1937, our grandmother took her first trip to the panhandle of northern Florida and found pristine beauty in the crystal white beaches and the aqua blue waters. This unforgettable experience prompted her to take many more trips to South Walton with her family over the years. In 1968, our family's love for the area culminated with the purchase of this property, and we have been operating as a campground ever since.
South Walton has experienced a tremendous transformation over the decades, but our goal of sharing this area with our guests has never wavered. Whether you have been staying with us for years, or if you have never visited us before, we are excited for you to experience the same beauty that captivated our grandmother over 85 years ago!

Nice Place but Pricey
We had great but tight camping just 10 steps from the beautiful sandy beach. Lots of great and clean amenities. Very nice people running the campground and very nice people around us. The beach is beautiful.
loved it
Great campground in a fantastic location. Can’t be closer to the beach.
Camp Gulf
Short walk to the beach. Sites are close together $200/night
Pricey but good value
Kind staff, well cared for pools, activity center, bathrooms, laundry, and roads (important since it’s right on the beach!). The beach is the highlight of course and walking distance no matter where you’re parked in the campground. Great culture - everyone has been so friendly. Easy location to all conveniences. Some sites are small and tight but man, people squeeze in!! The descriptions of sites when booking are helpful in knowing what will work for your setup. This is a splurge for us to be at the beach for a week. I’m glad it’s proving to be worth the price.
On the beach
We’ve been here the past two winters. Great proximity to the beach. Depending on your site several are just steps from the beach (actually on the beach if you don’t need sewer). If you aren’t familiar with the beaches in this area, they are GORGEOUS! Crystal blue water and sugar white sand. This is in Miramar Beach close to Destin. Not a bad drive to 30-A (30 min without traffic).
As far as the campground…this place is tired. Sites are decent. Don’t shy away from buddy sites…they are some of the best/most spacious. Bathhouse/rest rooms are pretty clean. The location alone is what makes us come back. They have a 3 month special in the winter (Nov 30-Mar 1) if you stay during those dates it’s around $1000/month.
Spring Break at Camping on The Gulf
We had an awesome time at Camping on the Gulf (Camp Gulf). My husband and I took our 4 kids and they loved it there. They can’t stop talking about it and are ready to go back. The campground is right on the Gulf of Mexico with some sites right on the sand. We were in a pull through and it was a bit tight and small, but really that was my only complaint with the campground. The sites in the back of the park were roomier and had some shade, which I think made up for them not being as close to the ocean. The bath houses were awesome! They had individual bathrooms with a toilet, sink and fully tiled shower with glass enclosure. These were by far the best bathhouses I have ever seen. There is a large laundry in the middle of the campground and it was very clean with a huge table for folding clothes on and large rolling carts to put your laundry in when you take them out of the washer or dryer. There were also 2 pools, one of which was heated. This was great because it was still pretty cold at the beginning of April. There is a large water slide beside the main pool. They also had lots of activities for the kids. My kids made lots of friends and really hated to have to leave. In addition to campsites they also have glamping tents which looked really neat and cabins/tiny houses for rent. Additionally they offered golf cart rentals and had a food truck located inside that park. We ordered nachos from it one night and they were great.

Cabins
Was a great time. Very clean. Close walk to the pool and water
Awesome RV Park
Super cool RV park. It has a heated pool and a hot tub. Fantastic playground over sand. A turtle pond, laundry facility, bathhouse and on the beach. We loved it in December.
Camp Gulf
Great camp ground! Facilities are clean and everyone has been so nice. They are currently going through management changes. But the staff has still be great. Depending on the size of your RV, get ready to test out those driving skills. Some camp sites are in tight areas to maneuver. But all the space you need once your setup. My family had site 215, while staying here. Walks to the beach are not to far at all. WiFi is not the best, but better than some state parks we have visited. Our site had level solid ground so it made setup easy as well. If you ask my thoughts on Camp Gulf… I’d tell you we are already booked again for next year.

Location Location Location
This park has something for everyone. Up top away from the beach the level sites have plenty of shade. Beachfront sites are tight but you have the ocean at your doorstep. Campgulf has several cabin and glamping options to give the non-camper plenty of options.
Camp Gulf
Great place for families and great beach access. Bring your beach chairs!
Winter getaway
We are Connecticut residents, we took a winter trip to Destin Florida. Camp gulf was an amazing experience for the whole family. The grounds were very clean and well kept, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The beach puts these grounds over the top. Amazing water and sand. I would recommend camp gulf to anyone looking for beach front camping...
Super nice !
This campground is really beautiful. Has two pools and everything else! Has the most beautiful beach in itire golf of Mexico ! The only set back, is the price : $ 257 for directly on the beach, and the rest are : $ 185 . It is very pricey!

Nice and clean
Plenty of trees, swimming pool and the staff was very friendly.
On the beach! But buggy.
My daughter and I had a great stay...until the tiny biting bugs got In Our Dodge Ram Promaster and we couldn’t get them out. We had to spray our bedding down w bug spray but it didn’t work so then we had to bag all the bedding into trash bags and sleep on the mattress without blankets. We couldn’t open the vents or the bugs would come in so we slept with all the windows/vents closed and inhaled the bug spray all night. We both woke up after a fitful night of non sleep all swollen from the chemicals. Besides that it was the best RV park ever! A bit crowded but we had a nice spots that was at the end near the beach backed up to a fence so it felt fairly private. The bathhouse was nice. A lot of private showers. Just don’t try to use them at peak time before dinner because it will be busy and u will have to wait for one.

Location Location Location
Pros: beautiful beach, friendly staff, great location in proximity to stores (walmart, Publix, shopping outlets, fish market).
Cons: tight, winding roads inside the complex. Tight, uneven concrete pads.
Even with the tight quarters, the white sandy beach being right there, is amazing.
Crowded but clean
Great bathrooms, stellar scene, friendly neighbors. Love this concept and if you don’t mind lots of eyes on your site, beach camping is the coolest. Our little camper van was a miniature compared to these big rigs. One outdoor pool was closed but one was covered in a huge inflatable tent. We had it all to ourselves for an evening dip. Even on a rainy day, you can’t beat the location. 25 min beach walk to Surf Hut for dinner.
Park On the Beach!
Just as nice as a resort but here you have direct access to the sand, because you can park directly on the beach! No need for shoes if you get a site on the sand. Sites are very tight here, but daytime staff escorts help you back into your site. Lush foliage and palms provide some division between sites and facility buildings. The showers and laundry houses are well above average and super cute, actually. The first beachfront row books out far in advance, but the drawbacks are that you cannot have dogs on that row (or on the beach) and you have to maneuver your tires in deep sand. The soft, white sand here is a dream on your feet but quite a challenge to park a big rig on. Still, you see plenty of Class A and toy haulers here. I stayed in site 705 on the second row from the beach and it was ideal for dogs. Beach front site 805 never showed up so I had a direct view to the waves for two nights. With everyone’s AC units on, you cannot hear the waves as you might have hoped, but the stars were very visible. This beach is really spacious and clean (besides being anti-dog), and the steep $125/night is justified when you step directly from your RV into the sand. The downside was really just the tightness of the sites. My neighbor’s awning nearly touched my camper on one side and I could not open my umbrella due to my other neighbor’s slide out. I would have been in trouble in this site had I had slide outs too. The two pools (water slide), kid-friendly food truck, and clubhouse seemed to keep the hordes of children entertained. Conveniently located near Sandestin on Miramar Beach between Destin and the cute resort town of Seaside. Lots of delivery food options nearby and Holi Indian Kitchen was particularly delicious (and vegan friendly). Can’t wait to return and stay longer next time.

Beautiful location
We visited here in August, of course with the COvid-19 scare everyone was cautious. The sites are tight but most are very level and have full hookups.. the sites at beach side do lot have full hookups and you pay a premium for the site but also have to pay again to have your sewer pumped out.. the sites just at the top of the beach sites have a great view but no trees or shade.. the sites beyond the pool and activity center have trees and shade.. short walk to the beach.. the staff is nice but firm on rules, maybe a little over zealous due to the congested space. Don’t park your golf cart in the wrong spot! I would suggest a less congested time to visit. Early Spring or late Summer/fall.

Best beaches, packed camping
This is a super congested area in the popular Destin area. The compact campground can feel claustrophobic, but we spend most of our days at the beach. It’s very well maintained and staffed.
IN THE SAND!
Wow, what a nice place. I’m sure the experience would be even better if it were not the middle of a pandemic. This place offers a lot. Salt, sand and sun. What more does a family need? The laundry was lacking and of course some of the facilities were closed due to social distancing. The campground is in a great location to shopping and the grocery. A clean private beach and 2 separate pools in the campground offer all the water fun kids can possibly have. The campground also has some really good food trucks that come through in case dinner would be to much after a day at the beach.
Beautiful Beach
We stayed in 552. This spot is very close to the beach access and bath house. It is a short walk to the pool with slides. There is a small playground and the kids enjoyed that. Pay attention to the size site you reserve some of them are more narrow and less deep than others. It can make backing in a challenge. They were very busy when we arrived and we had to pause our back in twice to left the traffic flow.
Our site was full hookup which was great. The sites are clean but being on the beach there is a lot of sand. The pool was nice but it could have been more clean than it was. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Great place to take the family.
Loved it. RTT friendly
We love this spot. We stayed in spot 117 with my rooftop tent, Setup perfectly. Power, water, and cable if needed. Bathrooms and showers are very nice. Beach is a very short walk away and gorgeous white sand with clear water. Friendly staff. Will stay again.
Fall stay
Great on the beach camp ground. Full service, good security, location and very friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend.
Absolutely gorgous!
So beautiful especially camping right on the sand looking out on the ocean. The area is touristy but there are many fun things to do so that’s a plus. The pools are nice as well. Definitely recommend
Gulf front camping with good amenities.
Parking your rig is TIGHT. Like super tight. 2 nice pools and all other amenities like Wi-Fi, laundry, sewer, etc. Easy access to local shopping and dining.

Awesome!!
We loved this place. Beautiful!
Spring break visit
We had a good time camping here. The beach was beautiful. We did see a lot of jellyfish in the water so be aware of that. We even caught one in a fishing net. The week we were there they had a different activity for the kids each day. They had painting sand dollars, bubba the alligator show, face painting and even an Easter egg hunt. They have 2 pools one is covered and heated with a hot tub. They have basketball courts, corn hole, a playground even pool tables. The staff is super helpful helping you to park because the spaces are tight. We also rented a cart buggy to haul our stuff to and from the beach for $5 a day and it came in handy taking laundry to the laundry area. The restrooms were very clean and they have individual shower rooms that have a toilet and sink too. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back here to beautiful Destin.
