Lone Duck Campground and Cabins

Great little campground. Sites are close but you are not right in top of each other. Electric and water (good water pressure) were perfect. The dump site was top notch - all tools supplied - water hose, slinky, even the spray tool to go inside bathroom. There was a little road noise but so much that it truly bothered me at all. Great location and I would definitely stay there again.

We are traveling from CA to OH and this campground was our 3rd stop. We ended up staying for 3 nights. Very friendly staff, nice bathroom/showers, game room, playground for kiddos, fishing pond and a heated pool!!! I am so pleased with our stay here and we will definitely venture back to this campground.

Every time I go to Long duck campground it is a very good experience.. for cooking and camping and enjoying the scenery..

Shower or ok. But that’s all. Lot level but dusty. Payed for two nights but left the next morning.

We stayed at a water/power site and it perfectly met our needs. We liked that the bathroom was nearby. My kids liked the game room. The WiFi was less than stellar, we had a hard time accessing it (and staying connected) even though we were very close to the main building.

We live in Colorado Springs so this camp ground is very close!

Pros: So fun to have a swimming pool! Great for kids! Great site with lots of trees!

Con: Kind of expensive, but the amenities are worth it! The pool had a ton of chemicals in it (could be a one time thing) Not enough bathrooms for the number of guests who are there.

We stayed here in August for almost 2 weeks and even though the campground doesn't have many full hook up sites (which we did not have).  It is a small campground so everything is close... easy access to the office, store, bathrooms and showers, along with a nice pool and a little fishing pond and game room for kids.  Love that the sights are mostly shaded sites and  maybe best of all is how close it is to a lot of attractions in the Colorado Springs area without being right in the busyness of it.  It is a high enough elevation that the temperatures were very comfortable.  The staff is great and very attentive, place is well kept up with and clean.  We were glad we found this place!!

The campground is pretty crowded and sits right next to the highway. They do have a lot of amenities and is 5 minutes away from Pikes Peak.

Lone Duck Campground was a good home base for us during our visit to Colorado Springs. The campground is several miles down from Woodland Park and about the same down to Manitou and the Springs. We were out and about during the days, but Lone Duck was nice to return to each afternoon.

Reservations were easy to do online. They had the site ready for us when we arrived.

Site 45 was great for our pop up. If we had our 30’ trailer, we wouldn’t have had room for our truck. The site is right next to a lovely stream that really drowned out any road noise. We slept great with the white noise the stream produced. Our site had a picnic table and fire pit (with grill grate). We had water and 30/20 amp electric.

The bathrooms/showers were in the main office. The men’s restroom had a couple of stalls and three showers. They were sufficient for me. The women’s restroom was small and cramped according to my wife. It appears the floors and walls had been coated with a garage floor or bed-liner material. It wasn’t the most appealing but again was sufficient. We did use the laundry room and all machines worked fine.

There is a store, small dining area, and arcade in the main office along with the restrooms and laundry room. Wifi was hit or miss from the campsites. It was better inside the office. The check in staff was aware of the wifi and mentioned they were working on it. (We weren’t here for the internet so again, not an issue for us).

The kids did swim in the pool. The water was warm and they seemed to enjoy playing with other kiddos there. There is a small playground next to the pool and fishing pond. Kids played there frequently until quiet hours.

There are a few small cabins on the grounds and separate sections of the park for tents. There are houses just across the stream from our site but we never heard from or noticed any of the neighbors.

There is quite a bit of greenery throughout the campground. I thought the place could use a mowing or weed eating, but maybe it’s normal to have local grasses/plants left alone to grow.

As others have mentioned it is a bit tricky getting in and out. If you leave toward Woodland Park, you’ll have to cross a couple of lanes and make u-turn. Same thing of your coming to the campground from Manitou. You’ll make a u-turn.

Overall, we liked the place and would stay again.

Family oriented. Nice to see all the amenities for families and kids. Campground had kinda old facilities and some places held together by tape.

In the mountains of Manitou Springs/Colorado Springs, just off the 24 highway, Loneduck Campground is tucked away down a driveway you will surely miss if you’re not paying close attention (look for the empty sign post sticking up from the highway, see my video). The grounds are quite nice... not luxury but rustic mountain vibe. Large trees and greenery with sites surrounding a small pond.

This is clearly a favorite destination for locals... lots of groups of friends with kids gathering and spending time together. If you dislike kids, you may want to reconsider. Kids laughing and enjoying fishing, the pool and playground up until quiet hours. We don’t have kids but enjoyed the sounds. Nights were quiet, even with the highway overhead. We slept every night with the windows open and the car noise was not an issue. It only got louder in the mornings. Barking dogs were much louder, but still not an issue.

The utilities were good enough, though water pressure was pretty low, especially once our neighbor arrived and fed off the same pipe.

While we didn’t use any, the amenities looked nice. Pool looked lovely and the playground was... beloved by the kids. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the pond with fishing. Fire pits were out of use due to the ban and there was a large dishwashing station for tent campers. There is an arcade which looked perfectly retro. We did use laundry, the machines were fine (takes quarters) but the room itself was a bit dingy. Can’t speak for showers or restrooms. The picnic table at our site had seen better days. Our biggest point of confusion was the placement of the dump station, right at the exit, so in some cases, people that don’t have to dump still have to wait for people to dump in order to leave. There was a long line on a Sunday morning but we managed to squeeze thru after about 10 minutes.

Staff was quite nice but if you’re very worried about COVID, be warned that virtually nobody wears a mask and high touch surfaces don’t seem to be cleaned frequently.

For everything they offer at the grounds, I think the price is very reasonable. They’re right next to the Pikes Peak by way and so close to so many other attractions/adventures. Also, there’s a running/walking path that brings you to Green Mountain Falls town just 1/2 mile away but you have to walk on Rt 24 for about 100 yards to get to the next street, so be careful.

The reservation process was a breeze and they were very responsive and accommodating when we wanted to add a day. A great spot to spend time.

We stopped here for 3 nights with our 2 young kids and its a cute little campground. We got a perfect full hookup site with a great view. It is a little compact but we had plently of space between campsites. The owners were very friendly and helpful!

Very quiet & very clean 🧼 camp. I definitely recommend stopping here. Reservation only. And it seems to be always full. I was there on Thursday Friday and we were the last tent site to set up.

Great spot to pitch a tent or trailer. Although its a bit crowded, its got nice facilities. They sell firewood, and any camping supplies you need. The proximity to Garden of the Gods is excellent as well.

Lone Duck has a great deal of amenities that make it a pleasant stay. While everything is fairly tight, they use the space in a way that reduces feeling too tight. There are bushes between at least some sites, lots of family friendly activities, friendly staff, and little odds and ends extras that make this a great place to stay. We stayed in site 29A, which sits alongside a creek on one side and another site on the other. Across the small creek appears to be private property and homes. We didn't spend much time at the campground during our short stay, but we were comfortable. I was bummed I didn't make time for a few arcade games! The bathroom/showers were cleaned daily, the staff was visible and always pleasant in our interactions. While we arrived late and after the office closed (10:15pm), there was a map on the office door with our last name and our site circled. Showers and toilets were a bit cramped, but they are flush toilets and the showers do not require coins!!! The shower was luke warm, though I suspect its because I took it mid-late morning. They offer a pancake breakfast and free Wi-Fi. Overall there was a home like feeling. Its not too far out of CO Springs and close to many of the Springs local attractions, sitting at the base of Pikes Peak. We'd definitely go back if we're in the area again.

Sites are super close together. The “mountain stream” buts up against an apartment complex and the highway noise is awful. The bathrooms are not very big and they smell dirty.

We only stayed two nights but we absolutely loved it! We rent camped right next to the little stream and saw so much wildlife! It was awesome! We will definitely be back.

All of the amenities. Pool, laundry room, gift shop/Grocery. Arcade, pond, clean bathrooms. Best place every. And surrounded by mountains!

Overall, our experience at this campground was great. We just happened to get site #26, which, after walking through the entire campground, we all agreed was the best spot there! It was a decent sized lot with lots of trees for shade and privacy, and we were right next to the creek.

The grounds were clean and seemed to be well maintained, and it was nice and quiet.

We took our 5 year old nephew and 1.5 year old niece. Of course, they enjoyed the playground and pool.

I liked that they had coffee in the main/office building. And, we brought and cooked our own food, but it was nice to know that pancakes and eggs were an option, if that's what we wanted to do.

I gave them 4 stars because both of my sisters had problems with the lady (owner?) in the office being snotty to them. I personally only had interactions with the guy (owner?), and he was friendly enough. They charge 'per person' and for 'extra' vehicles, so it got kinda spends…around $55/night or so (we had 3 adults and 2 children- with the 3 adults all coming from different areas and/or at different times/days).

Overall, we enjoyed our time there and all agreed that we would go back!

We stayed at the Lone Duck campground for two nights in September 2017, with the intention of hiking Pike’s Peak. We were in the middle of a road trip from Southern California to Denver, CO, for a pole dance competition that I competed in. After the road trip out, the mental exhaustion of competing in an international competition, and the HEAT, we decided that we would hike Pike’s Peak some other time and just spend our day relaxing before heading to RMNP to camp and hike. Lone Duck Campground is the perfect place to relax!

We are tent campers, and prefer to be in more “traditional” outdoor campgrounds in parks or forests, etc, but for an urban campground, Lone Duck was great! While the layout of the Lone Duck Campground certainly accommodates for RV campers, the campground also has nice little tent sites with grassy areas to pitch a tent. Our site had grass, shade, a picnic table, and a fire ring - everything you need for a basic campsite.

The tent sites are fairly small and open to the neighboring sites, but that is to be expected in these more urban campgrounds. However, we had site T-25, and due to the surrounding shrubbery, it was more secluded than most sites. The campground is right off the highway, so there is some noise pollution from the nearby traffic. Overall the campground was peaceful and everyone seemed to respect the set quiet hours. It is $36 for two people to stay in a standard tent site WITHOUT hookups…the nightly fee increases with added equipment hookups and additional people.

The benefit to camping in an urban campground like Lone Duck is all the extras you don’t find in all traditional, basic campgrounds! Lone duck had a pool, free wifi, and CLEAN, HOT, COIN-FREE showers! After sweating in the summer sun all day, returning to camp and showering is the best feeling in the world.

The camp hosts were very friendly, and provided nice home-cooked breakfast in the morning for only $5! As much as we enjoy cooking when we camp, it was soooo nice not having to dirty up then clean our camp kitchen. The breakfast was very well worth $5!

Lone Duck also had a small pond/lake to fish in, a jungle gym, a game room and a basketball court. We did not partake in any of those amenities, but they make Lone Duck a very family friendly campground where kids can stay entertained!

Since we decided to be lazy and forego hiking Pike’s Peak, we slept in, enjoyed the Lone Duck breakfast, and researched what we could do to beat the heat. We knew we wanted to go to the Garden of the Gods later that afternoon after it cooled off and to see the sunset, but needed something to do before then to escape the heat. We ended up backtracking back up towards our previous stop in Denver, and went to the Coors Plant in Golden, CO. I’m not much of a beer drinker, let alone Coors, but my boyfriend likes beer and enjoys going on different brewery tours. The Coors tour was free and air conditioned, so why not?! The brewery tour was actually very interesting, and at the end of the tour you could choose three glasses of beer in their tap room. Cold, free beer on a hot day? Even I couldn’t say no to that!

After the tour we drove back down to Colorado Springs and went to the Garden of the Gods (which is probably only 15-20 minutes away from the Lone Duck). The park is FREE to enter, and has some spectacular red rock formations that glow like fire in the setting sun. The park is pretty accessible with wide, flat paths around the perimeter of the park and around the popular rock formations. There are smaller, more rugged trails leading up to various rock climbing areas, and hiking trails that extend out away from the park into the foothills. We climbed on rocks and hiked around for a few hours until sunset. The Garden of the Gods is a must-see - the rock formations are incredible, and you do not even have to be a hiker to be able to see and enjoy them!

We decided not to cook back at camp, and stopped at Rudy’s Country Store BBQ in Colorado Springs. We are from Southern California and had never been to a Rudy’s before, and we loved it! I have to admit that I was skeptical of a gas-station restaurant, but I’m so glad we ate at Rudy’s! It was cheap, it was tasty, and it was fun! And I’m always a fan of unlimited condiment bars, so that was a plus!

Overall, I would highly recommend Lone Duck Campground, especially if you like urban campgrounds with extra amenities. We had been debating over staying at a cheap hotel for the night, but I’m glad we stayed at Lone Duck, it was a much better experience than a hotel would have been.

I personally loved staying at this campground. It is in Cascade, CO right off of Highway 24. It is minutes away from Pike's Peak, Manitou Springs, Cave of the Winds, Red Rocks Open Space, and Colorado Springs. This puts it in a really convenient location while still feeling on the more secluded side. The common area has lots of cool arcade games, and the showers were always clean.

This is not the campground for any sort of quiet soul searching in the woods, but if you’re looking for something that feels a bit like the summer camp from days gone by it will do well. I booked it because I thought it would be silly fun for my two kids and for that it did not disappoint. Features Outdoor pool Arcade with old school games and prices.

As an adult who likes more rustic camping it was hard for me to deal with campsites close together, crazy kids running around until late with high powered flashlights, and the road noise, but I booked it for my kids to have a novel camping experience, and for that, it did not disappoint.

The staff was super friendly and helpful! The facilities were always very clean. They had breakfast for you in the morning if you wanted for $5. We woke up one morning at our tent site with deer walking and eating down the creek right next to us.

This was a really great surprise for us. The staff on site are super nice and very helpful with any question you have. It's a family operation which seems to be a good fit for them. Even though the campground is small it offers a lot. There is fishing, a pool, splash pad, playground, arcade, store, and multiple wifi hotspots. They even offer breakfast each morning for about 5 bucks. Only knock I have is it is right off the highway which can be loud. Some of the sites are pretty small but doable. Views can be had of the surrounding mountains and is a great location with only short drives to popular tourist locations.

RV full hookup sites available, as well as cabin and tent sites. Dump station and outdoor sinks if needed. Pool, fishing lake and kids play area. Video game room. Free WiFi. No cable hookup. Just off highway, so slightly noisy without A/C.

As we struggled to find a place we stumbled on lone duck. We are glad we did, they were friendly and clean. We got one of the cabins and bought some firewood which was perfectly seasoned and burned excellent. We even had a visit from a family of deer. Definitely recommended. They also serve breakfast and have an amazing old school arcade in the back.

We stayed at Lone Duck for a single night in the beginning of August because we wanted to check out Pike’s Peak before starting the drive home from our 3 week road trip. It’s a relatively small campground, but extremely welcoming and one of the best campgrounds that we stayed at during the trip. It’s located close to the main route through the area, but not level with the road so you don’t hear the road noise at night. Our water / electric site was level and backed up to a small brook, which was peaceful and full of little critters (squirrels, chipmunks, woodpeckers). The heated pool is awesome (and pretty darn warm!), the little trout pond is nice for the kids (you have to pay $6 for each fish that you catch, though, and there is no catch and release), and they have a really great arcade in the main office game room. About 15 arcade games total, 1/2 of which are pinball machines. The restrooms have large shower stalls and are well-maintained and clean. There is a smaller camp store and fishing equipment that you can borrow if you did not bring your own. They also have a small grill and they do breakfasts some mornings and I’m assuming some dinner options some evenings as well. We opted for the $5 pancake breakfast in the morning which included 2 large pancakes, side of meat (bacon / sausage), and coffee / juice, which isn’t bad. The campground hosts (who cooked the breakfast as well) were very nice, and the overall atmosphere of the campground is quaint and welcoming.

The area is cool and we enjoyed going up to Pike’s Peak. My family thought it would be better to go up on the cog railway train rather than driving the auto road, so that’s what we did. I would have preferred to drive at our own pace and be able to take pictures and really enjoy the mountain views, but my husband and two kids (8 and 10) loved the train ride. It was pretty expensive for the tickets, but the ride up was peaceful and informative (the announcer speaks quickly and is difficult to hear sometimes, but is a wealth of knowledge) and we saw a ton of marmots, some pika, some deer, and some bighorn sheep. The weather was not fantastic and we couldn’t see a darn thing at the peak, so it was OK that we only had 45 minutes at the top to scarf down some donuts, take some pics, and hop back on the train.

We ate dinner at Colorado Mountain Brewery (NOT the Roundhouse location) and it was horrible. The service was terrible, the food was awful (except the pretzel appetizer, which was great), and the beer was the worst. Would not recommend!!

However, the campground was GREAT, and I would definitely recommend it if you’re in the Pike’s Peak area.
