Quiet, clean, great campground.. just be prepared for sun
We love this campground for many reasons. Great loops for biking with kids, very clean campsites and nice bathrooms, great trails for biking or walking between the camp loops, nice reservoir for water activities, level and easy to access sites, and great rangers that stop and chat with our little kids! The only problem we have ran into here is the sun. We used a sun shade with a tarp on one side that we would keep rotating during the day to create shade. The sun is unbearable here for a whole weekend without some shade! The sites that face the reservoir have a great view, but you get evening sun which is hot and makes dinner time hard.

Beautifully maintained
We had site 12. We were a bit early for check in the host was very nice! We had time to kill and the host said he would come get us once the site was ready. We used the dump station. After he came and got us for check in. $9 pay station is self serve. Bring some cash for daily permit. The host took such care of this campground. Every time we saw someone leave they would clean out the fire pits and rack the gravel. 100 would come back if we find ourselves back in CO
Well kept campsites with good hosts.
Nice area to camp and visit local sites. Black Canyon of the Gunnison is close. Many vineyards close by. Joe Cocker (rock singer) had a ranch nearby.
Its ok
First the water is SUPER low. Second, Dyrt has the price incorrect for camping... check CO CPW website or ReserveAmerica for actual price. Saw a little bit of wildlife, one deer ran through our campsite. Camp host was nice. Bathrooms were clean. Weeds could have been cut back more. Friendly campers around us.
Beautiful area close to fun
We chose to stay here while many other camp grounds were full.. not a bad choice, the only drawback is no sewer connect just a sewer dump.. so staying here for and extended time may be a little inconvenient. The area is fantastic, very close to Needle Rock monument and we have driven south to Gunnison and east to Carbondale and Marble. We trail drove Kebler Pass and went over to Lead Basin and Schofield Pass.. easy drive from here. Also, the local farmers markets and Vineyards in Paolia are awesome to visit, fresh apples and honey and pretty good wines! We are here in late Sept thru early Oct. definitely a beautiful time.. the only thing bad about this entire CO trip has been they are in a prolonged drought and the rivers, lakes and reservoirs are all very low. Overall we are very pleased with the facility and staff.

Peaceful Park
Peaceful park near Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Sites clean with water and electric. Nice wildlife viewing. Some bathroom stalls and a shower out of service but all building very clean and new.
Beautiful park!
We stayed at site 44. I feel like most of the spots are more suited for RVs and not tents, but we made it work. We were near the bathrooms which were clean. The camp hosts were very nice. It’s a great state park. Hiking, swimming, fishing. Tons of fun!
Great campground close to Black Canyon of Gunnison
We had site # 26 it had water & electric hook up, picnic table, fire pit & a metal shelter over the table for shade & wind. Great view of the lake but the lake level was down so we weren't as close as you could be but still a great lake & mountain view. I have Verizon I had 2 to 3 bars & could stream Pandora. We had deer, Western Meadowlarks, bluebirds & magpies. The camp host was awesome. Nice clean restrooms and clean campground.
The campground is close to one entrance of the Black Canyon of Gunnison (one of the least visited national Park) it's it's deeper than the grand canyon & narrow. Nice little hikes & pull over view points easy to enjoy. Across from the overview loop there was a small campground we drove through and some viewpoints there. A small trail Chasem took you right to the edge there was a chain link fence between you & the canyon. We saw Elk on the way in & out of the park.
Take some time to drive to the shoreline & set up your chairs & relax. Fishing along there is good.
The campground is big with several loops & is maintained well.

Great campground!
Great water front sites from 22 to 39. Clean and quiet. Perfect gateway!
It was a-ok
Right off the road. Easy access drive up. Clean facilities. Overall it was nice. Conveniently close to town and general store.
Great place
This is a great place to go and relax. There’s fishing, swimming and the Black Canyon is right up the road. Sites are level for RVs. Lacks full hook ups, but the. Campground host said they are redoing one of the campgrounds to add them.
One of the best campsites I've been to
This campsite was right next to an incredible lake. The campground host was so nice, and made sure to check in with us when we arrived to help us get things squared away. He gave us great suggestions about what to do and even where we could swim in the lake. Facilities were surprisingly clean, and just a short walk from the site. No shade, but plenty of space between camp sites. 10/10
