IMPORTANT Please note: Camping and campfires are prohibited on National Park land. Camping is only allowed once on National Forest land approximately three quarters of a mile from Highway 64, past the cattle guard. Please make sure you are off National Park lands before setting-up dispersed camp. If possible, use existing campsites to limit resource damage.

Surprised

Close to exiting the Grand Canyon NR. We were new to this type of adventure - camping. Take away point … Check map for details as these kind of places are not clearly marked. We did have a great night under the stars - temp went down to 40’s. A few other campers around - but not visible so I liked the privacy part. Road was rough but doable we drove Ford Ranger - can hear some road traffic but still peaceful.

Quiet and close to the Canyon

There is plenty of open space along the access road and plenty of space. This type of camping is exactly what a lot of working parents want for themselves and kids. The village is far enough that you need to drive but not far enough where you can’t get dinner and head back to the campground.

I decided to stay near a campsite that had excellent 5G reception (Better than my house😁)

There are no signs leading to the campground. You will have to use the Dyrt app or use the topo map from forest service.

Awesome forest land Just drive slowly

Drive down road. No camping in Grand Canyon National Park, but about half a mile down the road you cross a cattle grid. You’re now in Kaibab Forest and can camp here. We drive 2WD F250 with 30ft fifth wheel

Two ways in. We came thru Grand Canyon Village, so only 0.7 mile on dirt road - but you need to pay for GCNP access ( or use America the Beautiful)

T-Mobile, Verizon and Visible and Cricket all excellent in this area-so good that I don’t see the need to unpack Starlink. But between here and the village we had no cell coverage

Filled water bladder at Mather campground. Looks like I can use their dump station also

Kaibab NF near Grand Canyon East

Great spot in the woods. Fires allowed in fire rings. Good Verizon service. Access to AZ trail. Road is a bit rutted but able to navigate well in a FWD Promaster even after some heavy rains. Great spot for starry nights. Lots of trees for shade

huge forest with plenty of secluded space

Right off scenic desert view drive with plenty of space for everyone. Most people choose to keep driving along the fire road for spots to settle even though each spot is big enough for multiple units, ie if you’re not shy you don’t need to drive too far in and can just share a spot even if someone is already there. The fire road itself is quite bumpy with lots of big holes so definitely drive slowly and carefully. We found a spot with lots of trees offering good privacy (since other people are far away) and a fire pit left by previous travelers. Set up a hammock and it’s a perfect spot to relax after a long day of walking. The village is 25 min away and offers drinking water (throughout GCNP), grocery store, and shower/laundry (Camper Service).
