Grand Canyon Camper Village

I’ve stayed twice at Trailer Village (there is no Camper Village). It’s the only campground in the Park that has hook-ups (you can camp at Mather Campground w no hook-ups if you are under a certain length).

Our most recent stay the campground seemed almost half-empty and was quite nice. Our first stay we were packed in like sardines and that obviously destroys the ambience.

There are bathrooms, but we had no Wi-Fi and showers and laundry is located at Camper Services, a three minute drive or a twenty minute walk. You do have to pay for showers. So as far as amenities, not really many (though we had no issues w water like other reviewers). There was a nice grass space next to our campsite with a picnic table.

The advantage of this campsite is that the Park shuttle has a stop right at the front of the campground and you can explore most of the Park without a car by utilizing the shuttle. Additionally, the market is a nice 20 minute walk.

So super basic campground, but great location. And yes, more expensive than other campgrounds but 1/3 the price of the cheapest hotel room in the Park.

No WiFi Restrooms are filthy in need of a major upgrade. Would not recommend this park.

Whilst it is the cheapest RV park in the vicinity of the Grand canyon it is well overpriced and the amenities are probably the oldest I've seen. In winter they turn the water at each site off and then have the audacity to charge you to use their showers. Overall would not recommend unless you are travelling on a budget and just want a place to legally park your van with some power - I won't be back.

We got here in winter, off the tourist season, so the camping is quite empty and silent. Is run by extremely friendly and organized people. We got to the camping late at night not really knowing what to expect, they let us a letter with a camping map on the office door 🥰 there are public showers, didn’t use one, cannot really say of they are good or not. Public toilets are not great though…

Let’s start with the pros: 1) 5 mins from the canyon! 2) Electrical hookup. 3) Its not terribly un level

Cons: 1) Although the daytime temps are well into the 40’s/50’s they don’t allow/ turn on water hookups during the day. I can understand shutting off water during the freezing night temps but during the daytime and well above freezing it would be nice to have the option of filling your tank up instead of hauling water from their one working water spigot. 2) No dump station that we were aware of 3) Wi-Fi is not great 4) only one working shower/ restroom on the lot and that was way at the front end and IT WAS FLOODED the first day 5) they stack people in next to each other despite being virtually empty 6) They charge for showers. And the restrooms and showers are NOT a spa experience to say the least. Obviously they know a lot of people that book online would want refunds therefore, they don’t allow refunds at all. Not even a 2 day advance notice refund. Considering the price of this campsite, you’re better off dry camping in the National forest.

It is a nice park with spacious sites. If coming from Utah and taking 64 out of Cameron, you will be going through the park. Just a heads up.

When I booked my stay the only available sites were non full hookups. Upon arrival I asked if any full hookup sites were available, and there were not for my entire stay. When I pulled in to the assigned spot I saw something that looked quite like a sewer hookup. I jumped out of the truck and sure enough it was. As luck would have it I didn’t bring enough hoses and I bought a poo cart. Anyway the site was a bit un-level, but who cares I had just enough blocks, and we were 1/4 mile from the rim of the Grand Canyon. Wednesday- Friday we experienced perfect weather, and by Saturday after a 9.5 mile hike to Indian Gardens campground the wind was really gusty. Wind, rain, then snow continued until around 6am Sunday, and there was a blanket of snow on everything except the roads. After breakfast and an extended pack up because of the cold we were able to pull out around 2pm and the camp hosts had no issue with a late departure. All in all a fantastic long weekend, and will definitely be back in the spring. Not all info on their website is correct so call Margo in the check in shack for most up to date info. Reserve early, bring a bike, and enjoy.

Great place for visiting the Grand Canyon. The park also has a few restaurants within walking distance which is nice. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. The bathhouse is old and in disrepair. Cleanliness is questionable. Hard to tell if it's dirty or just really old. You also need to have a shower token (cost is $2 for campers) and the shower will cut off after 8 minutes. The overall condition of the bath house should be improved if you aren't going to offer a sewer hook up. They claim to have it but I didn't see a single site with it on my morning dog walks. Sites are also quite narrow.

I grow up in the SD area and never know about Sweetwater Regional Park, I kicked myself for missing out on the years of great camping I missed out on. A jewel in your own back yard.

As described close to all sorts of needs campground has all amenities necessary showers, restrooms.

Absolutely perfect to get in and out of the Grand Canyon south rim. Only one mile from the entrance. Great small town just outside the campground too. Quant shops, Starbucks, IMAX, airport, and restaurants. We got a full hook up pull through. Hook ups were adequate at best. Showers and restrooms were disgusting, but we did not use them. Absolutely no WiFi, cable or reception. They do rent movies for $1.00, but limited old copies. Site 51 needed a lot of leveling, but had a fire ring. Absolutely loved the elk coming most mornings, and mustangs in evenings. The National forest area behind the park, was good hiking. Trailer Park with some sketchy characters walking around was attached to the campground. Overall for four days it was ok, especially given how close it was to the park!

We stayed 1 night to get to the Grand Canyon in the morning. We arrived late but gave staff a heads up. They had everything we needed waiting on the office door. Check in and out was a breeze. We did struggle to find our site number but that’s because the signs were covered in snow. It had just snowed that night so nothing could be done by staff to fix this. The map was helpful so we quickly found it after wiping off a few signs.

The office was great! Had lots of things that are useful(RV safe toilet paper!!), DVDS to rent, etc. Located right behind a Starbucks and great touristy general store.

Distance to the Grand Canyon couldn’t be beat.

Bathrooms were in a central location but locked. I believe this is to prevent frozen pipe damage so we weren’t bothered by it.

We would not recommend this camping as we’ve have a bad experienced except for the friendly staff. The bathrooms are dirty and only one of them was open out of many. Our site was on the other side of the camping which was very inconvenient. There is a slight sketchy atmosphere and to us very overpriced. Other cheaper camping might give you a better experience. The staff is very friendly and will help you find the best places at the Grand Canyon.

Perfect for exploring the Grand Canyon for a few days. You can walk to the canyon rim or walk to shuttles that will take you anywhere in the park. Grocery store also within walking distance (10 min?). Wildlife wander through camp grounds. Some nearby trails are good for walking the dogs, just keep an eye out for elk.

Site is at the end of town so you can walk to and from the town easily, its then just a short drive to get into the park at the south rim gate.  Elk/deer? wandering around inside the campsite. We were in an RV, full hookups, not too busy.

Just south of the Grand Canyon National park. It was a breeze to go back and forth between the campground and park. Nice and quiet and the people in the office are nice. We loved eating dinner and watching the elk every evening.

Very conveniently located just outside of the Grand Canyon’s southern rim. Stayed here due to Kaibab Nat. Forest being closed with forest fire. Easy after hours site reservation. Had to wait until the morning to buy shower tokens, but that was okay as they opened at 8am. Had an elk stroll right up to our tent site. Obviously very comfortable with people.

We couldn't believe how empty it was, super close to the park and met some great people. Our water heater and furnace broke down and few people were willing to help. Not many long term people which is great. The office let me borrow the surge protector for the time I was there, Carol was great.

Other reviews were right on....its a dusty parking lot. That’s it. The location can not be beat if you cant get into Grand Canyon proper. It’s a short drive to the entrance, and seeing how far other rv locations were away this is by far the closest option. The sites are flat, and that is the end of the good things about this place. The bathrooms are in much need of repair. Showers were pay by the 8min session, and did get hot fast. It’s good for the location but that’s about it.

A good base for the Grand Canyon due to it being only a mile from the south rim entrance. They pack the RVs in, sites are right on top of each other. It’s pretty much a really expensive parking lot. Showers cost $2/8min. There was no hot water the first day and we let management know and they gave us a token and fixed it quickly. Our site was full hook up but if you don’t have full hook up they charge for water fill and dump. Laundry was $3 to was and $3 to dry. They do have propane fill. Everything is pretty expensive in the village so I guess you’re paying for convenience.

Great to experience the Grand Canyon but will most likely not be back.

So if you are looking for a Full Hookup RV parking / camping spot with no thrills other than being 10 minutes from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, this camping spot is for you. But be advised, it’s expensive ($70 per night) and they really jam you in tight with other campers. There are no open fires allowed. The bathrooms are super clean.

Nice little rest stop on our way through the Grand Canyon. Great scenery and good staff.

We stayed for one night and it was super close to the canyon entrance which was great. The rv pull through were a little close together and if we set up our sewer pipe we would have had our doodie pipe right in front of our neighbors truck. We felt bad so never hooked up. Heard coyotes howling as they walked through the camp at night. That was awesome!

A little on the pricy side of campgrounds, but well worth it. Shuttle service running to the Grand Canyon from the campground is great and location could not be better. Great modern facilities.

Great hosts

we lost our tent due to wind, blew over and was completly destroyed. tons of crows in the area.. cannot leave any food even a loaf of bread out. and the shower house is on the other side of the canyon, bring quarters its not free.... other than that beautiful views and would love to do again with a better tent or rv.

Super hot during the day and super cold at night. Along the trails there was still some snow in the shade. The campsite were more spaced out and roomy.

This was near the Grand Canyon, which is why we chose it. Full hookups, no shade in our spot but it’s cooler in this area so it wasn’t too hot. Campfire pits were available and made our stay so much better! Stores and restaurants are nearby. We bought some groceries and made dinner. We did feel the grocery store was expensive so I suggest getting groceries before you head here.
