Noccalula Falls Park & Campground

 our site was not clean. There was trash and a dirty fire ring.  Trails are really nice but the campground is in need of maintenance. 

we stayed in a tent site in dec '22'' , the sites are very close together and the tent  site we were on hardly had enough space for our 3 person backpacking tent . there are fire pits, grills, and tables available on each site as well as water  . we appreciated the security gate and extremely clean and heated bathhouses with showers . the park has a nice playground and a pool we were unable to try during the winter months .  the campground is very close to town and as so expect alot of noise from traffic

The camp sites are very close together. Bring your own fire pit if you want to cook over a fire.

Many spaces like ours are like parking in a box, with railroad ties on the back and sides. Access to water can be a challenge as we had a 40’ run to the valve. I’ll never camp here again

Great trails and an amazing waterfall, but the campsites here are on top of each other! This is more of a camper parking lot than a campground. I wish campgrounds would give more breathing room in between their sites.

Small campground with close spots. With that being said, the campground is well kept. The bathhouses are very clean. The trails are well kept. The falls are gorgeous. The campground is very quiet with lots of amenities and a very nice park next door. The people are very helpful.

It's not a good place to camp. There's too many people there. Litterbugs people who don't care about mother nature.

This was our first time to Noccalula State Park. The park is an urban oasis just outside of Gadsden. It is gated. The campground has concrete pads, mostly back in, some shade trees, little grass around the camp sites. Can get very muddy during rains. All have picnic tables and scattered grills. The campground backs up to a public bike/hike trail which gives you easy access to the trails and hike to the falls. There are two hiking paths to get to the falls. If you go from the campground it is muddy, rocky, but a good hike. Stay on the high path! Rocks are very slippery behind and around the falls. If you take the train to the other side of the falls, its an easier hike. There is a suspension bridge that is 0.2 miles from the walking trail on the campground side. It is worth the hike. FYI, look up on the rocks as you get to the stairs to the bridge. There is a huge hornets/wasp nest on the rocks. If you take the trail across the suspension bridge, you have about a 1 mile hike back to the park. It’s rocky and muddy, so wear good tennis shoes for support. We took our 8 and 4 yr old grandsons. They were tired by the end. Thank heavens for the train to take us back to the other side of the falls to the campground. We didn’t have a ticket and they let us ride anyway as our boys were exhausted! There is a petting zoo and old village on the other side of the falls from the campground. It is a ticketed site. The walking trail back us to the campground and is well used. It is well marked, gravel trail. Worth a walk. The campground has a pool. You need wrist bands to enter, so get those at the front office. Really impressed with this campground even though our weather was rainy. Would like to come back at some point

Family friendly with inground pool , hiking trails and Falls park

The sites are well maintained. They have concrete pads. Water and power hookups (the larger sites have sewer). Decent WIFI on the property. The bathrooms and showers are the cleanest we've ever seen. And the pool is a definite plus. 

The park is a lot of fun for all ages and the cost is very low.

We got to the camp ground late (and it was pouring rain!) and we let them know way in advance we'll be arriving late, they said it was fine and they'll be expecting us. We even called them multiple times when we got to the gate, but nobody picked up. So we decided to drive in quickly after another car went in as that seemed to be the only way (fyi if anyone deals with the same problem). Staff was okay, we tried to find drinking water, which seemed to be more of a hurdle than it should be. But after all it was fine for a night. There's (apparently) a nice waterfall on the side of the park.

We are staying for Memorial Day weekend. It’s our first time here and it’s really not that bad! Easier to navigate in my opinion that others say. Staff is really nice and welcoming. The sites are a little tighter than most places. Especially in the RV section. We are tent camping and have plenty of room. Make sure you find the trail to get down to the falls. It’s a tough one but it’s one of the easier ones I’ve been on. Well worth it.

It was a good camping trip and the camp grounds were really nice and clean

Our first time to visit this campground. We stayed in E10. Flat level parking pad for our van. E8-12 are not even enough for tents but good for small campers. Each site has a fire ring, table, water, electric on the lower levels E and C. The upper levels A-D have full hookups with sewer. Bathhouses are very clean. The campground is right at the waterfall, a trail from the campground side leads directly to it and you can walk behind the falls. The trails are great for hiking and mountain biking; a total of 13 miles and directly starting at the lower campsites. Just a few minutes from downtown Gadsden if you need to leave for food.

Our family likes this campground.  We stay several times throughout the year.

Noccalula Falls was great. The park was fun and the campsites were clean and well kept. The showers were spacious and very clean. Would recommend 100%

Nice campground with all the amenities.  Here you can swim in the pool, play with your kids on the play ground or take them on walk to view the waterfall . Noccalula Falls is a very large water fall and spectacular to see.  The campground is located super close to the falls. There is a mountain bike trail system can be jumped on straight from the campground. I would also recommend a visit to back forty brewery if you enjoy libations. Being the 2nd oldest brewery in Alabama they've got the beer brewing thing pretty well dialed. I would say the only draw back here is that the campsites are pretty close together, but if you don't mind close neighbors then you well feel right at home here.

Sites~ most are SMALL and right next to your neighbor. Some have more space but all in all its tight. Driving into the campground and finding your site is TIGHT as well.

Bathhouse~ it's okay. Clean and well maintained. 3 stalls with a double curtain but no shower stall doors.

Activities~ It's why we keep going back! The hiking is great and there is always something new to see. If it's hot you can play in the river. After Thanksgiving the gardens next door have a fabulous Christmas light display.

We stayed here one night while driving through. The bathroom was very clean. Some campsites were tight and uneven, but for the most part they were nice. We hiked to the falls from the campground side which was not an easy walk but worth it.

Pros: affordable, nice amenities (pool - closed to covid19, playground, access to public park, bathrooms, pavilion, laundry room-really affordable), neat setting, plenty to do there and near by, good cell reception (T-Mobile). Cons: a lot of the campsites are on top of each other or at weird angles, don’t recommend most of the sites for big rigs, WiFi is flakey at best depending on your site. Pro/Con: it’s attached to the public park - pro because you can jump straight on the trails con because anyone from the public park can jump straight onto your campsite. We didn’t have trouble, so may not be a big problem - but, we have kids and I was not comfortable with them being outside our camper without us. Overall, I will probably go back at some point - not soon though, but will only stay at sites that we have a little more privacy/space.

Perfect for families that don’t mind taking the beaten trail. There are trails for every type of hiker. This place was great to get out and see some of nature’s great sites. Definitely will be back!

This campground is park of the Noccalula park system and a great weekend get away. Located on what we call “The Mountain” it sits next the Noccalula falls and the gorge with trails for hiking, bike riding and running. The camp ground is very clean and people are very nice

This place has a heartfelt history with the Indians and loads of stuff to do! There is a petting zoo, hiking trails, campgrounds, swimming spots, train to ride, and during the winter they have a light show!

We were pleased with the setup of this park and of course the beautiful Noccalula Waterfall!! We did a Girls trip with my 11 year old daughter and her friend. We loved the hiking down to the beach of the falls as well as finding the secret path to the rocks behind the falls. It’s beautiful and a great trip for children, youth, teens and adults! The Waterfall is definitely an AL Bucket List item, everyone should see. Nice park, and exceptional campgrounds. Loved it All!!

This is a very well maintained campground with plenty to do. The facilities are very clean and management is very friendly. The only issue we had was the sites are extremely close together. However, if you had a group going together with multiple campers it would be awesome.

The campground is a little tight but the amenities make up for it. The site was level with good utilities. Good WiFi and cable tv. The adjoining park and trail was great.

Nice and shady campground! Nice pool, bath houses and laundromat. Friendly staff...security guard 24/7...beautiful hiking..some advanced trails

RV and tent sites, pool, clean bathrooms (running water, showers, toilets), close to gas stations, food, and a dollar general smaller sized campround. the falls makes it worth the stay. easy gravel walking/biking trails. Trails around and beneath the falls.
