Beautiful campground in the pines
We stayed in December. Could not reserve or pay online. Tried scanning QR code but that wouldn’t work either. Talked to ranger who was friendly and helpful. Only a few campers and no snow (yet). Plenty of spots to choose from and was first come, first serve. Site 28 was pretty level. Highly recommend this campground.
Wonderfull place
A place where you are surrounded by beautiful nature. Deer pass by your camper in the morning. Everything very clean. We loved it!
Amazing off-season experience
Beautiful fog rolling in in the morning, kind people at the campsite, and bears at night (just sniffing around). Completely serene and calming as an off season experience (we stayed April 30 2023) The water is good to drink We had no cell service (T-Mobile / sprint) There was still a few feed of snow cover so dress warm!

Larger Campsite
Large, first come first serve campsite. May have to walk a bit to the restroom. Larger vehicles welcome
Loved it!
My family got here during first come first serve season but there were still lot of people on weekends. We stayed 5 nights and it was rain/hail/snow festival when we first arrived. Awesome experience! Stayed sunny through out the week but the temp still it went down to 30s at night. It was snowing again just as we were trying to leave and it was kinda messy to pack everything back in rain/snow, especially with a heavy canvas tent. Still enjoyed the unexpected!

Didn't See Any Azaleas
The campground is conveniently located near Grants Grove. There were a lot of empty sites, but I don't know if it was still too early for the masses, or because of a storm a few days earlier. No soap in the bathrooms, but there were sinks outside for washing dishes. It was ironic to see food bits in the sink when the park strongly warns against attracting bears.
Incredible spot with Activities
Spent 5 nights at Azalea and had an absolute blast. The America the Beautiful access pass knocks the price down from $22/night to $11/night, so if you don't have it, get it! There were TONS of trails immediately accessible from most camp sites, and a short walk from the rest. Campground has potable water, flush toilets, sinks for doing dishes, dumpsters/recycling, and Verizon service was fair/good throughout our stay. Pets are allowed too! This spot is going in our favorites list for sure!
Last Minute camping
So we were typically boondockers but when the recent forest closures took effect we felt like nowhere to go. Luckily, Sequoia and Kings NP is open. So drove there from San Diego. It was a 6 hour drive. We went to the cisitors center per park rangers advice to get a decent phone signal and we were happy to know there is a camp ground 2 mins from the visitor center. The rangers were very informative and helpful. We drove in to Azalea campground to see first the campsites and choose what we wanted and the went back to the visitor center to book the campsite online. Don’t be fooled when they post outside the campground that it is FULL. They told us they did that on purpose so people would come and ask the rangers at the visitor center for more info. Even the campsites all of them has a “campsite reserved tag “ but no one is booked. It was a very spacious campground with more than a hundred spots to choose from. Since it is an active bear area, they provided metal bear proof lockers from your food and stuff. A lot of comfort rooms and water spigots and trash bins too. At night it was calm and everyone is considerate not to make so much noise. You can also take hikes from the campground to the nearest grant tree groves where the second largest sequoia tree is. It was a fun and safe 1 mile trail that even kids would enjoy.

Beautiful. Reservations required during peak months
My family stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. We have a 32 foot travel trailer. During peak months, reservations were required (opens one month in advance). There's a threaded water spigot attached to the bathroom toward the front of the campground. The others weren't threaded for a hose. It was beautiful and shady. The campsites up front seemed to be where all the action was, so we opted for a site in the back. We were in site 53. There were two small tent sites that were super close to us, so we were happy they went unoccupied during our stay (I'm not sure if that was intentional or not). In addition, there was a large tree that made backing the trailer in extremely difficult. We scoped out the remaining loops (not all were open) and agreed that site 58 would be perfect. Only one neighbor and a lot of room. Azalea is located pretty much directly across from the Kings Canyon Visitor Center and right next to the drive to the Grant Tree. Closest dump station open during our visit was at Princess Campground (about 15 minutes away).
Great, accessable, relaxing
Close to amenities, quick drive to get there, great trails
Fantastic clean
Really great park camping. Great for kids to ride around in the campground. Big campground. Trees. Stars ok cause of large awesome trees. 2 minutes from park store and post office stuff. Clean. Easy in and out. Not sure about great big rv’s. It as long as your maneuverable in a typical national park visitor center type are then you should be ok in campground.
Good winter option
We decided to come in the off season in February and we got lucky with weather. Low tonight is only supposed to be in the upper 30s. Very quiet but some sledding and hiking activity close by. Sites are a little close to each other, but being so quiet it's not a big deal. One bathroom is still open and the general store and restaurant are right around the corner. Plus, only $10 a night!

Perfect for tent camping with a dog
There are better spots than some at this campground, but get in early and pitch your tent. We settled in a far corner and it was perfect. Kept our dog on a tether and the ranger was pleasant and very helpful. I'd give it six stars if possible!
Great First Come First Serve in a SEKI NP
Decided to come to Sequoia & Kings Canyon last minute and was able to luckily snag a first come first served spot going right into a summer weekend. Azalea CG was a great home base for driving down into Kings Canyon, taking a day trip to Hume Lake, going down to see the Giant Sequoias, and walking to nearby big tree groves.
Would definitely stay here again.

Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Park at your door
So, Azalea is a really nice campground with sugar pines and redwoods all around. From here you can more easily drive to the giant sequoias either in Sequoia Nat’l park or Kings Canyon. Or even check out king’s canyon. Pretty spectacular. Also as kind of a tip, although you cant camp here in the winter, it makes for a great snow play area.
Nice facilities. Very slope-y!
Absolutely loved Kings Canyon! Nice sites however not many are level. Lots of bathrooms but no showers. Easy walk to campstore, post office, restaurant, and visitor center. Many trails close by. Very busy in summer. No reservations. Tent only loops available.
Skip Yosemite head to Sequoia!
This may be my favorite campground ever. Huge sites, HUGE trees, absolutely breathtaking. Showed up mid September, was basically a ghost town, got to pick our site, has flush toilets, bear boxes, what more could a girl ask for! The drive to Kings Canyon is phenomenal, and head south to visit the General, mind blowing.

Camping under the big trees
This campground is just up the road from Grant Grove Village, and really close to General Grant Tree (super cool!!). This is a nice and quiet campground tucked in the trees. It gets dark early in here and stays kinda dim throughout the day. There are several loops, and you really can’t go wrong with any of them. While tents and RVs are mostly mixed, there is a small tent only loop. The closest showers are down the mountain at Stony Creek Village or at Cedar Grove Visitor Center and Village. Don’t forget to use the bear boxes. There is no need to drive to see big trees as there is a nice trail from the campground that leads to the General Grant Sequoia Grove, and a really nice trail through the Sequoia Grove.

Amount the tall trees and centralized
Azalea is great because it is central to both Kings Canyon and Sequioa. Good size spaces, lots of sites, trees and meadows everywhere. Just look out for the falling pine cones! We went first weekend of Oct and it was super quiet and perfect weather.

Lovely Spot!
We had originally planned on camping in a free spot for the week we stayed in Kong’s Canyon, but due to the snow we weren’t able to get to them and this was the only spot that had tent sites open!
A very well taken care of campsite, with nice fire pits, picnic tables and bear lockers at all sites! Surrounded by Sequoia Trees - it can’t get much better!
The bathrooms are clean, potable water available, a nice convent store right up the road and wonderful park rangers patrolling!

In the heart of Kings Canyon National Park by grant's grove
Near the beautiful big trees, large sites and beautiful sunset's off the back of the campground. Wonderful area to visit - nightly campfires in the summer and food etc. at Grant's Grove.
Central location in kings canyon
Azelea campground is in the center location for Grant's cove with both General grant tree as well as the village just a hike away or minutes by driving, the location is awesome but some of the features of the camp site are lacking compared to other sites. The main issue is the lack of bathroom sites as in the winter time azelea only has one bathroom building which depending on your location can be a huge drag as our site was pretty far away from it.The camp sites are also right on top of each other so be prepared to get pretty comfy with your neighbor. The site did allow camp fires which was great and the village featured a store that provided anything you could need. All in all as long as you have a location close to the bathroom you'll be golden and the location is awesome to getting anywhere in kings canyon.
Good spot
Got to pick my site. Only certain campgrounds could have fires. This was one thankfully as it got cold. Large bear storage boxes.
Long weekend
We went up on a Thursday and I am glad we did. If you go up on Friday you will be fighting for a spot and Good luck finding an opening on Saturday. This is a no reservation site and runs 18 dollars a night. Eat site has a bear bin, and a fire ring with a grill.
There are great day hikes close and the site is about an hour drive down to cedar grove.
Peaceful and Very Quiet
We found a site just above the river for a peaceful and very relax few nights. This is the spot if you want privacy while enjoying sleeping under the stars.
