Poor Customer Service

Would have given this spot 5 stars but their customer service is terrible. Due to the heavy rain, we had a catastrophic failure of our awning. Went and talked to them to find out if they had a mobile guy they could recommend. They were minimally helpful. Told us we could keep our rig parked there a couple days until we could get it repaired because they weren't booked for the week but we'd have to pay full price. Which is fair. We opted not to do so and worked all morning to get the awning secured and rolled out of there 15 minutes late. We promptly got a charge for late checkout. Definitely don't recommend! And I will be sure and let everyone I know what crummy customer service we received and that this place is best avoided.

Great spot!

This campground is very nice! Nothing fancy. An older campground but we’ll maintained. We had to change our dates, and it was an east phone call to do that. They also let you checkin and pay online which was seamless also. Close to 6 Santa Cruz county state parks and Santa Cruz beaches and town. We will stay here again! Side note. Don’t use hwy 9 south from Santa Cruz towing. The road is too winding and narrow. Use hwy 17 to Mount Herman road

A little space would serve them well

Beautiful area, beautiful trees and nice amenities. On the whole they’ve really squeezed spots in to every nook and cranny of the property. A bit of space would serve them well. pulling in at the busy time of the afternoon/evening was almost anxiety inducing. With the close proximity and the sheer amount of people. Once you’re settled it’s better but the close proximity to each other is still there. Overall a positive experience and would consider returning, the whole park is best suited to small vintage camping trailers.

Be sure to pay the $15 hold fee when you’re booking online, I booked months in advance thinking I had reserved a nice spot by the River and we get there and find we’ve been placed directly butted up to the playground and a hoard of screaming children. In speaking with the management we were informed that there is a hold fee of $15 you need to pay while booking your stay to ensure that you get the site you want as someone can choose the same site and if they beat you to the “checkout” they will prevail. They said it’s normal and maybe it is , but it was very disappointing. We were accommodated with being moved to another spot that was better but in the end it seems like a money grab and a sure way to get on some peoples bad side.

Great proximity to Santa Cruz and Felton, would recommend but do your homework first

Tight Spots

From my narrow LTV, I should have asked for site 18. It has beautiful trees on either side of it, separating you from your neighbors. While Site 15, the one we have, is fine and level, there’s nothing separating you from your neighbors.

Redwood camping

Nice location on river near the park. But sites are close to each other, no river view. No breeze right now so it's a bit smokey.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!

Camping vacation with my wife and two girls. This campground was clean friendly and beautiful! No complaints I will be back again and again! Family friendly and tight community with an awesome river down a few steps! 15 mins down to the boardwalk! Ocean during the day and camping a night. We loved our experience. Highly recommend!

A few great sites

The sites by the river are beautiful, the rest feel like a very crowded gravel parking lot. Excellent wifi and the trees are beautiful.

Los banos creek

A peaceful, beautiful lake Side campsites nestled at the base of Los Banos creek reservoir in Los Banos. No water and electricity at each site, there was one water Spicket for all campsites. (About 20 total) And porta-potties as well. Other campers were respectful and very friendly. The park rangers came thru several times each day. Over all it’s a wonderful place in which I would return to and highly recommend.

Nice place, but crowded

We went in mid March on a Thursday and the place was at capacity. Like most RV campgrounds, the spaces are very close together. The facility was clean and everyone was friendly. Since it was COVID, we didn’t actually have any personal contact with any of the staff except for the maintenance guy who brought us wood. The site is “on” the San Lorenzo river, but there weren’t many trails to walk on. Also, no trails to walk into town, except for on the fast moving road into town. The state park, on the other side, had numerous trails and was worth the short drive to get to. All in all, this was a pleasant place to stay for a few nights.

Right outside Henry Cowell

We stayed hear a couple years ago. I am many writing this review because it comes up in the dispersed camping filter which it is NOT! It is assigned camping sites that are basically on top of each other. I recommends rating here in the off season because you will basically have the place to yourself which makes it pleasant. Upon arrival we were really bummed to find out tent camping was in a back corner or the RV park, the websites photos are deceiving. It would be nice for families or a group, but as a couple with just a small dog it wasn’t ideal.

Tight but good location

We judge campgrounds a lot by their WIFi and although they say it’s the best around, it did not work well while we were there which may be attributed to the rainy season in March. Otherwise, a nice, beautiful place to be located. Stayed 4 weeks, management very accommodating.

Excellent little family camping site

Well maintained, super clean restrooms. Not much in the way of extras like a well stocked store, trails, or a fancy playground but the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff makes up for it. There is a little trail that goes down to the River where you can find a neat little beach. It’s a goofy little descent/climb to get there and out but worth it.

Excellent family campground

We have stayed here several times. It sits in the redwoods next to the San Lorenzo river in Felton Ca. Beautiful setting and great place for the kids to run around and have fun. Santa Cruz is only a 10 minute ride down Hwy 9. Mostly for RV camping bit there are several tent sights. Bathrooms are clean and showers good with lots of warm water.

Expensive and tight

Not a bad place to stay. It’s just very crowded with zero privacy. All big Rv, there’s a pool hall and a river. It’s super close to a few bars and about a mile away from the Henry Cowell entrance.
